    Druid. Blizzard favors them.

Wow, just wow. I am guessing this is your first MMO. Unfortunatly, there is no best class for raids. You almost need every class. Warrior=tank, Priest/druid/>>>pally=healer, Pally=Cleanse-bot, so on. But, since healers seem to be in strong demand, go with a priest/druid.

I agree that Priest/Druids are always in demand for raid groups. Warlocks are usually in demand too.

If you want to always have a group: Priest (Dwarf if alliance, Undead if Horde)
If you want to have a jack of all trades: Druid
If you want to have something that is easy to solo: Hunter, Rogue, Mage
If you want to just have fun and nuke things: Mage

I would suggest playing a Druid or Mage for your first character depending if you prefer melee/healing (Druid)  or damage dealing (Mage).

These are my views and don't reflect the community at large.

  • I would avoid being healer, especially if its your first class.  The hassle and the bad gear choices/people not letting you get gear is just not worth it.

    I'd go Paladin.

Very usefully in raids/groups and able to solo very well too.

There is not realy a best class, always depend on your type of play.

Paladin/Shaman - Nice solo first class, tank with healer, easy to solo and strong is you want to PvP sometimes.
Druid - Very nice class, maybe not for the first one. Lots of different shapeshift, go from tank to rogue style of play, can heal.
Priest - Awsome class but very hard to level because doesn't do lots of damage, but very in demand.
Mage - Damage dealer class, one of the fastest class to level with all the portal that save you from traveling.
Rogue - Easy to level with stealth, damage dealer, good PvP.
Warrior - When I was playing it was the worst class, prefer played Paladin or Shaman.
Warlock - My favorite one to solo, as multiple pet to keep agro, lots of damage overtime, can heal and rez himself.
Hunter - Is a good solo class with pet to keep agro but lack of everything that the Warlock as.

    I don't I am missing anything.

are you allowed to ask for passwords and logins on this site? lol

oh....and this is not my first MMO. i played SWG since the 3rd day it came out, i played CoV, i played DnD Online, and i was just thinking i'd give this game a go before Vanguard: Saga of Heroes comes out and crushes all other games ^_^.

oh yeah...i read a whole forum (the hunter forum on WoW site) about how there's no perfect class...lol they're all whining about how their class keeps getting nerfed and it's not useful anymore. so naturally i went for the class that keeps getting nerfed....they wouldnt nerf it if it wasn't a great class right? right....=) so i'm a hunter and then i also made a "Vending Machine" to supply my friends with food and water.....hehe never seen a class in an MMO work as a vending machine....i love it lol

Thx for the info, i'll be making a druid soon

I'm glad your first character was a Hunter and you made a Mage. Good choices to learn the game.
Please keep in mind that you might get tired of one class after a while. It never hurts to let one character earn rest state and try another class. If I had it to do over again, I'd have played 3-5 classes to level 10 before I picked one to level to 60.

read up on it, maybe check a couple of talent build guides, and roll a lock.  gnome (alliance) or orc (horde) would be my recommendations, but that's just me.

Eww.... Gnome? /spit Gnomes have less heath slightly more int then the human locks. Unless you want to have escape artests ability. But like i've said in the game. "There is nothing a gnome can do that a human can't do better." All be it I just hate gnomes anyway, but still.

The escape artist ability was AWESOME, back when i played. Who'd say no to another free trinket slot/or double up on PvP trinket? Perception is so situational, that it's almost worthless. Diplomacy is great when farming rep, but after that.. Useless. Gnome>All.

Blah! You're a fool! Escape artist is just as situational as perception. What player base thing will it get you out of? Net-O-matic and frost nova? I'd rather have perception and see stealthed people in the next contenant. Then again I do love my mage... Its not like I used PvP trinkets. Personally want the trinkets to go away again. I still think for a lot of people they are a crutch.

If you mean by numbers then yes. Whats everyone's thought when they want to make a rogue? "I wanna make a nightelf rogue cause they're cool."

  • I would say Priests too, right spell combination can pull off the impossible.

I'm going to assume you're a bit of a soloer, and go with Warlock.  That would be my top choice for solo PvE.  Other good choices are Hunter, Paladin, Shaman, Druid.l

All classes are equally valued, it depends on what you mean by 'best' ultimatly, end game, every class is needed to its extent, it just depends on what you enjoy doing. must ask yourself, do i want to lay out the damage? hold and tank all the dmg? or heal?

if you want to be good in battlegrounds/world pvp- warlock/hunter/rogue

if you are a people person/ center of attention ;) - priest

    tank-self explanitory

    cant decide? - go hybrid
