hi, i would love if any of the staff members could tell me what the categories to rate a game mean.
for example, graphics. is it beauty, style or technology? or everything togheter?
same with sound. for example, EVE music and sounds are wonderful, i would rate them with a 9 or 10, but they mess up ingame performance a lot, so much that entering a deadspace mission with sound on might freeze the client for more than 10 or 20 seconds. so, do you take performance into account or only pure sound quality and style?
now, one category i have always missed is something to rate for a game's complexity or depth. for example, if we were to review championship manager, we could not say it is a fun game, in the sense we usually use the word "fun", yet it's got something going on for it much more better than fun. it is complex, deep, huge, endless, open ended... on the other hand, if we review Sensible Soccer we should say it is an incredibly fun game, yet shallow and simple. so how do you guys rate all this qualities like complexity, player options to alter the game world, open endness (is that a word?), depth, etc.?
