New player to DAoC - Need Class advice

I just started the expansion and so far I've enjoyed the community part, and even the PVE hasn't gotten boring to me yet (although I admit I haven't done much of that yet).

I am planning on buying the retail version of the game, but I was wondering what was a good class that I could get to level 50 easily enough (either by solo'ing or a viable choice in a group) and do well in RVR (or just plain PVP), as I've heard that some classes are terrible in RVR.

So far I've only played a Midgard Seer (Shaman) and have enjoyed it so far... but I'm guessing I wouldn't get any points in RVR because I am only a healer.

I plan on researching this further but any help players can give me would be greatly appreciated.

You would get realm points as a healer.  Your group will receive realm points and you will receive a portion of those.  Further, you get realm points for healing and rezzing.

I am not sure there are any " terrible" classes in RvR.  Certainly there are some weak ones.  I think if you decide on what role you want to play, people can stear you into an appropriate direction for your play style.

All I can say is that healers are always wanted in groups.  Tanks, while great for PvE, are not do good at RvR.  Casters are your primary killers in RvR.  I would also stay away from assassin classes.  They are not that quick to level.  Further, because of some design conditions, they are not really any fun or useful to play at level 50.  If you want a stealher, you are better off playing an archer.

Friars a quite easy to lvl solo and are welcome in any PvP party. Though not a pure healer, I`ve saved my group mates many times with basic heals, and it is possible to tank too. Killed many casters with my Friar solo.

PvE is quite easy with the healing style and endurance chant. Power regen is not so bad, so you`ll spend very little time sitting and recovering.
I`ve heard stories of friars killing grape mobs, though I`ve never done it myself, but killed many reds without much trouble.

Bonedancers should be quick to level(And can even lvl afk, once you get 19 suppresion), and does quite well in RvR.
But really, choose whatever class you want. Get it to L24, then test it in Thid. Then, you should probaly know if it's something for you.
