possibly 4 upcoming mmorpg from soe and not counting vanguard.

herculeshercules Member UncommonPosts: 4,925

smedley blog recently suggests 4 upcoming mmorpg in development not counting vanguard(since its not been developed by SoE and even stated as not counted).

I know of the DC comic one but seems there are 3 more on the way and it was mentioned not counting the current 5 so i assume this means brand new mmorpg not expansions.

Wonder what they are .

this is the statement in case rest of blog is boring. And for God sakes could the ex-SWG not spam fanatical hates in this topic pls because smedley's name is mentioned

"One of the things I like best about SOE’s overall development direction is that we’re creating a wide variety of new games. We have four diverse MMO titles in internal development, not counting the five MMOs we currently have live, or our partnership with Sigil for Vanguard"

At least one of them is some kind of kung-fu / martial arts style gameplay MMO from what I've seen around the 'net.  No idea what the other 2 are.

its amazing isnt it.... a company like SoE can make 4 mmos at the same time, yet you think, is there a true point? 2 or 3 will be rushed, glitchy, laggy, and will be dire, yet a department pulls the rabbit out the hat and the 4th is a stunner that knocks that cr*p WoW of the top spot,(dont take the wow bit literally plz). what my point is, companys like SoE have too much money, its like EA and sports games, they make so many, yet about 1 football (soccer) game every few years is good, the rest are jsut EA getting bored and putting the same stuff in the next game... so for me dont count on all 4 being good, 1 will be, im sure, just shows, money isnt everything!

Hmm I remember they had plans to make a mmorpg similar to that mmorpg which had a real 100k sale in it, forgotten the name entropis or something. Also maybe he's including the stand alone expansion for EQ which is being nicknamed EQ1.5, and maybe hes referring to some console ports.

What you were referring to is Project Entropia ::::07::

Frankly, I think the system they use in that is very flawed. They say it is for realism and economy, but in real life, when your axe gets dull, you could sharpen it, not just throw it away, etc.

If SOE ventured into that market, they'd better think well before they do ::::21::

Well you know what they say...throw enough sh*t at the wall something will eventually stick.

I read the following a while back:

    http://money.cnn.com/2005/04/27/commentary/game_over/column_gaming/index.htm

Looks like Sony are planning a modern day MMOFPS. Not sure if this would be included but it sure does make sense. Maybe this is why Planetside keeps going because they want to use the experience and maybe the infrastructure to host this new game. Also people leaving PS for this new game would be a bonus for sony.

Be intresting  if they did .

And yes SoE is part of a multi billion cooperation and can afford to develop multiple mmorpg at same time but really is this a bad thing? More choices espically for access accounts.

Cool, 4 more games I can ignore before they are even developed. Gives me something to complain about when all the other games are good at the time.

Wasn't there some talk about a game Sony was going to make free but have that crap where you could pay for ingame items? I vaguely remember they were creating a game following the cash shop model of other Asian games to see how it would play out... That could be one of em?

Project Entropia is set up that way to make the company money. Any other reason they give is just an excuse.

SoE have already made a firststep into that type of market with the different versions of SWG expansions having different rewards and players buying all of them just to get the different types of vehicles and they will make the next step with one of those 4 MMOs as Smedly has being going on for a long time about how much he loves that payment scheme.

The DC Comics MMO that SoE is doing is exactly like Project Entropia. Pay for ingame aquireables.

Who cares, the games will just get destroyed in an NGE like fashion anyway

Very smart move by SOE buying into Vanguard.   Looking forward to the new one.

I care because SoE has made other games apart from SWG which were nice and which they owned solely(hint look to LA and ask yourself why the other SoE games never saw such a major overhaul).EQ series and planetside.

So yes i like their work. Not particularly intrested in DC comic game but the possiblity of another mmofps is very intresting to me.
