(poll) will you leave EQ2 for vanguard?

since it will resemble a true everquest sequel more than everquest 2

I voted no, simply because I don't know what Vanguard is like at all, aside from what I've read.  It would have to be a pretty special mmorpg, with some kind of outstanding community, for me to leave EQ2 for it.

I can't wait to try it out and see, but I am planning to remain active in EQ2.  I still have a great time playing.

I voted no.  Its really hard to say weather or not Vanguard SOH will be that great of a game untill you play it.  From what i have read, Vanguard SOH dose look very apealing to me, but i can not truly say weather or not ill leave EQ2 untill i play it.

Ya should have thrown a maybe in that poll =)

I voted No because if Vanguard turns out to be half as good as many people want to believe it is I will get it and use my Station Access account to play both.

I don't play EQ2 at the moment, but pretty soon I will be getting a station pass so I can play both EQ2 and SWG. When Vanguard comes out, I will leave EQ2 for it, but I could play all 3 since Vanguard will be on the station pass also.

    Voted no for 3 reasons:

    1. Might become a station access pass so as a current subscriber I can play both and VG is said to be hard core so I doubt it will be long before I am left too far behind
    2. Will have New EQ1 content at teh same time
    3. Will have new EQ2 content at the same time

Also I do not buy into hype

Already have the station pass, so the question is really, will I drop 49.99 for the box? Depends, really. If it's just EQ2.5, then prolly not. Given that even at my current slackass pace, I should have multiple 70's by the time V:SOH goes live, it better have some serious gameplay enhancements over what EQ2 brings to the table for me to consider starting over. Conversely, I may well be entirely bored with EQ2 by the time Vangaurd hits, so who knows. Though, the 'hardcore only' tack they seem to be taking is a turn off for me as well. Playing 10 hours was fine back in the day in EQ, but these days, I just don't have the interest to play at that level anymore. Could just be the ennui talking, though.

Frankly, the only upcoming mmos I'm interested in are Huxley, and WAR.

Uh..where has ANYONE that has to do with the game said its hardcore only? Obviously the only research you've ever done has been from people bashing Vanguard.

" Core " players are people who play 3-4 hours a day.

EverQuest 2 is just filling a void left wide open and bleeding after Shadows of Luclin came out for EQ1. Before that, I was still holding on to the dream of EverQuest 1 giving me that "feeling" it had the first time I tried to get through Lesser Faydark and encountered the Dark Elves, or tried cross the sand dunes in the Desert of Ro as a level 6 Wood Elf Bard, only to pop over the wrong dune and get horribly squashed by a Sand Giant. Nevertheless, it's filling the void quite well right now, and when it doesn't I switch to Planetside to blow shit up (Which is surprisingly looking more and more alive these days after it's fall from prime).

I'm very hopeful that Vanguard will fill that void once again. Introducing a completely new world with supposedly completely innovative features, a good deal of which are aimed at the "hardcore" likes-to-get-completely-absorbed-by-RPGs player like myself (They appear to be doing so in such a way as to cater to the general population of casual gamers as well). So far, it looks like the journey is more important than the destination in Vanguard, and the devs have already said that content will be geared to make level 1 to whatever just as exciting as the end-game, instead of just forcing players to get to the end to really "start playing."

Finally, death will mean something again and travelling won't be so gawd damn conveinant. You're going to get a much better community than the average current MMORPGs with just those two features in my opinion.

The dev team is probably the best of the best. These guys know what their doing, and despite having SOE handling the marketing and servers, I have faith that they won't make the same mistake in letting Sony control any part of the gameplay.

Besides, if all else fails, I can just log into Planetside and blow more stuff up until Battlefield 2142.

No because I have already left for Saga of Ryzom.

Kinda got sick of the Everquest-type games.

SoR is open ended and is a nice change of pace.

I wouldn't leave for Vanguard anyway, it doesn't intrest me at all.

I have the station access pass so I will probably try it out but from what I have read on the boards and seen from reviews I think it will be a little too hard core for me and I will most likely keep on playing EQ2, it will be nice to have the account active in both so I can hop back and forth between them depending on what kind of gaming experience I am wanting at the time.

Actually it won't so your whole premise for the question is invalid.  EQ2 is a very good sequel to EQ1, imo.  And yes, I played EQ1 from beta till shortly after LDON came out.

I'm on a station pass- so yes and no: I'll be playing VG, for sure- but will always have the ability to hop back to EQ2.

52 days to hit the cap in ONE section of advancement?

    no thanks.

I'd rather hit the cap and burn out in an MMO than feel like I'm not getting anywhere (assuming it's a boring grind, which I really think the developers are going for to achieve the classic EQ experience).

    Shame on you Sony.

OH, and you're sadly mistaken if you went into EQ2 expecting EQLive 2.0

This is really why I wish MMO's never got "sequals". If you can go into the game and take it for what it is (a next gen, non-oldschool EQ MMO), you'd be surprised how better the game seems. The only thing that translated over from Eq1-2 was the lore, races, and segments of the map.

I'll try it when it comes out, but pretty happy with EQ2 right now.  Maybe when I have finished with my first few characters.

I will most likely subscribe to the station pass when Vanguard comes out.

That is way too good of a deal to pass up imo.

I agree the term used by the dev team as "Core" players has nothing to do with the other term "Hardcore players". Of course Vangaurd is attracting what seems to me is only "Hardocre players" looking for sucessor to EQ1 with all it's many raids and grinds. I give Sigil 1 year before they cave in to the whinning of "Hardcore Players" and all you'll see is "Hardcore Content". Blizzard did it so why wouldn't Sigil do it ?

Games I've played/tried out:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online, GW2.
