Factions, never tried it, but I know and heard it's better, but not to much better their both good, I have the first one and it's pretty cool, but you know the only MMO part is in towns and things, if you go outside by yourself it will only be you, so you have to make partys in a town, don't know if you knew that already but there you go, Factions is a little better.

Yeah, go with Factions. Gets you to the cap quicker so you can start concentrating on learning your class in PVE and PVP.

    prophecies or factions hummm
    tough choice.
well i personnaly didnt like the oriental style that they put on factions but gameplay is alot beter in factions.
prophecies i would recomend more for PVE/item hunting money making.
    im a fan of both
so i would recomend both at the same time to get the best of both worlds

Buy Guild Wars first. It offers more areas and more classes than Guild Wars Factions, plus it is cheaper, so if you don't like the game you only waste $39 instead of $49. Play Guild Wars for a few months...until you've learned to PvP with a team and if you still like it, buy Factions.

Yeah you did, you missed that the first hours are gay as a fitness trainer, it don't get fun really untill after the pre post thing.

What I meant was the part about how Prophecies offers more classes than Factions, as far as I can tell its the other way around. I own both, and I love the Prophecies campaign, but if I do pre-searing one more time I'm going to have a seisure.

i think he means that in prophecies you have monk ranger warior necro mesmer mage (hope im not forgeting any... lol) and in factions you only get 2  assasin and ritualist

by the way, in factions you can take all original classes plus the 2 new ones instead of only the originals
so technically faction has more classes (2) and night fall will have even more (2 more) plus probably 2 new slots (not sure on that last coment)

I thought factions was an expansion, I guess I'm not as informed as previously thought.

It is, BUT you don't need the first one to play it, so it kinda is and it kinda isn't.

So you can buy Factions without buying Prophesies and still get to play all the classes (ie. Monk, Ranger, Warrior etc.) plus the two new classes? I could have sworn this wasn't the case.

Guild Wars Factions is better than origanal Guild Wars. Guild Wars Nights is coming out in the next few months. I think it might even be better than them both.

I don't think he was actually going for a flame there. If anything he was flaming the pre-searing portion of the GW: Prophecies game, it was just worded precariously.

    Simple:

Prophecies has 6 classes to choose from (the core classes)
Factions has 8 classes to choose from (the core plus Assassin and Ritualist)

the next chapter (Nightfall) will also have 8 classes to choose from. (the core plus Dervish and Paragon)

EDIT (to actually answer the OP): Prophecies is a much better game to get for a beginner. It has a more evenly paced storyline and if you like the buildup of your character (rather than maxlvling quickly) then it will be more suited. Factions is much faster to level (max in 6 or 7 hours for an experienced player) but then most of the "real" content is AFTER max level is reached in Factions, and is therefore alot more challenging and interesting for an experienced player.

Yeah dude I don't flame, much, and that wasn't a flame, I was puting what he missed, that the pre searing thing is lame, so settle down man

    Doesn't "factions" include the original?

I swear I read that somewhere.
