EBay

PotBS imho has the makings of an awesome game and i am looking forward to its release, however i am more concerned about "EBay" taking over, in all MMO's i have played & loved over the past 8 years! EBayers have ruined them.

I am just wondering if the devs are taking serious consideration into this topic, as most other MMO devs are all talk and no action, which is very sad!!! i beleive games are meant to be played for fun, not to be used as an income!

Random BS post i know but i had to add my 2 cents ^^

BAN THE BOTS!!

I fully agree with you. BOTS comming in or Farming corporations should be banned.    With all the work that i've read and heard about going into this game's Economy, i would hate to have it ruined by greedy Bots, Farmmers, or even Lazy MMO players using eBay.

    Lol, I love you guys.

"OMG THOSE BAD BAD FARMERS RUIN EVERY GAME CRY CRY CRY"
And then you talk about economy and how they ruined that too and so on.

Well now that's strange because I have never seen a MMO that got "ruined" by "goldfarming", not even wow.
The only thing that had and will have ruin something are devs and companies like SOE/EA.
The only thing where I can agree are bots, they can really HURT the community.

    1. you will never stop people from selling ingame stuff
    2. who cares? if someone wants to waste his hard earned money on ingame items let him have it
    3. it wont ruin any game, it didn't ruin WoW and that's one of the biggest farmer games on earth. If you say it did ruin it then you have no clue, or you were a miner that didn't know how to make money

So stop overreacting, you will be part of the game/economy and therefor you have control over it.
Besides, the devs implemented many ways to prevent extreme item selling.

    My point being:

just interested on how PotBS devs are gonna look into this and, or if they are going to be strict on it! i know it cannot be ruled out altogether but doing something about it is better than nothing at all!

imo this is a valid topic for discussion, ppl can bitch or whine if they feel they need to but the post is not directed at any one individual, so please dont make it out to be!

    WoW - 5 toons (60 Paladin, 60 Mage, 60 Rogue, 60 Warrior, 53 Warlock)

LineageII - Many inc. 68 Warsmith 65 TH 59 Bounty hunter and others

also played Mankind, GuildWars, Hero and a few others

Maybe I'm too new to online games (only played 2 others in the last 7 years, UO and Horizons) but I have to agree somewhat with Lumster on this one.  I guess I dont see the concern with people selling what they've "earned" in any game online for rl cash.

I mean, seriously...If someone pays for the service to play the game by the rules the creators have established and can somehow actually make money while they do so, it just seems like good business...

After all, it is a game.

Feel free to respond.  I've been drinking.

well as of yet, i have not seen the EULA agreement or rules of conduct for PotBS yet, but on all other games they kinda have something like this:-

    1. You may not advertise the intent to or commit the act of buying, selling, trading, sharing, or transferring access to any Lineage II account.
    2. You may not advertise the intent to or commit the act of buying or selling items for cash or trading items from one server to another.
    3. You may not arrange for the exchange or transfer of any pirated or illegal software while using the Lineage II game or website.

(taken from http://www.lineage2.com/legal/rules.html purely as an example, if it wrong to do so then plz delete thread)

Ingame content belongs to the dev and always will, so if people want to buy/sell on ebay then fine, but it is just nice to see when serious actions/consequences are taken for those involved in cheating.

i dont believe that everyone does this but for those that do, it does have a long term detrimental effect on any game but the truth is it cannot be stopped i know but why make it so easy.....

I had a mutual friend ingame that required my help, so i spent several days about 25hours total helping him powerlevel toons, 5 in total, in return i asked him to help me for 2 hours to get an alt toon of mine to lvl40 (currently 36) ok, andhe was to pay me 15million game currency for my service for materials that i would use to boom him/his toons.  anyway, he didnt help me or pay up, no biggy! i just wrote it off and blocked him. then i discover he was running an illegal 3rd party application, as he was afk i hit his toon, no response so i though to myself......

    PAYBACK!

yeah, reported him, took screenies and film footage and sent to devs, they banned 7 of his accounts, which also led to a further 11 accounts banned, all accounts being bots! was a good days work for me and i have NO remorse whatsoever! what was even more funny was to hear him crying on vent!!

kk nothing to do with PotBS so i apologise all!

The topic is just something i feel strongly about, plz dont hate me or diss me for that! I am just standing up for what i believe in and if i can make that tiny little bit of difference - great! if not, at least i tried!

    Lumster: Then you're blind.
Selling gold implies farming gold and there no mmorpgs on the markat that have been designed to withstand farming.
Take WOW - farming mobs have skewed economy balance to drop items, so that no profession profitabe anymore. Why pay 4g for a scope, when friendly farmer have much better guns at 2g per piece?

Companies like IGE directly encourage botting and exploiting.
