What does that have to do with anything mentioned in this thread ?

It is masterful of Blizzard to change their endgame so that more than raiders may enjoy it while still keeping those raiders happy by adding new features for them.  Bravo Blizzard!

  • my god, I can't wait to try the new PVP system. I will get it for sure, am a big fan of all Warcraft games.

Heh, you think it was to reduce the instance lag?  For some reason that would be extremely hilarious to me if true.

It really shouldn't affect lag, the only thing that will affect lag is that there are more instances and thus less being run.  Because smaller raids just means more raids going into the instance.

This will make WoW what it's supposed to be. Small raids just like EQ2, BETTER pvp system than EQ2. The scaling instances basically every 5man instance you use lvling worth going back to at 70 since the entire loot tables can be replaced with lvl 70 items on a hard difficulty, unlimited lvl 70 5mans. The arena pvp sounds great as well and I love the idea of using honor as a type of currency, no rank decay will be amazing, Guild Wars, anyone? I hear people complaining about how this system won't be good for casuals, thats complete bullshit. The casuals complaining about these changes literally want everything handed to them, and I supported casuals, cause i'm one of them, and I can't find one single thing wrong with anything they've announced for the expansion so far.

    The article from Gamespot.

um, probably the things that were listed in the above posts?   imageplayer housing.  guild housing.  player controlled/owned boats.  player controlled/owned flying vehicles.  actual objectives to conquer and hold (pvp) to get buffs in the zone for your faction.  maybe a big outdoor AV that is just constantly going on/respawning?

some of the things you mentioned are obviously being implemented to a certain degree, weather or not it is good enough depends on you and your expectations.

Last but by no stretch least, world PvP is being worked into Burning Crusade in a very big way. Each of the seven new zones will have a persistent PvP objective designed into it. Think of it as an extension of what's being introduced in patch 1.12, only on a much larger scale. One example is a new zone called Nagrand. Smack in the center of it is a neutral town that can be captured by either faction. Whoever holds it will have access to a whole mess of amenities, including active quest givers, NPCs who accept turn-ins acquired from the zone's monsters, vendors, trainers and the like. The opposing faction, naturally, is locked out of all this, which is precisely why they will be laying siege to it around the clock. If you get enough of your people near the flag at the town center, you'll slowly start to win control. Problem is, opposing players and NPCs will be constantly wailing on you.

The PvP objective in Terokkar (the harsh, desolate zone that houses the Auchindoun instance) sounds a bit similar to what 1.12 will bring to the Eastern Plaguelands. There will be various points of interest scattered around the zone, and the faction that captures all of them will benefit from a zone-wide buff that lasts for about two days. It won't be possible to wrest control from the faction once the points are captured; instead, you'll have to wait until it resets before giving it another go. What's the nature of the buff? Chilton wouldn't say exactly, but he said that it would be something beneficial to players who are leveling in the area -- think bonuses to experience and rep.http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/world-of-warcraft-expansion/725327p3.html

i will say that it is kind of BS that the pvp rewards are not on par with raid loot, i mean at least have some rewards that are extremely hard to get be attainable through pvp.

is this expansion fixing all the problems wow has? no, but it sure as hell improving it IMO.

Read on a little more, you'll find that there are PvP rewards that are on par with raid loot, however, they are not accessible through the standard "honor points" system.  They are available for the hard-core PvP players through the arena system.

thanks, i stand corrected....this expansion is going to kick major ass IMVHO ::::40::

Depending on how it performs in battle, a team will be assigned a rating, which changes after the results of all its battles are tallied each week. This team rating will determine its place on the overall ladder, and it affects what opponent it's matched with when it queues up for battle. Depending on how a team performs during a given week, its members will receive points which, similar to the honor system, they can use to buy loot. As mentioned, the Arena gear will be up there with the best of the best, so rest assured, this is where the serious PvPers will be spending their time. Chilton said that the whole system will revolve around three-month seasons, which implies that there will be some sort of periodic championship

I read all the recent articles on the expansion and I thought that some of them were great ideas, but they seemed to be borrowed from other MMOs. I don't like the difficulty level in the new dungeons, sounds too much like DDO. 25 mans are much better than 40 mans. The PvP in the outlands sounds interesting. Gem crafting is just ported from Diablo II. So yes, the expansion adds quite a bit of content.

What would have been better is if they would have added Hero classes and seige wepons in BGs like they promised early last year. Still they seemed to have added just enough to please everyone, but yet not enough to make everyone happy and stop complaining either.

The expansion won't make me renew my account I just canceled. I still find WoW to be too repeative, I get deja vu everything I go to a new dungeon or do a new quest.

I'm confused, how are you judging difficulty?

everquest also borrowed the "socketing" idea from d2 and its not the first thing blizzard has brought in from one of their other games, but i don't see this as a negative....wow has borrowed alot of stuff from other games, i don't really see the point here.

and I'm not sure what you mean by "the difficulty level" in the dungeons, do you mean that you don't like how you can return to a dungeon at level 70 and set it to "elite" difficulty?

you are right though, the expansion wont make everyone happy...people will always find something to whine about.

and while i feel your pain about the hero classes and siege weapons....i find it really hard to think of much els to complain about this expansion.

i think this expansion is addressing 90% of what is wrong with wow today, this coming from someone who has quit the game twice because of game mechanics that are being fixed with this expansion.

if you refuse to play it that is fine, but i will be honest...it does seem like you are nit picking and trying to find whatever negative aspect of this expansion there is, when clearly there isn't a whole lot.

sure that would be great if they implemented siege weapons and hero classes, but other than that what els is there to really complain about?

again, theres never going to be a day where any mmorpg will have "enough to make everyone happy and stop complaining" people will always complain, no matter how good your game is.

I meant returning to dungeons after you have completed them, when you are higher level and making them to fit your advanced level.

Yes, I'm nitpicking. This expansion does add a considerable amount of content. I just don't think that it is adding anything that innovative or new. I felt excitment everytime I read their coming soon section on the main webpage during the first year.

If you look back at what was added since release until now, they have added alot of content. (BGs, PvP ranking/rewards, DM, BWL, ZG, AQ, NAXX, World Dragons, Silithus quests, EPL Quests, tier 0.5 armor, tier 2 armor, tier 3 armor, multiple AHs, new factions/quests/rewards, class talent revamps, I can't remember what else).

Personally I'm not really excited about socketed items or outside pvp.  I didn't really like socketing in Diablo, I just wanted to get the best crap and go.  I hope this doesn't mean that there will still not be enough items in the game and the way they will make them different by this new socketing idea.  I think players want an armor piece that is badass that nobody has.  That was what was cool with the original EQ, was being completely different, but still very powerful.  I'm hoping 3 guys standing in front of the bank don't have the same super sword with different gems in em, that would be lame.

One article did talk about Shamans getting bloodlust at level 70, which means each class I'm sure is going to get some really cool spells and/or new talent pools.  Hopefully the new trees will further diversify classes from their current states.
