Considering a reactivation.

Hey guys!  I am an "old school" daoc player that was around pre-toa.   My MMO friend and I are considering playing daoc again but I have a couple of questions!   First of all, I loved the game - daoc is probably my favorite mmo to date, however, two things bothered me enough to make me cancel:

1) Buffbots.   I don't mind two boxers at all, but I didnt like these buffers sitting in keeps (unkillable) while the player stealthed around owning everybody up.  Has this changed at all?   When I left there was talk about putting a range limit on the buffs, did this ever happen?  Also, if buffbots are still going strong - will I need one to compete in pvp, or has mythic implimented a few features to balance botters?

2) ToA.   Although I never played it my friend and guild suggested it was a horrible grind yet required to be competitive.  My question here is how much has this changed?  Will I be required to grind for months to compete in pvp?

Thanks!

Play on a classic server and neither of those will bother you.  Plus, the classic servers are the most populated.

    1) The classic servers put a serious limit on buffbots. I don't play on one of the classic servers but from what I understand, any "buffbot" has to be in your group and within a certain range. It's either 1500 or 3000 units, I forget.  In other words, someone has to actually be playing the "buffbot", they can't just be parked in some keep somewhere.

    2) The classic servers have no ToA.

Actually the range is 5000 units, but as you pointed out.. the buffer has to be in the group. You'll still find buffbots on the classic servers: for PvE levelling and some 'I-cant-stand-it-if-I-loose' players that solo with their bot stuck to their asses.

The thing about the battlegrounds where people have a buffbot inside the keep, also happens on classic.. albeit less often. As long as the buffbot owner stays around the keep, he'll be within range of his bot to receive the effect of the buffs.. and the DI (healing pool) will also work.
Ofcourse after a while you know who has one so you know what to do when such player attacks... just move away from the keep.. either they follow and fight on even ground.. or they run away, afraid to loose a fight.
