Man I know a lot of US developers wish they could get subscriber numbers that high. LOL They need to just to Square-Enix's skillz. What a way to come out the gate with their 1st MMORPG, helps having a excellent marketing name too (FF).

Oh well helps this gets those lazy US developers off their bums and do something about this to unite us as Americans as the japanese are.....

It doesnt have anything to do with American's slacking, Asians far outnumber Americans. Games like Final Fantasy have a huge Asian User base that we could never compete with unless American developers start pushing gay Anime style games.

I can't wait till it comes out on ps2. There are one million now...but wait until it comes out on ps2! The number could double! And 1 million is more players than EQ has gotten in its 4+ (I dont keep track) years in service!!! It's in such contrast to the remarks FFXI got in the user rating section....

Key words here "Character Subscribed" for EACH character you have to PAY so if I played the game and PLAYED 4 characters I would have 4 characters SUBSCRIBED. I suppect the number of actaul accounts is close to 200-250k. Don't get me wrong 200-250k is great for a game and could be higher than that. We dont know how well they are really doing becuase of there way they make you pay but none the less I imagine they are doing well cause they charge for all 1m characters.

Well on my server i see lots of people on, multiply that by 25+ servers, and you get a heck of alot of people!

Like I said before its only because Japanese LOVE anime. There are ALOT more of them that play games than us Americano's. FFXI is one of the worst MMORPGS I have wasted money on, I dont get a rush from killing things that look like my daughters toys.

If you held on to this game for a couple levels or so you'll know the monsters get way more terrifying. I almost Sh** my pants when a huge giant twice my size(im elvaan too) was pulling rocks out of the ground and chucking them at my party.

I shouldnt have to wait till after lvl 23 to find something exciting, If a game cant grab you in the first 23 levels there is something seriously wrong. Theres like 6 mobs in this game... A goblin, a goblin with an attitude problem, a goblin with an attitude problem and a stick, a gob....... etc etc. Boring... As someone said before, you'll be killing the same mobs at lvl 60 as you were at lvl 1 with maybe a slight variation in color.

Alot of japanese people like anime because anime= porn. Why else play that game except people obessed with cartoon sex. I guess I am just restating but Asia has millions of more people and a higher gaming industry(not to mention weird porn). And since you have to get an account for each character it obviously makes alot more subscriptions.

BTW I love that completely nonbiased pole.

The Japanese arn't obsessed with anime. They are obsessed with Disney. Don't get me wrong here they alot of them like anime, but i mean, their not obsessed. They're not as obsessed as we are anyway.

No, its Anime, not Disney, I lived in Japan for over a year. I.E. Pokemon, Yu-gi-oh, hello kitty, akira, speed racer, FF games, etc etc.

(covers ears in defiance to ramadins remark) FFXI is one of the greatest mmo's for Final Fantasy fans. All you mmorpg geeks with like 50 subscriptions could probably find a better game i'm sure. Just take your evil words elsewhere! And to respond to Samusin, I have not played WoW but really - Is there any doubt in your mind that it won't be a good choice to buy?

Um yes it is, since the large part of subscribers are Japanese it is the reason its doing semi well. Yes they have 1,000,000 subscribers, yay, the way they come to this statistic is by the number of characters not accounts, since you have to pay for each character (so lame). Well if its anything like EQ most people had around 8 characters. That would mean around 125,000 accounts, not many. Even if they had 2-3 chars each thats still only around 400,000, still far less than the EQ subscribers.

I don't think that every other person has 8+ characters. Thats 20 bucks a month. Maybe in Everquest but the whole extra dollar per person idea was to keep that from happening. I'll bet it has for the most part.
