Im curious how people feel in general about Israel and their course of action.

Israel should have started this ground offensive in the beginning. Those air raids were disgusting. I still can't believe they can try to justify their bombing of neighborhoods.
I think they are patient peoples who are too nice.
The medias doesn't underline for how long they have receive rocket prior the attacks. The medias doesn't claim loud that more than 1 million Israeli are living elsewhere/in bunkers out of fear.
If the UN can't help Israel make these missiles attack stop (and the kidnapping of their soldiers and killing of many other in the kidnap), then the UN should close it eyes and allows Israel to solve the problem the only way they can.
Canada is NOT going to send troops there or I am going to bitch and moan. Really, if the world can't help, it should not aggravate the situation. If the Hezbollah survive they will only become more thugish and aggravate everything in many other countries. The total destruction of the armed branch of the Hezbollah is a priority, no matter what it cost or take, if Israel is willing to meet that price, then the least we can do is encourage them, not try to limit them.
You see, Israel is listening to the UN, the Hezbollah don't give a damn and never respect the UN sanctions. Israel first duty is to ensure the security of it citizens. Attacking accross the border for YEARS from the Hezbollah wasn't really bright, I am just amazed at how long it took Israel to finally determine something must be done.

The bombing save Israelians soldiers lives. They are fighting an organisation that hide behind civilian and want nothing more than see many civilian casualties to show them on news.
I think Israel did a fair and good job, not that many casualties considering what must be done. Check how much casualties a land invasion of this type would have made without the bombing.
They have a duty to their citizens before than to Liban's civilians. If they can kill a terrorist but must kill 5 civilians, which in turn save the life of 1 of their soldier...than what must be done must be done.
There is only one way to deal with Hezbollah, it is to show them that hiding behind civilians won't grant them any benefit, and I hope Israel will hunt them with renewed ferocity when they know it is Hezbollah, for all the atrocities they commit and make the civilians in liban endure.
Also, the overall civilians opinion supporting Hezbollah might still not justify anything done against civilians, but it sure make it feel less painful.

I can see the value of the air raids on Israels part, but they were far to liberal with their targets. I see no reason to destroy civilian airfields and highways. The destruction of the airfield still baffles me because as far as I know, there were no aircraft able to pose any threat to the air raids and this only inhibited the escape of Lebonese(the ones who can afford air travel) but also any tourists and visitors. Hezballah(sp) needs to be destroyed, no doubt about it, but these air raids were out of line. At least four UN aid workers were killed during these atacks and many aid organizations were unable to provide aid to the civilians traped in the cities because Israel refused to work with them.
I like the 'take shit from NO ONE' attitude the Israelies so excellently portray. If a similar incident were to happen between Britain and France, you KNOW we'd be cowering in a corner waiting for 'diplomatic talks' to go through.
At the end of the day, Hiz Bollah bought this unto themselves. I am aware that what Hiz Bollah does, some Lebonese people don't necessarily agree with, but unfortunatly war doesn't work like that. If Hiz Bollah want to kidnap Israeli soldiers, they HAVE to live with the consequences of their actions, which in this case is civilian loss of lives on a huge scale. It's not Israel's fault, it's Hiz Bollah's fault that so many innocents are dead.

Hizbollah are not hiding behind civilians, they are civilians. The civilians that die standing next to them are their friends and families who live with them. Hiusbollah isn't a military force living and working in a military camp. It's a civilian militia defending their homes. The idea that Hisbollah are deliberatelyt trying to get their families killed for news footage is laughable. Please readjust your propaganda filters.
When the U.S. found out it could get it's own way again.
The U.N. is a diplomatic institution not a Mutual defense pact like NATO. It is a place for diplomatic representatives of the nations of the world to get together and make agreements. If the peoples of the world do not manage to agree on things this is no failing of the U.N. The U.N. simply provides a forum for them all to meet and discuss it. Instead of massive shuttle diplomacy the U.N. places them all in the same room at the same time. The incredibly slow process of diplomacy is much accelerated.
NATO is worthless. The Cold War is over. Last time a NATO pact country was invaded, none of the other nations showed up anyway. It does still provide a command and control structure for those participant nations who wish to fight together militarily however. But it's strategic and political importance has been negated.

If you think the casualities are comparatively heavy, they aren't.
For a reality check, the total amount of dead on both sides is equal to less than half the number killed in Baghdad alone last month.
Yes innocent civilians are dying, no, genocide is not occouring. If Israel wanted to just wipe out the population they could do a lot better than this.

That being said, unless you whipe those countries off the map the problem will never be solved.
If you gonna use violence you will have to wipe out every single human being. You will have slaughter men, women, children. And when you have done that you will have tons of enemies. You can't have enemies. So you will have to slaughter them too. Alot of work. Easy solution: Blow up this earth. Violence is not the key.
Funny, anyone remember how all this started? 2 israeli soldiers where abducted. Has anyone seen a worse way to free kidnapped people? If someone is abducted you use diplomatics first, and if you know their position you go in with force and free them. But you don't start bombing and shooting blindly without knowing where the f*ck these guys are held.

I hate the hardliners as they just seem to fuel the fire of war with hateful intentions and blind arogance and bolth sides are filled with hardliners. Israel though has been suffering terrorism but whats the reason for all the anger towards them? Palestine, Lebanon and other places has been treated very badly in the past years by Israel and I even think that Palestine had their land stolen by Israel which Israel says is theirs because God gave it to them? Its sad though because I assume the majority of Israelis are good people but the ones commiting the war crimes and killing civillians are just galvanizing the hate and increasing the numbers of terrorists that want to fire rockets and kill Israelis.
Israel is one of the most powerful militarys in the world and they handled this crisis very poorly so far and I really thought they would have done things alot differant seeing how they lived with this for years. Israel is in a tough spot and winning this battle is going to be next to impossible for them and every Lebanese civillian they kill or Palestinian I fear 3 more become militants. What I fear most is that Iran is slowly developing WMD's with help from Syria and N'Korea and in turn will use them on Israel forcing a huge conflict in which major world powers are forced to take sides.
I am not a Catholoic or Christian but the prophecy of Ezikiel or whatever his name is seems to be happening and I think he also said that Russia was going to be an enemy?

Everyone says that Hamas was doing good for the communities by building hospitals, schools, and residential areas for the people in Lebanon. Well, I heard on the news yesterday that they were building those community projects and deliberately putting them on top of weapon stockpiles and troop bunkers.

I think Israel is right but I think they tried to do to much with aerial and not enough with ground troops. From my understanding Hezballoah can move pretty quickly with hiding those rockets again so it seems a waste to bomb from the air destroying everything. Moving troops into Southern Lebanon shold have been done sooner. Also, I think many in Israel were surprised with how well armed Hezballoh is. If Syria and Iran would quit meddling Lebanon might make a great nation one day. As for claims of Genocide I doubt Israel would be dropping leaflets warning people in soon to be bombed areas to leave if genocide was their goal.
As for the violence overall in the Middle East involving Israel, nothign will really stop it until someone is completly eliminated. Israel won't go down without a fight and the extremists won't stop without a fight so either way someone has to be destroyed for lasting peace. I doubt peace will come from some UN resolution.
And for the UN, I applaud their humane aid efforts but I think overall they are a corrupt, ineffective bureacracy that really serves no purpose other than for people to say what they will do and then do it anyway resolution or not. How many sanctions. resolutions and protests against violence have been passed by the UN and done nothing. The only people who matter in the UN are those with power. Besides all the big, strong nations can do whatever they want. I consider the UN the same as the leage of nations only with the US added in.
Yet life will go on in the Middle East violence or not. One way to solve the conflict would be to no longer need any Mid East Oil. It would make things interesting to see what they would do with their cash stopped.
