Hi there, EQ2 players! Here's in Russia going release of EQ2 on Russian language, for low price ~20$ (including all addons and 30-free for play days), I never played in EQ2 before, but should I buy it? Players in EQ2 who playing more than 3 months, what u'll suggest? It's scare away me about only SOE, because they destroyed game what I loved (Star Wars Galaxies)... EQ2, what it's looks like, by game play, it's looks like 4 me as Oblivion + Guild Wars, is it interesting to play long time in it?

If you're in the right timezone, EQ2 is awesome. Much of the game relies on finding groups which I have found to be very hard for myself living in Japan at the moment.

The game is and pretty much always was pretty newbie friendly. The graphics are awesome, and I have often times looked at my screen and thought that I was playing Oblivion. The combat is much more intense than other games like Guild Wars and ESPECIALLY WoW, which bores me to hell because of it's amazingly repetetive combat. You can expect that out of any MMO, but for some reason WoW's burns my very soul.

There was a big patch a long time ago that in my opinion fixed A LOT more than it broke. They already did their "SWG" type rehaul, and it didn't piss quite as many people off. Still, it's SOE, so you will need to take everything with a grain of salt, if you catch my meaning.

I'd say put down the 20 bucks, try the 30 days free, and if you like it enough get a subscription to the Station Pass, and if EQ2 ever gets old, you can hop to some new games without much hassle.

Good luck, and have fun Triel.

I see u allready liked from station games Planetside

I think that I'm living in right timezone, well, u just mean finding the group in top time for players, ic... Well if it's looks like Oblivion, then great! When I played in Morrowind and dreams about online Morrowind ;) Well, why not, when I'll get some moneys I'll buy it ;)

P.S. I playing in TM nations too, isn't that great game? :D

    Hell yeah! TrackMania is awesome.

Love the graphics, and love the music even more! I play it whenever I get frustrated at EQ2 and/or Planetside. Keeps me from throwing my computer out the window.

Sometimes you just need something simple like that.

Anyhow, good luck and have fun in EQ2.

You should not reward a company that already exibits bad faith and poor business decisions. What SOE did to SWG is iinexcusable and is one of the many unpopular game manipulations they have commited. Punish them like the way they freely punish thier customers and do not play and SOE MMO.

EQ2 has quietly become one of the best games out there; it's definitely worth giving it a try.

Don’t you mean what Lucas Arts did to SWG is inexcusable?

Amen to that, its easy for people to blame SOE and not the ones behind the scenes who are actually pulling the strings.

You'd be amazed how so few people realize this fact.

To the OP.  Its a cheap game even with all the current expansions.  Also included is a 30 day trial to play free to see if you would like it.  Why not give it a whirl .............  On the other hand, how much do you as a new player to the game plan on gettin accomplished in those 30 days?  Let us not be naive to the understanding of an MMORPG, the begining is nothing related to what is at the end, be it bad or good ..........

To this SWG debate.  I see two sides to this fence ........ Sony killed SWG or Lucas Arts killed SWG .......... both claim to have facts, so where are these facts?

I played eq2 from day 1 till about a month ago now.  I saw Sony, and only Sony,  doing the same kind of game altering changes that are so famed in the SWG debate.  And besides it seems both companies are capable of all the claims made against them, so why is there a debate anyways?

Well, I decide, due yesterday, I repaired my wheelpad Thrustmaster, I'll going to buy today TOCA3 Race driver to play online in DTM mode :D This how I'll not support SOE ;)

I just got the EQ2 game and am liking it okay (fun enough for a while, I think).  But what are these inexcusable alterations done to the game?  I'm very interested in knowing what they deemed "not working" and changed?

    Thanks.

**Edited** I found a thread that covers this topic.  Thanks for those who would have responded, however.

I'm not amazed... considering how most people just like to blame SOE on everything that is wrong with their games because it's the easiest route. Little do they know... *cough*

When people say that it usually amounts to one of 4 things.

“I play a Templar, and I should be the games only true healer.  The other 5 priest classes should have rolled a Templar if they wanted to heal”

(From release we were told all 6 priest classes would be specialist healers with different strengths and weaknesses.  Despite this Templars got it into their heads that they and only they should be the healers of the game.)

“I play a Guardian, I should be damage immune and none of the other tank classes should be able to tank”

(From release we were told all 6 fighter classes would be tanks with again, with each having different strengths and weaknesses.  Despite this guardians got it into their heads that they and only they should be the tanks of the game.)

“I play a monk or berserker, and even though I’m supposed to be a tank if I can’t out damage every mage and scout in the game I’m going to complain”

(From release we were told that Mages and Scouts were the primary DPS classes, though some were more specialized towards DPS while others had either crowd control/buffs or some hybrid abilities.  Despite this tanks were the top DPS classes for a long time and many of them resent the fact this is no longer the case)

“I play a Paladin and should be able to solo anything in the game”

(Paladins were a tank class with high DPS and heals.  They couldn’t compete with Guardians for the role of main tank but they had the armor, heals and DPS to solo almost anything.  Many resent that they are now limited to soloing solo mobs and acting as a MT the way the class was intended.)

While nice for the classes involved this obviously this leaves 20 other classes with no role or purpose in the game, but the people who played the overpowered classes don’t care about such things as long as they got to be more ubar then anyone else.  In addition to the above, Rangers, Summoners and Warlocks went through significant periods of being overpowered.  To some degree Summoners still are, but it it’s intolerable.
