Holding Out for the next Square Enix MMORPG

FleshMaskFleshMask Member UncommonPosts: 249

Square Enix announced they were in the process of making another MMORPG, and they also said they plan to make it another franchise name... so it won't be a Final Fantasy title.

I am waiting to hear what they got, because I am a FFXI fan (it was my first MMO). Maybe something to knock the socks off all the other MMOs that are out now.

If you have any info please post it here.

    Fleshmask,

Its gonna be called Fantasy Earth: The Ring of Dominion, or at least thats what it is now.

Looks different from FFXI, much fresher graphics but the people look more Disney-like.. Think Kingdom hearts without Mickey and friends.

A search on any site will probably bring up some screenshots.  It looks very good so far, and if they take the basic things from FFXI that made that good and leave out gilseller opportunities, theyll get a lot of mature player dollars and another huge following. Or...

They could do what the Everquest ppl did after EQ1 and made EQII... lol.. still a toss up.

I hope you don't need PlayOnline to play.  That is just lame.

Should threads have a warning for extremely uninformed debate?

Please people!  The setting for another Square-Enix MMORPG has not been announced.

http://www.gamespot.com/pages/profile/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-24617411&user=Kruza Check this link for all info. released so far about new MMORPG.  Fantasy Earth is already out in Japan, dont expect a US release.(Dont think it's doing so well)  Anyways, FE isn't the title being mentioned here, it's SEs next-gen MMORPG that is.  I hope to get solid details at Tokyo Game Show.  I'm in the same boat, taking a break until this next one comes out or I'll try Age Of Conan/Warhammer, whichever comes first.

Fantasy Earth has been out in Japan for some time. Yes, it does require PlayOnline. It is big on realm-vs-realm combat, and seems to be something of a conbination of Dark Age of Camelot and Lineage II, which some unique elements of its own. There do not seem to be any plans to bring it to the US. The new rumors are about a *third* MMORPG, about which very little is known. The firmest speculations seem to be that a) it will not be Final Fantasy and b) it'll be for the PS3, and possibly the the PC.

Hadn't heard this, but I can't say I'm too surprised. SE never seemed that enthusiastic about it. I remember thinking it looked to be in trouble when they cut the number of character classes to three.
