Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!

Which of the new titles should I get?

Ill be leaving for university soon. So whe I get there i wanna start playing a new MMORPG. My choice is torn between a couple of games and I really wanna make sure i make the right choice. I could use some advice. My choices Are World of Warcraft, Saga of Ryzom, Lineage 2, Everquest 2 or Dark and Light.

I want good graphics, a balence of PvP and PvE, good charecter and calss variation and good gameplay. I want a game that not click and fight but with some tactics that you have controll over the charecters fighting kinda like jedi knight outcast.

Any help is welcome thanks.

How soon are you leaving? It would help if we could nail down some release dates on some of those games. I think some might be closer to release than others. I think there might be some people who are in betas of some of those games, but I think they are probably under NDA right now.

Although the PvP will be limited, if you are looking just at games that haven't been released yet, you might want to check out UXO. The combat system for that game is supposed to be more involved than click-and-wait.

sorry i dont know if the reply went through or not. the computer went beserk on me so here it is againimage

My university begins in september. seems like a while away but after exams in May i will be traveling around Europe with my friends for a month, then ill be working for a couple of months so i wont have any time to use the computer untillmi actually go to the university in september.

The thing is when i go to University i will be getting a spiffy brand new laptop and im gonna make sure it has all the good stuff. Good graphics card, lots of ram, HD space, Fast procesor. So i want a game that has really good grapics (I like pretty things)

I don't know how the fighting will be for UXO will work that you sugested but I defenitly want some fighting system like there was in zelda 64 or star wars jedi knight. Or even the fighting system they had in elder scroll 3 morowind would be fine. But I really wanna try some of the new games that are coming out. OXA is good but it has been here for a while already i think. And taking a look at some of the new graphics that are coming such as that off Everquest 2 and lineage 2. WOW those are good.

anyway i can start playing in september, want the new stuff, top graphics prefered and the fighing gamplay system is mportant to me. i dont mind waiting an extra month if i have to. but yeah thats pretty much all the info. Its just so hard to choose.

Its just so hard to choose.

Lineage 2 is rumored to be released first. You may want to start with that one or maybe WoW. If you are patient, you'll wait for Dark and Light, because that's by far the best game you'll see. It's rather unclear when DnL will be out, though.

I would go with WoW if I was you.

It would be incredibly sweet, but you will grow bored just in time to study a lot and make sure you succeed where you need to.

Otherwise, if you change mind and want to hug to the game for a long time, EQ2.

I wont be hard on the others games you name, but they just have a zero appealing factor on me.

Please, do yourself, and whoever is paying for your classes, a favor.  Don't play a MMORPG in college.  If I had a PC and played in college, I would never have passed anything, not even Camping 101.

But if you must have one, I would wait for World of Warcraft.  Personally, I will probably get Everquest II instead, but in your situation, being at school and having much to do besides gaming, Everquest II may be too much of a grind if it's anything like the first one.  WoW will be a more short term, casual, player friendly game, I think, as it is geared toward questing.  I could be wrong about all of this, since both games are far from release and they could change.

I don't think any of the games listed here are "sure things" and anyway only you can decide what is best for you. I'd advise playing in betas and trials and deciding which game captures your interest.

However, your college studies will influence the rest of your life and goofing off playing games is an easy way to blow it. If you have to play than be sure to exercise some restraint and limit your play time and hours.

If you can't keep your eyes open in class and/or are missing deadlines on homework its time to take a break! The games and people will be there when you return... the opportunities you have while in school may not be...

Seems i need to clear somthing up. Yes i know i am going on to University and i know that i have to study alot there. But the cource i got accepted for is "Games Computing and Software Engeneering" I am planing on being a programmer who makes games so i don't think me playing to much MMORPG will be a great problem. Since its the fastest growing area of the gaming industry i think i should keep up to date with things. Anyway i do understand what you saying and i thank you for your concern, thats really nice of you guys. image

Anyway. the main sugestions are: WoW for short term gaming, EQ2 for long term gaming,

I am still considering Dark and light but the graphics just dont seem that good compared to some of the other ones. anyway when i have to pay around 15 bucks a month for a game i would like it if i did not get bored of it to quick. so WoW goes below EQ2

Right now the poll is as followed:
    1. Everquest 2
    2. World of warcraft
    3. Lineage 2
    4. Dark and Light
    5. Saga of Ryzon

But i found it difficult to find which one is "click and take a nap" style fighting and which ones are more "im in controll how this guy fights" style. the only one i know is click based i think is Lineage 2 hence its on 3rd place.

If someone knows which one has which style of fighting out of these 5 then please tell me. image

try Lineage 2 for now... already there's 2 different Open Beta opened up (Tai and Japan) with the NA beta opening REALLY soon... if you dont like it go for WoW but since Lineage 2 is the only one open at the moment, give it a shot... try going to l2orphus.com and register yourself for the Japan Open Beta (its actually starting tonight so you'll be the same level as everybody else)

So far I'm finding the L2 gameplay very similar to Asheron's Call 2.

EQ2, UXO, WoW and others sound like they are at least trying new things so might want to go for one of those.

Of course, like they said, L2 is the only beta open right now and it is free so I'd definitely check it out!

I just reread your original post where you said, "I want good graphics, a balence of PvP and PvE, good charecter and calss variation and good gameplay. I want a game that not click and fight but with some tactics that you have controll over the charecters fighting kinda like jedi knight outcast." I think we could say this is what we are all looking for in these games but so far, unfortunately, not finding...

L2 is cool but from what I know I don't think any of those games you list have everything you are looking for. We'll see as the betas are released though.
