Hiya guys, i'm trying to decide whether I should buy this game or not... Yah ive realized there are an aweful lot of these types of forums out there but i would like to know is it worth it 100%.
Is there almost endless things to do? Or once you wish to take a break leveling your stuck doing nothing?
B. Am i reallllllly gunah have to wait 8 freakin hours to get on a team?
and C. are there alot of plays in this game? if it takes 8 hours to get a team there must not be alot of players am i right?
Please hit me back, i HAD more questions but they were anserwed in the forums and so far im going to buy the game in a week id like to hear both sides of this discussion too.
P.S. What is a good "Easy" character to start as just to learn the ropes and maybe solo a little?

With friends even more things are available - duo/trio boss monsters, missions, and of course tons of quests.
B. No, 8 hours is really exaggerated. It CAN happen for some jobs but never before the 50's. Before lv50 most jobs can easily find a party in under and hour. Below the low 30's don't be surprised if you find a party within 10minutes of logging in. However, you must learn to use the Search comment function so party leaders will know important informations about you when they're searching. (e.g. your subjob availability, home point, how much exp til next level, all those can be important factors)
C. There are at least 2k+ on every server at any given time. You see, just *getting* a team of 6 people is very, very, easy. There are almost always at least that many people looking for party in your level range. However, the problem is that you need a fairly balanced party with at least a healer, a tank, and a good damage dealer/nuker. So when you only have like 5 WAR's, 3 THF's, and a lone SMN looking for parties it's usually difficult to get a working party out of those choices. So people like to wait until there's some other jobs available instead of making a gimp/unworkable party.
An easy character to start would be red mage or warrior or monk. Out of all those I would probably recommend monk first since it's arguably the best job to solo in the low levels. Warrior can get you the hang of the basic melee concepts such as maintaining hate very early, and can solo quite well. Red mage is another good soloer, and you get to learn about magic as well as melee.
For soloing, the ones you do NOT want to pick are ... well the other 3 starting jobs. Thieves, White mages, and Black mages are all horrible at soloing at low levels. Well BLM might do slightly better with Bind/nuke but mages are made of porcelain and can die easily, which can be very discouraging when you first start out. However, if you can ignore the relatively boring first 10 levels during which you will have to solo regardless of your job, then WHM and BLM will be excellent characters for learning the other fundamental aspects of the game (healing and dealing high damage)
Thieves tend to have trouble finding jobs throughout their pre-end game career, especially in the low levels due to their relatively low damage output and inability to tank, but they are quite useful in high level parties.

Its boring, but a lot of parties have Orgasams over a brd, since bard songs are extremely powerful. Its a support job, So it has little to no melee ability. Mostly a party job.
Also, white mages are always in need.
Well it all depends on what you want to do.
In the beginning when you start off, you have a choice of 6 jobs, Warrior, Monk, Thief, Black Mage, White Mage and Red Mage. Pretty much all of those jobs are useful and will always get party invites most of the time.
No race outdoes each other, they are all equal in their own ways.
Tarutaru are the best race for White Mage and Black Mage and maybe Red Mage because Tarutaru's get the most MP, Mind and Intelligence out of all the races on these 3 jobs.
Hume, Galka and Elvaan are the best race for melee jobs, as they have the most HP, Strength and Vitality, but Galka has the most HP and Defense.
Mithra are all around really, and Hume are all around a bit too. They are capable of doing any job well and there isnt a job they wont do well it.
But in the end, its your choice. Your have freedom, freedom of choice. You can choose what race you want and what job you want, you will still get party invites and you will still level up.
Choose what you want really.
