Anyway, the official forums apear to be open again, so I decided to run the analyzer again.
There are now twice as many subscribers logged in as in April, averaged over the prime-time.
The number of guests (people browsing but not logged in) is same as it was.
Take it as you will.

How do you tell how many people are logged in? Or am I missing a info page on the SOE forums. I have been (off and on) keeping an eye on the length of time between the 1st post and last post on the 1st page of the general forum. It has shown a slow down. Last week it was up to 55 minutes at its worst. Generally through the day there is a 20 minute span.
Course Pre-CU it was under a ONE minute. The jedi Forums were similar.
See you in the dream..
The Fires from heaven, now as cold as ice. A rapid ascension tolls a heavy price.
And twice as many btching about restuss/expertise.

It sounds great, so great in fact, I pitty those who canceled - Some deluded SWG fanboi who pities me.
I don't like it when you say things. - A Vanguard fan who does too.

To be technical, any post about Restuss or Expertise is infinity more then what was back in April since it hadn't been announced/showen at that point
I noticed twice as many of these ---->
Please, someone tell me WTH this is??? It bothers me now...
I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!
In fact, forget the SWG!!!!
If your answer is "no" to any of these questions, I would guess that you have no "analyzer" and are therefore full of dingo's kidneys!

import Str, Files, Java;
var f = "c:\forumlog.txt";
var process = fun()
var s = "";
var D = Java_New("java.util.Date");
s = s + D.toString() + " : ";
var P = GetURL("http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/users_online");
var userBlock = Parent(Pat(P, "Showing Members online")[0]);
var totalOnline = Elem(userBlock, "b");
s = s + Text(totalOnline[1]) + " ";
s = s + Str_Split(Text(PCData(userBlock)[4]), " (")[1] + "
";
Print(s);
Files_AppendToFile(f, s);
end;
while true do
Trap(process());
Sleep(120000);
end;
You'll need WebL from compaq and Java 1.3 or higher.
Do not change the sleep to less than 2 minutes, preferably not less than 30, since you could be banned for spamming their webserver.
Setting it to 5 seconds will (or at least it used to), result in temporary IP ban.

I can tell you right now that doesn't work. Nice try though sorry you are not dealing with an idiot here. Thanks for proving my point.
Little help, cause I am a nice guy, "http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/users_online" Doesn't exist any more... its a re-direct page. Save face man quit while you are behind!

Do you have a disconnect from reality?
Did you even try to run the script? It's java -jar Webl.jar <scriptname>.webl
The java html class handles redirects.
Here, running right now:
D:webl>java -jar WebL.jar swgforums.webl

Why yes I must have a dissconnect from reality since I don't believe everything that comes out fo your pie hole.
http://soe.lithium.com/users_online at least will show you how many are currently online. And hey you don't even need to run any scripts! Woot! lol
All MMOs see an increase in users during the summer months. That's when school is out.
That's also why you are seeing so many outraged players posting. A lot of these are players that are just now seeing these changes for the first time. When you log on looking for SWG and find Diablo 2 running you're going to be a little upset.

Rekrul,
Thanks for the link. Do you know if/how station passes factor into the users online or guests? Or do you log into each games forums separately?
I also had scripts for number of newly registered users, but I can't find them now. That number shows directly how many new forum accounts are created over a given time span. That number is directly proportional to number of new subscriptions.
Duplicate users are not differentiated here, but the rule of 1 account/1 subscription still applies, so it's irrelevant.
August is peak time. During the summer of CU servers were crashing, some were capped, many were heavy. Comparing the 2000+ forum accounts to current 1100 gives a rather accurate picture of the subscription drop, and related population in the galaxies.
This number would be in the order of 100k-150k subscriptions of unknown type (as compared to the alleged 200-250k before NGE)
As I said, this number may mean something, or it may mean absolutely nothing. But with a little rational aproach, it's rather straightforward to come to reasonable estimates.
Subs always increase after a new publish. Nothing new really.
edit- of course, they (at least since the NGE) go back down by the next billing cycle

In april forum activity was 1/3 of what it used to be before NGE.
so when the NGE hit and when the forum use expanded 10 times to what it was. This was because people where in fact flooding in to the game.
My turn to spin.
No it just means what player they do have are complaining not playing The wheels of the spin go round an round!!!
Even scanning down that you can see multiple entries where the same player is counted twice. It's not even as though these are sperate forum accounts, it's the same account.
If 4 from the first 30 entries contain duplicates, tha tputs the total logged on in some doubt.
Odd. I've not signed on but I've been there for 24 minutes already....

So, you all sat in camps and that was fun?

I didn't register for the forums until the CU came along.
