Can't log in, can anyone help?

I'm posting this here because non-paying members can't post on the official boards for some reason.
I've recently downloaded the game so I can start playing again. I try to log in, but as soon as the game launches it crashes and reloads the launcher, telling me I have been disconnected.
Could anyone tell me what is wrong? I want to start playing again after I quit a few months ago, but I can't... any help would be appreciated.

Perhaps the server is currently offline, for maintainence or something?
It would have said it was offline
