I've played both, and for awhile I was very active in both. I don't play COH/COV anymore (my best characters were a lvl 33 Scrapper and a lvl 17 Dominator), but as others have stated, the games are practically in different universes.
For example:
1. COV is very big for instant gratification, it's very easy to get into. EVE generally is not, it takes some effort to find your niche.
2. COV has many shards, EVE has one.
3. COV has instancing, EVE doesn't
4. You actions in COV largely do not have any impact on the game world at large, while powerful industrialists, alliances and PVPers have made major inroads in the world.
5. An expansion on 1. CoV is much easier to learn.
6. Both games allow new players to work with old players at least in some capacity.
7. In COV, no number of lower level players can beat a high level player (if you discount the sidekick system), while in EVE, a swarm of low level players can take down a vet and/or be a valuable player in a larger fleet.
8. COV has a semi closed class system, EVE has a open skill system.
9. COV's level system is xp based, EVE's skill system is time based.
One big thing about EVE is PVP, and as far as I'm concerned, it's miles above the PVP in COV. I will admit, I have had a couple very fun PVP experiences in COV. (In Bloody Bay for example, I was leading team a team of 3 heroes in the asteroid mission trying to outwit this very talented stalker). But towards the end of my subscription, PVP in that area (less true in Siren's Call, and Warburg has been empty) largely degraded to heroes camping one of the entrances to the archnos base. While in EVE if you are part of a talented group, you can seriously disrupt the daily operations of an opposing alliance/corp or even gain control of a piece of territory.
I feel, in order for you to learn the game and find your niche as quickly as possible. First complete the tutorial and the missions of your tutorial agent. Then consider joining EVE University. They are a 0.0 corp that primary purpose is to show new players the ropes.
Welcome to EVE, hope you have fun.

Good to hear Ray, again, welcome to EVE
But remember, EVE can be slow at times, sometimes too slow. This game requires patience.
But IMHO the biggest thing that will give you enjoyment in EVE is finding a home, most likely a good corp and/or alliance, or just a nice place to hang out (which is harder to find). Because it is within a group that pursues concrete goals that the enjoyment of EVE really shines. That IMHO, is the biggest hurdle to jump before you enjoy EVE.
Also, unless you want to do something else while you make money in EVE, DON'T DO COURIER MISSIONS.
If you have any concerns, feel free to post them here and in the EVE forums, we'll be happy to help you.
Again, welcome to EVE.
God Bless
what is courier missions? I never seen them. I just do agent though.
I made money fast way is do agent and mining. that all O.o
Blah
Player generated courier missions are one way trips. The rewards can be substantial but often times you will be required to provide collatoral for the package you are delivering. The cost of collatoral can be pretty large at time, depending on how important the cargo you're delivering is.
When you get bored of the courier missions, and you will, try the combat agent missions. Look for command, security, or internal security agents.
Blah
Security, Internal Security, Survaillance, and Command give mostly kill agent missions, where you have to fight NPCs. Look for agents you can use.
Okay Thanks, By the way, I always do that. It gave me mission to travel (not combat).
-.-
I'll try see anyway. Hey guys.. what your favorite race?
Gakdari?
Minmatar?
Amarr?
Gallente?
Don't have any favorite?
