Also I find it interesting that they will allow you to link arms with people you are grouped with to perform "The Carebear Stare". Not a direction I would have considered, but they are the pros.
Watching the video on combat, I was impressed with the use of horses in combat. Most MMORPG, and RPGs in general, either you can't fight from horseback, the horse provides no advantage in combat, or the horse and rider remain stationary and beat on the opponent in combat. AoC video actually shows a mounted rider passing through foot troops and it looked pretty lethal for the foot troops. Will be interesting to see if cavalry can use lances. Looks like some thought has been given to mounted shock combat, if so, look out.
Yea, I'm not sure how priests/healers can mend that chopped off head...seems like lethal combat is not going to make healers act like most fantasy healers. This may be an after the battle kind of thing....?
On the other note, I do expect there will be some players running out and killing anyone that moves for jollies. However, I think this is where the AoC community building comes in, you join a guild and don't leave home without several guild members. It would seem to me that when that lonesome player, or small group, waunders into a guild area, they had better do so carefully and with respect. If they kill and destroy indescrimantely I would think the guild would lay down some smack. On the other hand, the world needs to be somewhat free for travel and trade to take place. This will be very interesting to watch, as the player community will be in charge of developing some type of a code of acceptable conduct, probably on a guild by guild controlled area basis. Something like "Break no law as guest and we break none as host, but break the peace, and we break you on the rack".
Guild alliances vrs other guilds will be interesting too, as you have to think before pissing off all your neighbors. After all, you may just need at least one you can partially trust...

Yes, lances have been seen in some of the gameplay movies, they are (realistically) difficult to get in a solid hit with, but the results are quite devastating
