I have played SWG for 3 years off and on.

Things to consider before playing.

1 Do you Like PVP?

2 Do You like unbalanced Game play?

3 Do You enjoy having your game change completely every 6 months?

4 Do You Enjoy being ganked? and then called Names?

5 Do you enjoy geting less then helpful Ingame help from CSR's?

6 Do you like to be threatened by SOE and have your account suspened?

7 Do you enjoy Questing alone?

8 Do you enjoy having players of your same Faction(rebel or Imperial) Hunt you for a Bounty? Even if your pvping the other faction when the BH ganks you?

9 Do you enjoy FPS?

10 Do you like being ganked by 3-4 Bounty Hunters at one time?

11 Do you enjoy not being able to use the offical Chat rooms on SWG launch pad?

12 Do you like not being able to ever become a Uber Elder jedi Like me?

13 Do you like jedi using ranged blasters instead of there Lightsaber?

14 Please add more , And I think Im gona make this its own topic.

    6 Do you like to be threatened by SOE and have your account suspened? Never had this happen in about 3 years of subscription time.

    7 Do you enjoy Questing alone? Why do you ? I grind the same way I always have off mobs , Works fine get a lvl about every hour of it and I am in the mid 80's

    8 Do you enjoy having players of your same Faction(rebel or Imperial) Hunt you for a Bounty? Even if your pvping the other faction when the BH ganks you?   Doesn't bother me , It adds to the feeling I am in a civil war .

    9 Do you enjoy FPS? Yeah but not in an MMO , thats why I use Target lock and auto fire . And fire my specials from my toolbar .

    10 Do you like being ganked by 3-4 Bounty Hunters at one time?  Hasn't happened yet I'll' let you know after it does

    11 Do you enjoy not being able to use the offical Chat rooms on SWG launch pad?  I either talk on vent , Ingame chat or here . Never had  a desire to even open that .

    12 Do you like not being able to ever become a Uber Elder jedi Like me?  Meh being a jedi never was an interest of mine .

    13 Do you like jedi using ranged blasters instead of there Lightsaber?  WHat ever gets the job done. Besides Jedi used guns here and there.

    7 Do you enjoy Questing alone? Actually, yes I do. Play WoW, get to 60, and then see who consists of all the elite raids, and think, do I want to spend 4 hours a day every day of the week with these jerkoffs?
    8 Do you enjoy having players of your same Faction(rebel or Imperial) Hunt you for a Bounty? Even if your pvping the other faction when the BH ganks you? Never happened to me, but yeah, that is a pretty crappy practice.
    9 Do you enjoy FPS? Yes, I have been known to enjoy me a good FPS from time to time.
    10 Do you like being ganked by 3-4 Bounty Hunters at one time? Nothing like a gang-bang to get one's blood pumping. And hey, at least that's consistent with the storyline, if you ever read in the books about the underhanded practices of the BH guild.

    For One in any civil war , if your said budy would hunt and kill you , then the rest of that faction would try to Kill or banish them to the other faction.

    There should be punishment for hunting your own kind. Least a -5000 faction cost.

    And for Questing alone, I do not mean grinding to lvl 90, silly.

    You can get lvl 1 to 90 in less then 2 days running Restuss Quest missions.

    I meant actruly questing, HK-47, Corvette, most the major quest require a half a group or a full one to complete. This is hard because as of now, everyone is trying to earn the Commedations to get the new armor. and now with BH and jedi Expertise system, Im seeing less and less other professions, Saw 1 Medic today woot!

    After Luke became a Jedi, when did you see him use a blaster?

    OP - when you start a thread with "to consider before buying" #1 is will you put your faith in pascal programers coding in C++ .

    Onluy play SWG if you are prepared for everything you achieve to be made null and for everything you have to be made invlid every 6 months.

    Actually, are we talking about straight Pascal, or the Pascal that Borland International developed for Delphi?  The latter rocked!  Anybody good with it would have no trouble learning C++ overnight so to speak.

    2 Do You like unbalanced Game play?  Actually I have no problem with it.  What I do have problems with is a playerbase full of alpha class jedi.  Balance means squat.  But being able to be uber alpha with no effort and no risk is insane.

    5 Do you enjoy geting less then helpful Ingame help from CSR's?  Somehow I never had the need for a CSR to play the game in my 3 years.  What am I missing that I don't need CSRs to constantly intervene on my behalf?
    6 Do you like to be threatened by SOE and have your account suspened?  There is little tolerance of differing opinion by SOE and I don't like it.
    7 Do you enjoy Questing alone?  I like questing alone quite often thank you.  And I like questing with others.  And thanks to my superior personality  I never had problems getting a group together.  And you know what?  Almost every time I did I wished I could have just done it alone or with 1 or 2 smart friends.
    8 Do you enjoy having players of your same Faction(rebel or Imperial) Hunt you for a Bounty? Even if your pvping the other faction when the BH ganks you?  I think same faction BH killings are stupid.  BH should not be Rebel or Imperial.  As far as the timing of being ganked, ce'st la vie.  Do you publish a schedule of acceptable times for ganking when you are not going to cry about it?  Is today a good day to die?
    9 Do you enjoy FPS?  No.  Waiter, there is an FPS in my MMORPG!!!
    10 Do you like being ganked by 3-4 Bounty Hunters at one time?  Whoopie doo.  Being hunted is part of the game.  Do not choose a huntable class if you cannot handle the consequences.
    11 Do you enjoy not being able to use the offical Chat rooms on SWG launch pad?  Good God!  Gamebreaker!!!!!  I play SWG just to use the chat room on the launch pad.

    As you can see I disagree on a lot of the implied issues above.  I agree on some as well.  I just never cared for either side of the Jedi/BH debate.  For crying out loud, it's a war.  Most of the Jedi issues with BH ganking are whiny at best.  You're a J E D I, a powerful class.  It's called intelligent strategy to outnumber you or catch you offguard while you are doing something else.

    Do you honestly think Boba Fett or Jango Fett would have backed off of a kill because the Jedi they were hunting was in the middle of a fight against the Empire? 

    And then SOE is held responsible for the Jedis' lack of understanding of this principle.  "It's faulty game mechanics."  Bah.

    And when BH whine about Jedi I could slap them as well.  "They are too powerful!"  Wahhhh, yeah, ever seen the movies?

    Balance is another topic I HATE.  "Your class is more powerful than mine.  SOE, please nerf now!!!!!"  Bring friends.  Use strategy.  Above all, THINK.  Use your strengths in concert with others in your PvP group.  Work as a team.  I used to take a Master Rifleman / Master Weaponsmith into battle and have a good time and contribute despite his defensive weakness.  Because I had a smart loyal group of friends that understood enough to protect me from melee and they did.  They did their job so my T21 could do it's job.  I was the weakest guy out there in most of the PvP battles I was in, yet caused more havoc than you would believe.  Balance is overrated.

    This post struck a nerve with me because it reminds me of the posts that brought us the CU and later the NGE.  SOE listened too much in the past when they should not have, and that is as close as I will come to forgiving them for their AWFUL, WRETCHED design and implementation of what they perceived to be the solution to the "problems" you listed above.  Almost everything you ask above was seen as a problem even before the CU.

    Hmm...this as always been a problem on all MMORPG I played, tbh.

    Never got that far, I tend to cancel before I am that pissed off.

    Depends on the class I'm playing, did it often before NGE with my pets...untill my guildies joined for a bigger hunt.

    Nope, went neutral, this game lacks balance for decent PVP, so why bother.

    Yes, a lot, but SWG doesn't qualify

    I'm a Bounty Hunter, though that was just a suport for MCH. Haven't made any BH quests since NGE, but back on hunt Jedi days, I did have a BH mate on my team, and if we found a mark....well...we didn't roll dice to see who would be gancked by it

    After all the mess they have done to my characters, that is not something I would be concerned about.

    Yes, because I never went after that in the first place, was quite happy role playing my Master Creature Handler. In fact, the worst time I had in game before NGE was when most guild was grinding professions to unlock one, having no time left or decent skills to do Nightsisters (they used to be strong) or any other harder task.

    I find it funny, next step will be allowing any other class to use Lightsaber.

    The fee required to play this Beta test is a lot more expensive then the one required by the game they are trying to emulate...

    A frontal lobotomy would be good advice for anyone thinking of buying. I feel they will benefit most from the nge experience.

Put this in context i dueled jsut before expertise a fellow jedi i am an elder with all the elder kit using a capped 2h orh hilt vs his best new jedi gear and a capped jinsu razor hilt. I won but only jsut even with all the buffs in use. It boiled down to the fact i used my heal at the right time that came from eperience.

    Lack of testing and lack or listening to feedback by soe. The expertise system was a total mess for jedi and all feedback was ignored by soe. Ok they fixed it so both dark and light can sue a 10k but that makes light have onyl 1 tree different to darks 2. What idiot thought up that sort of lunacy a 10k heal that orignally was jsut for one side of the force. I mean great for my light jedi bad for any dark. So that's the only thing they lsitened to.

    Ok i made some erros that need to be corrected. Firstly luke didn't become a jedi knight till after vaders death so i never. As an aprentice he did so no real uspet there. However we are all technically aprentices and padawans as there is no jedi council to set us our challenge to prove our understanding of the force to become a jedi knight and the such. Time as one in my opinion proves nothing.

    I have personally played 2 years 3 months. I was a ranger pre cu, a medic in the inital following cu and a jedi from about spetember last year. As to uber jedi who's an uber jedi on farstar there are none left now i would consider ot be uber they all left a long time ago. Attiutde wise a lot of elder jedis i meet have a servere attitude problem. I don't liek that jedi is a starter prof it ain't the new plaeyrs fault it is so play niely guys and teach them what we had to learn the hard way

Put this in context i dueled jsut before expertise a fellow jedi i am an elder with all the elder kit using a capped 2h orh hilt vs his best new jedi gear and a capped jinsu razor hilt. I won but only jsut even with all the buffs in use. It boiled down to the fact i used my heal at the right time that came from eperience.
    13 Do you like jedi using ranged blasters instead of there Lightsaber? Yes look at luke and it gives them no advantage as they lose the use of block.

    Lack of testing and lack or listening to feedback by soe. The expertise system was a total mess for jedi and all feedback was ignored by soe. Ok they fixed it so both dark and light can sue a 10k but that makes light have onyl 1 tree different to darks 2. What idiot thought up that sort of lunacy a 10k heal that orignally was jsut for one side of the force. I mean great for my light jedi bad for any dark. So that's the only thing they lsitened to.
