Concerned over Chaos popularity

Hi,

I'm not sure if I'm the only one but I have a growing concern that Chaos will become too popular and therefore inbalance the game.

After reading a number of threads and posts on this forum, which I have been following for a while, including the large 'race poll' that was conducted it's become apparent that chaos is dwarfing the other races (except greenskins).

Now im not sure if this is correct on the whole, as im only going off this community, but I was wondering if other forums/communities seemed the same, and if perhaps any other large or official polls have been conducted.

As it stands I myself am keen on playing Chaos, as its the only race that truly appeals to me, unless they can make Dark Elf look just as badass.

Im just praying that the game doesnt become inbalanced, as I've personally seen the effects of faction inbalance in WoW. I just wonder how the devs will combat Chaos popularity.

Someone please prove me wrong.

PS: Lizardmen are ftw.

I shouldn't worry too much - before WoW came out it looked like everyone was going to be horde because the undead looked cool.

I think there are alot of people who will change their choice so that they have more of a challenge.

Whats the problem with the dark elves.... there class's or what they look like?

Cause if its looks then I have to wonder what Dark Elf pictures youve been looking at. You ever see L2 dark elves? Most of the dark elf pics Ive seen have been awesome.

and what do chaos look like....

I would not be worried about too much. Only eight classes have been listed and of those, we have been give a description of only two. I think as we learn more about the races and classes they have available there will be some shift in which race will be more popular. Also if all classes turn out to have thier own distinctive playstyle then I can see players have mutliple characaters in different races. Lastly just b/c players say Chaos now doest mean they wont end up choosing Empire at launch.

I may be totally wrong, but it was my understanding that the alliance in WoW was the dominant faction.

I don't really think people have anything to worry about. Things will be alright.

What would be nice, though, is some sort of "race counter" that would allow people to know exactly what the numbers of each race/side is. If there's more greenskins/dark elves/chaos, maybe people creating new characters would choose to create a dwarf/elf/empire character and vice versa.

Well WAR's a little different because there isn't really a "Good guy" so I think it'll all even out. And if people think like me, the only thing better than playing as chaos is killing chaos.

But yeah, Chaos is badass. And the Dark Elves in this game aren't going to look anything like L2 dark elves. The only thing that makes these Dark Elves dark is their hair and their evil ways. They have the same color skin as high elves. No Drow in this game. lol

I'm not to worried about the chaos population, more of them to slay.You also have to take into account that not every gamer joins a forum. So the best you can do is pray. I'm certain humans will come out on top, for some reason people love playing humans.

Shaman is right... more of them to slay. i'll be playing a dwarf so if the human city falls under attack, i will come and aid them.

I'd say that the population is relative, I've seen many people saying they will go Chaos, but that is such a tiny percentage of the future player base, that it just doesn't cut it as a prevision.
Besides, there will be Dogs of War in WAR, so even if there are 10 times more chaos than anything else, the npcs will balance it.

well ive notfully decided on what to go yet, but will probably be the dwarves or greenskins, although i'll wait till theres more info on all races before i make my decision. Also this is something im sure mythic will monitor duringbeta and will see if any problems occur because of it, then if they feel the need they will take action also many people change race all the time at first when playing so im sure it wont be that huge a problem people are probably just picking chaos right now because they think they look cool but many will change their mind when more info is released on all races i think.

No doubt it will balance itself out over time. And people are always bound to change their original choices.

Hell, when the Chaos information is released on the Armies of War page, you might already begin to see future players changing their minds about joining the Chaos.

No one will truly be able to make a finalized decision until they can get in and play out each race, which is what I'm sure most players will do during beta.

We all can't be certain, people will undouptly change thier mind has more info on the races and classes come out. So far the most interesting class looks like the runepriest. It sounds interesting.

Woah... You actually thought that horde would of been the most popular faction in the beginning? I'm sorry, but it comes as a surprise to see something like that.

As for chaos. I always loved them so no matter what I'm being chaos...

Good races are always the most populated.

These forums, as well as other WAR forums, are part of the "vocal minority". The majority of players who play an MMO never post on forums, and will often always go for the "good" races.

Chaos will be popular, but not as much as humans and elves I think. Ofcourse, I'm just going by what I've seen in previous MMOs. We'll see... if anything, it might end up the most populated on the Destruction side.

dogs of awar will onbly be in scenarios...which are instanced, skermishes and campaign will have no Dogs of War...

one thing Mythic did with dark age is give the underdogs extra XP and money per kill as an incentive to play the underdogs. maybe they will do something similiar, maybe not.

I can't wait for the chaos classes... I think I'm going to go with a melee set class as my frist. (Which is actually a first for me. Since I always go for casters first)
