This game just came off my list of future mmorpgs to try. The payment scheme it totally unacceptable, not because I think it costs to much or anything like that . . .
For a PvP game that is based around competition between players, this payment scheme hurts the community of players and only benefits the folks collecting.
I am all for alternate payment options, but this is one trend I would like to see ended right away, and bring back player skill and cooperation with eachother instead of "how much money they have".
If this payment scheme is necessary, then I would recommend having separate servers with standard/traditional, one fee for all, payment options. if not, then I agree with Sonicwave and would only like to see extra credits used to items that do not effect gameplay.
The other side of this can be argued. Many players have different time schedules and play more or less than others. However, putting the time in and building up your character is a lot different than simply "paying up" to be uber.
Doh! I knew this was going to be a Korean port, which I normally avoid like the plague, but I was going to try it until I heard this crap. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to wait a couple more months for a stateside MMO to drop.
From the infomation of this, it seems that the maker of Archlord is too greedy, and trying to be another Project Entophia (sp?). I will not beta test this game if i have to pay a lot of money that i cannot afford. I'm not even planing on beta testing this game at all, i'm still looking forward of playing Age of Conan and Lord of the Rings Online then this P.O.S.
ya, this game is no different from playing on a private server. This is the worst idea i've ever seen a company put forth for a game. Maybe that's why codemasters can't release a decent mmorpg. They should just get out of the business after the catastrophic failure of rf-online.
All you guild leaders are now going to have to define if your a poor guild or a rich guild that way we can make sure no one is out of place when they play this game. If they have no problem giveing more to the rich maybe i can pay extra to put a bunch of bots in the game and ruin it completely
Ok, so we get a choice of paying 9.99, 19.99, or 39.99 per month. I wouldn't pay 19.99 a month for this game whether I get 1 gold or 10000000 gold to go with it (or some credits amount), unless the game is VERY good--as in, better than any other mmorpg I've played, in almost everyway. Ive been keeping my eyes on this game for awhile now, signed up for beta about 4 months ago, even though I have my doubts that the game will really be anything special. This pricing structure is a strike against it.
You'll see more and more companies trying to raise the price of playing massive online games as much as they think they can get away with, not because of it costing them more to run than others. Heh, sort of like most any business. I guess its why I'm not big on business. Well, I don't have a problem with business, I just have a problem with greed.....but i'm rambling now.
My point is, a mmorpg would have to be incredable for me to want to pay $19.99 a month while the other premium games cost about $14.99. The company would also have to justify its cost to me. Calling this an 'innovative pricing plan' isn't making me jump up and down with excitment.
I posted this right before I went to sleep, so didnt get my personal opinions in there. I am really dissapointed to see this happen. It will turn away quite a chunk of people, people have already cancelled pre orders. I dont see how they could do this when it doesnt even seem like they have many people in the first place. I wish they could just higher it to 15$ a month for everyoen so that we are all on equal grounds, then use these credits to reward other things such as dedication to the game. Maybe through leveling or pvp, pve, hell even put em as rare drops off mobs. I will probably play anyways because I have no where else to go.
Codemasters seems to be able to break any title they aquire some way or another. Pot spamming grindfest Rfo was my first indication that I wasnt going to like archlord. What ever happened to gaming systems where everyone had an equal footing, and achievement in game was based on merit, not ebayed gear items or gold?
Pay more money for more in-game money...sounds like Codemasters is just taking out the gold farmer market and making themselves the pimps.
So much flaming by all you people on something that you guys didn't even try yet or even getting close to it. This game in korea/china is FREE with a Cash shop and it was successful that way. So why not trying something like that in the western market. Sure most of the people start flaming about it without even reading it. you don't have to pay 40$ for the game, you get the chance to pay 10, 20 and 40. if you like tha game pay what you thing it's worth it. And you don't pay more for more in-game money, you get credits even with the 9$ subscription you get credits that you can exchange for exp boosting pots, scrolls for teleports, attack increasers etc. i don't really see any disadvantage in that.
Ofc, its already flamed to death (or near it) cuz thats what ya doing here atm. Without even seeing this system in action...no comment. And no i dont like it either. But because of that i dont start to flame about it like no tomorrow.
one thing ive noticed is that this dragged the rating from 6.9 to 6.7, thats pretty big. Sorry if its already been mentioned, didnt bother reading and im about to sleep lol
aparently the non rich on the already paying asian side say that it doesnt make all that big a difference, especialy if your smart enough to save your points till more end game and you will have no problem.

I know how you feel.
And for some reason I decided to signup for the beta. Then I can criticise/praise the game. I'm just wanting to play a new 3d mmo beta of some sort.
I agree. I really dislike the ones that seem to think that not playing the game will make it better. When it will just make them bored. :d

6.99 english pounds for 1 month of game-time? Not bad at all.
I see the downer is on allowing 'credits' for seemingly 'cash-shop' items. Way to favour the willing spenders. But I suppose it could work out ok.
EDIT: Nope,I'm reading it clear as daylight about this payment information crisis.

Now I am kinda glad I didn't pre-order

I hope the Archlord faithful have a thick skin. This game could get flamed to death now.
But in advance; I dodged the bullet,I told you so and another one bites the dust. (I hope you never have to hear that from people though)
