Comments
All I get from it is that WoW is boring once you hit level 60, which has been repeteadly stated in about a million places across the world.
aww shucks. I'm just trolling myself because I'm about ready to try out WoW. I'm looking for a game that can provide me with a break from more serious games with higher learnning curves. A persistant world that I can just go have fun in. If a game stops being fun, move along and find another. (which is essentially what I'm doing...but opposed to running from WoW I'm moving towards it and reading up so that I can get a good idea of what type of char I'd like to develop.) I play a couple of games at the moment and have for a few years. When burnout sets in find something else to do for a while. It will either make you appreciate what you left, or open a new door in your gaming lifestyle.
just my .02 cents
that actually contains more information than "it's great cuz it has 6.5 million players and the week after retail release it got rave reviews that have never been updated".
cry if you want, but it's a FACT, that the above above review that actually includes something about pvp contains a WHOLE lot more than some other people's retarded reasonings.

could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?
I suppose that is opposed to your amazing grasp on the fact that your a) not a moderator and b) moderators don’t exhibit the level of ignorance or discrimination that you just displayed. English may not be his/her first language, he/she may be young, he/she may just not be that literate, which isn’t any reason to completely void his/her point. How about you develop some degree of tolerance, and then you come back.

Regardless of the guy's use of the English language I agree with him.
WoW sucks. It's redundant repetition. The reward vs. time and effort is attrocious at best. The community is horrible.
And yet every WoW fanboi tries to hold every other MMO up to what they think is the shining example of what every game should be.
I hate WoW.
In fact, I'm starting to get burned out on all MMOs in general. When someone realizes that instead of developing grinds and timesinks to get people to subscribe longer and develops an in-depth, engaging, and FUN (keyword here is FUN) game, the stagnation of the genra will start to recede.
Until then we get to deal with asshat devs that concern themselves with trying to invent the new, end all be all, carrot on a stick.
Oh yeah, one more thing. To the guy that was such a douche bag to the OP who obviously doesn't speak English primarilly:
You sir are a jackass. May smoke a turd in hell for each person you put down to try to make yourself feel superior.
OK I'll have a go at saying what he's trying to say. Something like:
"I find playing the game very boring from level 60, where it's just grind...grind...grind...for epic equipment. In the battleground, you just waste your time, waiting, queuing; what do you make!? Nothing worthwhile. The PvP is really bad and the graphics don't make up for the game's many flaws."
And that, partly true. Expect from the graphics bit... I've never actually heard someone compliment WoW's graphics. I probably interpreted it wrong.

And I don't want to hear anything about "I don't believe in vampires" because *I* don't believe in vampires, but I believe in my own two eyes, and what *I* saw is ******* vampires! "
Lots of people like WOW's graphics, though they often won't mention it on these boards since saying anything positive about WOW tends to provoke strong reactions. Personally I think they're very good, I rank them much higher than DAOC or EQ2, for example. They are kind of cartoony, but they have extremely good animations; walking though the barrens you can really believe you're seeing a herd of something walk by. DAOC movements are very stiff and often jumpy and involved lots of 'ice skating', and while EQ has higher pixel counts etc, I didn't actually enjoy looking at the graphics (especially since they have a thing for really bland color choices).
Thank you for that original and helpful prospective on the current topic. This thread would have derailed if you hadn't of submitted this poiniant and insightful post. Furthermore, I'd like to retract all remarks I've ever made criticizing any game.
/sarcasm off
Honestly, are you that narrow-minded that you can't discuss the pros and cons of an issue?
Is it so far fetched that not everyone thinks WoW is perfect?
Can you not play a game and criticize what you think is wrong with it at the same time?

Not when there is a million other threads discussing the same topic, and when your arguing against a biased community, no not realy. Regardless of what people might think, discussing it isn't going to change ANYBODIES minds.
No, it's not so far fetched that not everyone thinks WoW is perfect, in fact I KNOW its not. I have news for you buddy, NO GAME IS PERFECT! This isn't about discussing the pros and cons of a game, it's another WoW bashing thread that isn't about persuading, its about people who are mad because WoW has ten times the subscribers their game has so they feel they have to point out its every flaw. Guess what, I can do that too! FFXIs combat system is lame and the economy is so drastically inflated that you dread leveling because your going to be expected to wear the next set of equipment that you wont have because your too poor, EQ2 sucks the big one at low levels so much that you aern't even motivated to go to the highest end raid content at the end and pvp is lame, and Guild wars...well not gonna pick on it because its free but I myself didn't much enjoy it and if I wanted to could pick out a few dozen flaws with it. Those are the ones that I myself have played, so I'm not gonna comment about any others. But you know what, they're all good games for their own reasons, and I respect that.
And no, i'm not a WoW fanboy, I quit awhile back. But I respect that it is a good game and is probably (as in I THINK and as in I don't have a source or a link but I'm damn sure so don't flame me with your statistics) most popular subscription based fantasy MMO. I had a lot of fun with it, but all that to the side, to be honest, more than half the people who have given WoW the low rating it has probably haven't even PLAYED the game themselves!
I'm sick and tired of these POINTLESS threads. If you don't like the game by all means play something else instead of complaining about it all day.
And for the record, my favorite MMO is EQOA, everquest online adventures for the ps2 for those of you who don't know, since its not even on this site, but I'm kind of glad because you'd all would just bash it anyways for one thing or another, saying its ending like every other forum that supports it. I know its not the best, or even near it but I loved it...was my first MMO...and I've had the most fun online experiences in my life playing that game. None of the other MMO's i've ever played have came CLOSE.
For those who like WoW, your not going to convince them that its a good game! And for those of you who don't like WoW, your not going to change their minds either! So lets quit wasting our time and quit trying to incite anger in people for no good reason!
I love how everyone on these forums bash every game (if they aren't playing one at that moment) or every game that isn't there's (if they are playing one at the moment).
The best thing about these arguments is that is always boils down to "zomg WoW has 6.5 million subscribers it sux" then a reply being something about McDonald's. It never changes.
How about you guys stop complaining about other MMORPGs and just play your own. Sure, World of Warcraft isn't perfect, but you don't see me going into YOUR forums and bashing YOUR game. It's a waste of your time, and it's a waste of my time.
Thanatosx33, everything you said in your post was perfect.
/love you.
/end rant.
Why all the anger when someone tries to discuss the shortcomings of a game?
No one is trying to convince the people on this game's forum that the game sucks.
And to refer to WoW as "my game" and say to stick to "your games" is just absurd.
I'm glad you enjoy the game, good for you. You don't wanna read posts that have critical thinking in them...
DON"T READ OR POST IN THREADS OF THAT NATURE.
The nature of invention is criticism, while the mother is necessity. We all can agree that we like video games. By discussing the pros, cons, shortcomings, and jewels of popular games, we can shape and hammer out an idea for better games.
It's not about trashing WoW. Stop taking criticism to a game that you didn't even program so damn seriously. Take a deep breath and don't post in threads that don't agree with you unless you're going to add to the discussion.
I can say, "I think WoW sucks". By saying that I'm not trying to convince people that the game sucks. I'm simpley stating my opinion, which I'm entitled to.
After all, it's not like there's a certain forum where people can gather and engage in a critical extrapolation of a games workings and mechanics...
Oh wait, yeah there is. It's called a "General Discussion" forum. Each game on this site has one. People gather there to discuss games and give their opinions.
I bet this guy works for Game Spy.
The thing is, we don't really want to see all your posts about how WoW sucks and how you can't find the perfect MMORPG (as you said you were begin to burn out with MMORPGs).
Yes, WoW isn't perfect. I've quit many times and come back many times because, in MY opinion, it's one of the best games out right now. I still enjoy EQ2 and FFXI though, and will probably go back to them in the future. No MMORPG has been good enough to keep my attention long enough, except for the original Everquest.
The reason why I don't like to see posts like yours is because argument and criticisms never matter. Sure, you can list some reasons why you hate it, then I'll list reasons why your reasons are wrong, and then it goes on and on like that until one of us gets bored and stops replying. No one even wins in these "discussions," so it's best to avoid them in the first place.
Just because WE get a better idea for a game doesn't mean that game will ever come out. Sure, some developers may come on here and gain some insight, but I highly doubt it will affect theie decisions very much.
You'll always have your opinions of games, and I'll always have mine. Frankly, I'm sick of seeing people come onto the World of Warcraft forums just to bash it and make themselves feel better (I'm not saying you're one of them, but there are many).
I'll take your advice and stop reading posts that bash games that I'm playing... or, in your words, "posts that have critical thinking in them."
The point of posting your opinion isn't to "win" an argument. It's to discuss.
The reason why there aren't many posts with eleborate and in depth discussions about a game is because everytime someone has something negative to say about a game, people crawl out of the woodworks to get offended. They take it personally that you think "their game" is flawed in some way or another.
Yes I agree that WoW is one of the best made games out, but at the same time it's highly over rated. The end game is too repetitive and needs some meat. The time and effort spent vs. rewards gained is pretty rough as well. And frankly, after almost a year of beta and then the time WoW has been released, I and many others are burned by the same character classes. To make matters worse, the expansion has no new classes. I really don't think that the Burning Crusade expansion is gonna breath life back into the game for very long. I could be wrong, and yes I'll wait to reserve judgment until it comes out, BUT I'm still gonna call it like I see it. If I'm wrong I'll admit it.
Granted horde will be able to play Paladins and alliance will get Shamans. I kind of like the idea of a Blood Elf Paladin even though it totally goes against the nature of the Blood Elves, in my opinion.
That being said, the newness of that will fade quickly. Flying mounts is great and all, but you can't get them until lvl 70. I'm not sure, but judging from what the devs have said and the games history, lvl 70 is gonna be just like lvl 60, only I'm sure it'll take an act of congress to get your toons from 60-70.
The problem with every single MMO out to date is this:
Devs spend entirely too much time trying to develop grinds and timesinks. They don't understand that by trying to trick players into playing longer or dangling the carrot on a stick, is just chasing people away and making the genra stagnant.
Instead of trying to build the end all be all carrot on a stick to keep us subscribed, they should be developing engaging and FUN <---- most important--- content.
It just seems like,to me, that instead of developing games because a person or group of people has a vision or idea that they think would make a fun game, that developers are designing games based solely on what they think will sell.
This type of mentality has made the music genra stagnant, it's made movies stagnant, and it's definitely made video games stagnant.
We can vote with our wallets all we want, but until we stand together as consumers and let companies know that we are tired of getting rehashed, unoriginal, assembly line products we all lose, and will continue to get the same unispired, lackluster titles that continue to come out.
The only thing I want to comment on is your Burning Crusade opinions, which I agree with.
I believe this expansion is not going to do enough to bring back the flavor to the end game, minus a few more levels to grind up to. A couple new classes would be nice (although I'm sure then we'd have some more balancing problems and "0mg nerf!" posts).
I also have a problem with Horde becoming Paladins... Paladins are supposed to be holy and I just can't see the Horde being... holy. Although, I suppose you could then argue that "Well, if Horde can't be holy, why do we have Priests!?" I don't know where I'm going with this, but Horde Paladins and Alliance Shamans just don't seem right!
Like you said, there is nothing new coming, minus some new areas and the flying mounts, and those of us who have been playing since Beta aren't being rewarded very well for our time spent in game.
Honestly, I can't blame Blizzard though. 6.5 million subscribers and countless weeks at the top sales charts with World of Warcraft? Think of what Burning Crusade will do for their bank accounts, even if only 1/3 of the people playing buy it (which is very low and I'm sure it will be much higher).
World of Warcraft wont die for a long time though... hopefully some more life will be added to us "veterans" though.
