Hey ya!
I'm thinking of buy WoW and start playing but i'm stil a VERY fresh noob when it comes to MMORPGs, especially WoW.
What class do you suggest i should choose and what should i start on first? levelling, quests or skills?

It's a trap! No really, it is.
First, the game is pretty fun from level 1 to 60, but at 60 it becomes really boring. The only things to do at 60 are, grind for rep, grind for gold, terrible pvp, and raiding. If you don't raid, you won't be uber enough to take people on in pvp who do raid or go to the next tier of raids. Raids last for hours and just boil down to fighting with a super sized NPC with aton of health. Also the quests, the quests are either kill X, get Y, or go to Z. (Like most MMORPGS)
Well that makes it soudn like you will be 60 in 2 days. I think it is a fun game - take your time enjoy the ride to 60. I stayed away becuase what people said - "it's for kids, there is no depths, it's a grind, the end is pvp." Well all that may be true but until you get so jadded I think there is a lot of fun to be had. That new area you have never explored holds many new creatures and adventures (some are bigger versions of ones you have seen but many are new) there is always bigger better loot - new skills, more to achieve. The pace is fast but not too fast. You can get a level a night at a gingerly pace up to 30 for sure maybe farther in small groups or even solo.
You do quests, you kill stuff - its your standard game. I think it can keep you occupied until 50 when it really slows down - so I hear. Maybe I am still in the honeymoon stage but it is a fun game and in the couple months of causual play I dont see it getting boring any time soon. Hell I used to log on here looking for the next big game now I am too busy playing having fun and still looking for that next big game. I'd rather be playing waiting for something better than posting in a forum waiting.

As with most MMORPGs, you choose what you want to do and what your play style is.
If you're a hardcore PVPer, you'll want to play a class that you are comfortable with and spec your character (With both talent points and gear) towards PVP. Same goes for PVE.
As for a class, I recommend trying all of them for about 10 levels. This will take about 2-5 hours depending on your skill level (which will increase after each character!) but will help you choose which one you like best.
I also recommend going to www.worldofwarcraft.com and looking at the class forums. There are TONS of guides in each class forum, and there will be a lot of information on the class so you can see which one appeals to you.
Every class also has a potential of three ways their character can be (for example, Paladins can be mainly healers, mainly protectors [tank, etc], or mainly damage dealers [heh...]) based on their talent specs. This adds some further customization that you can do. Say you want to be a Priest but decide you'd rather do more damage than healing (say, for PVP!). You can then spec down the Shadow talent tree and become a powerful caster with a lot of damage output.
There are a lot of customization options, but there are still limits to characters. Some may be great hand to hand, while others may only be good ranged. These are things you'll have to figure out yourself.
WoW is a great game, ESPECIALLY for people new to MMORPGs. It CAN get slow around level 40 or so depending on what you're doing, but there are a lot of options opened to you. Don't listen to the WoW bashers - most of the time they have absolutely no fact behind their arguments.
If you ask 10 different people which class is their favorite you'll probably get 10 different answers. I suggest you read up on the warcraft website and see what each class can do and make your decision. You pretty much get unlimited characters so it's not really a big deal if you make a char and you don't end up liking him.
I haven't played all the classes, but my personal favorite is the hunter. Rogue is fun too.
Do yourself a favour, download and install trial. Then repair it and follow instructions to join a private server. so much more fun and free.
No annoying animated GIF here!
Get a life you freaking Gamer.....no no, you don't understand, I'm a Gamer, I have many lives!!
WoW would be a good introduction into MMO's for you, the learning curve is very well balanced so you will not become stuck in the first five minutes, but at the same time there is plenty to keep you interested.
As for which character/race to start with, probably the simplest to get to grips with the game would be a Human Warrior or Rogue. The Human area is probably the easiest to get started in as everything from the quests to the major city are all pretty close together, so no huge hauls to get anywhere. Also Warriors and Rogues probably offer you the most straight forward way into combat without having to worry about spell combo's etc at first.
Don't forget though that you can have up to 10 characters at a time on any one server, so there is plenty of scope for experimenting. Just jump in there and enjoy the game, don't worry too much about the whole "getting to L60" thing too much until you have a grip on it all.
Enjoy!
It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays.
Hi All!
Thanks for all the recommendations! I haven't really been good at anything to do with spells, much less spell combinations. I'm sort of a kamikaze when it comes to gaming, like jumping into the fray and try beat everyone to a pulp before collapsing. (It's why i always run out of ammo in F.E.A.R.) so i think i might go for a fighter class or something similar. I glad WoW isn't as difficult as i had thought it'd be. Now all i need is to wait till chirtsmas and get the game!

Is there an ingame tutorial before you actually start? I know how to move and all, but i like tutorials, just as the extra boost.
Also, in your character slots that you're allowed, are you restricted to one race and side or can you have diffrent races on both the Horde and Alliance?
Avoid warlocks (they're complicated to play but nasty at high levels), if you want to group much then stay away from hunters and rogues (they're the most popular classes). Otherwise, pick one that seems like it will be fun and try it; you can create more characters on a server than there are classes, so there's no worry if you decide to 'reroll' later. Although you didn't ask it, play on one of the newer servers - on an old server most players will be way past any of the lowbie content that you'll be spending time on.
The last thing you should try to do in WOW is to powerlevel, the best content is in the 1-59 game, it really changes at 60. Pretty much start following the quests in the starter areas, they'll help you find your way around. Try different things and definately don't try to skip by the instances, the low-level dungeons are some of the best in the game.
could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?
