I was just hiking in the woods the other day when it struck me. How come our characters never get tired? I mean I dont claim to be in great shape but just walking through the mountains for a couple of hours and I am tired. Yet our avatars can run around the world without the need to stop. I am not say this is a bad thing really, it would be tedious to have to stop every mile or so ingame to catch your breath. Yet the point I am trying to make is that if all of these game companys say that their game is realistic and authentic (well not so much realistic since you can call a bolt of lightning down to smite your enemies
but anyway) how come they ignore such basic realistic limits that bodies can go through. Maybe you elves can run for a long time, but I have yet to meet a single human who can run up and down mountains without faltering. Just once I would like to see my character trip over a rock and go tumbling down a hill. I think so many game companys focus on the actual grinding and quests and such (although some companys like to ignore everything XD) yet I think everyone would be benefited to step back to square one and not copy what worked for a different game.

I'm sure there are some mmorpg's out there that list "Stamina" as a skill/attribute. I suspect a flurry of examples from mmorpg.com members soon!
In response to energy levels;I've seen it in games before, for example Warcraft 3 custom mod Island tribes which is incidentally very popular. You have to maintain your food, energy and heat levels and to maintain your energy levels you have to sleep. I can see it definitely being part of a mmorpg, though its not really that major a gameplay change. Its just a nice effect to add to the game and whether a mmorpg would want to add it.
But yeah agree I'd like to see a mmorpg more 'rpg' based rather than grind-based as well.
Now it's only in some single-player rpg's.

Irth and RF Online only allow you to run for an amount of time before having to walk or rest.

Nuh, I don't think they forced you. If you fed your char though, you'd do more damage or some such.
Then again, it's been a very long time since I played UO, so I might be mistaken.
