You have two options in playin eq1 or eq2 where it isnt dead.
Eq1 play on progression servers, newbie areas still alive and well with a large population.
Eq2 play Antonia bayle server, everyone will be twinks but its more alive at the low end.
Eq2 play Antonia bayle server, everyone will be twinks but its more alive at the low end.
There are ~10 servers more populated then AB. AB is supposed to be a RP server, IMO it's discourteous to play there if you have zero intention of roleplaying.

Crafting isn't a group sport fella. I don't like to be FORCED to depend on someone else to make my inks and paper just so I can make scrolls.
If you WANT to depend on others for your crafting you still can, have someone else harvest your items and buy them. You can still do that if you want and goes back to my original point. EQ2 allows for solo and group play.
So, tell me who is the tool here? I know you hate SoE and EQ2 but really you don't have a leg to stand on here bub.

When you make a character, when you create the name, there is a list of servers and the load on those servers. During peak almost all are red (heavy load). You could look at those same servers during an off peak hour and see which are heavy load and that might help you make the decision.
If you are looking to always have a group I'd recommend playing in the "priest" archtype. Fury for DPS/Healing, defiler for wards and the best debuffs, templar is probably the most "pure" healer.
If you play with a friend have one be a fury and the other more of a shaman or templar. You two should always be able to find a group
Most people that complain about population play very common classes like scouts (assassins and rangers are a dime a dozen) or mages. Groups tend to get created AROUND the healers and a tank. After that they can take any DPS.

I just tried EQ2 about 2 days ago. I was actually quite impressed. I loved the character creation engine and find the graphics to be very good. I played EQ for a very long time, but never bothered to try EQ2, as I found sony butchered the first one - I figured that the 2nd would be total garbage, but I found it not to be too bad. I enjoyed it for the short time I played it. I dunno if I will ever purchase the game or not (I tried it on my brothers computer) and am not sure whether or not it will become as repetitve as EQ became, but for the short time I did play it I found it enjoyable.

you know very little actually. I dont hate eq2 or sony, i dislike people lieing about a product for what ever reasons they have. If your making money off being a suck*** that is fine, if you do it becuase you like sucking **** thats fine, but do not push off false statements to people when you obviously dont know what your talking about. Sorry to get so " relentless " but it looks fun when you do it to others when they disagree with you.

Quoted from one of your previous posts. “Unlike this guy, i would not suggest playing eq2 and ill go into depth on the reasons why as soon as i get some info released from soe that i requested. “
You come here and tell people not to play EQ2 and support that opinion with insults, insinuations and incorrect information, then complain that anyone who shoots down your posts must be a fanboi. Then, you go on and try to argue that you don’t hate either EQ2 or SOE. Under these circumstances I think it’s safe for us to assume you are not being entire honest in your attempts to push your opinions.
Thus far, every one of your posts thus far has been classic fanboi trolling. If you do not want to be classified as a fanboi troll you need to improve the quality of your posts. Insulting people and insinuation tinfoil hat conspiracy theories is going to make your posts less credible then they already are, if that is even possible.
Yes and No. Alot of the changes to EQ2 have been great. It's still mainly a group based game though for most part, and there lies the problem. Depending on how populated your server is. Finding a group to do certain things can be a hassle or near impossible. Getting from 1 to 20 can be very slow on low population servers. Then when you do hit 20 doing the Armor quest can would be impossible without a group.
Solution to that is to find a guild, but when you are new to the game do you really want to join a guild. Then expect them to drop what they are doing to help you each and everyday. So while I would say buy EQ2 I would also warn anyone interested to play on one of the pvp servers or AB (at they are the most populated).
In War - Victory. In Peace - Vigilance. In Death - Sacrifice.
Holy crap i didn't want to start a series of flame posts, but thanks to those of you who gave me your usefull semi-unbiased info, i went out n bought eq2 with the expansion.

That statement is not becuase of the game or SOE, its about the people who are hell bent on turning the game into eq1's grind fest or making at worse game to just prove they are right. These same people are, i repeat, are making money of the eq2 franchise with websites and what not. These same people use thier ties with SOE to shut down competing websites that had better information databases. Some other people doing the same thing are allowed to be extremely rude to EQ2 customers in the forums with real concerns because these people are veiwed as " loyal fans".
Wait you said SOE shut it down !!!! Yes I did, they were handed some form of documented info basically after an illegal arrangement was made to obtain it. They probally didn't know or care how it was obtained but acted upon it per their rules and guidlines.

What information have i given that is incorrect? In truth you give the same info but sugar coat it till its dripping wet to give a different tone and try to change the perspective. This is not a nice thing to do to people. Yes there are people in eq2, yes there are some totally estactic about it and there are some that are not. Game launches and what a year later they merge servers? Took eq1 what 5 years before they had to merge servers?

EQ2 is definately worth getting. I played a few months at start up and got a bit frustrated trying to level because it was tough for solo players, so I stopped for awhile. I just signed back on a couple months ago and I must say the game is much better in every aspect compared to it's launch condition. The game has definately matured and greatly improved and I'm having fun playing it again. There is more solo content than ever, while not sacrificing anything for groupers. I'm sure there's a long list of changes and improvements, but I don't need to list them all here. Just play the trial of the isle and sign up. It's by far the best mmo available currently. Tons of content in an enormous world, mature crowd/community, and there's always people looking to group. I play on Najena server and I'm quite happy with it.
