im looking to embark on playing a new game.

but im just so confused with all these new ones being released.

i enjoyed final fantasy XI alot.(please dont flame me for my past games i enjoyed)

that is as far as my past with mmorpg's stretches. So im not sure if every game has a standard area where everything is sold on. ex.auction house in  FF XI.

i like being able to choose from a wide arange of classes/jobs.

A game that requires strategy to defeat the enemy.

thats pretty much all i care  about in a game.

any new releases that you guys think i would enjoy. Or any new ones that seem promising.

Thanks alot for all your time guys.

   is really appreciated.

If you can hold off for a year or so, Warhammer Online is going to be the best thing online since porno.

If you need a fix for now, I recommend Ultima Online.  The graphics are dated, but the gameplay is second to none.

Play EVE-online til Warhammer comes out!! Then play both! :-D

Ill probably drop my EVE 2-box for Warhammer, but plan to do both! If you like strategy, tactics and truly enjoy pvp, then EVE is for you!! Visit www.EVE-online.com or try the trial that pops up here!

I haven't played it myself, but if you like strategy to defeat your oponent, you should give RomaVictor a try, and then when Warhammer Online comes out, try that as well.

i just looked at warhammer and it seems pretty sick.

Well, one thing we all agree on is WAR (Warhammer Online) is gonna be THE game when it comes out.

Check out this trailer if you haven't seen it yet.

What aspect of FFXI did you like? That should give us a better idea of what to suggest.

P.S. I dunno about Warhammer Online...I've seen some gameplay video and it looks like World of Warcraft/Dark Age of Camelot with a new skin...but I reserve my final judgement until I get to play the game myself.

Ranma13...first off, thank you for not flaming.  Your message comes across much better that way, but I still feel the need to point out a few things.  Warcraft was made AFTER Warhammer, not the other way around like so many think.  The graphics already in WAR are superior to WOW and they are still in pre-alpha.  I do agree that the game is similar to DAoC, but it's from the same developers, what would you expect.  As for the RvR (PvP) aspect, I think that it's the closest any mmorpg has come to a perfect scenerio for both the PvP and PvE crowds.

Darkfall. Just don't let the 'lack' of release date concern you,it could be the next big thing.

As for WAR; well my judgement is that it'll be similiar to DaoC,which I never played, but the RvR sounds good and it has optional PvP/PvE areas so I guess everyone can be happy. It'll certainly draw in the 'WOW' crowd on beta/release.

    wow awesome trailer.

i liked tons of things about FFXI.

Easy respawning. The need to work together. Having to get raises(to resurect)

being able to hang around one day and stay away from action.

to craft without being in danger.

easy job changing access. combinations of jobs(making you unique)

    easy controls. auction house.

    thats mostly it.

    thanks alot guys.

as i said before i totally appreciate all your time.

and thanks for not flaming me, i know others dislike some games. respect the fact that noone has said anything like that.

god dam I get sick of hearing this sentance....**Warcraft was made AFTER Warhammer** blah blah blah we are all aware of this fact....we do not think otherwise but in the MMO world WOW was made first and thats what we are on about we do not want another WoW clone in any way.

You just ADMIT that WOW came after Warhammer, but yet you say WOW clone.  Don't you realize the character models, gaming world, and basic structure/lore is all from Warhammer?  Hence, it is NOT a WOW clone.  Even besides that, WAR has a darker feel to the world/characters, the PvP is MUCH better, and it's going to be a SKILL based game.  How anyone gets WOW clone out of that is beyond me.  If anything, WAR is going to be similar to DAoC, which is a very good thing.

I didn't admit anything I KNOW that warhammer came long before the warcraft series. But this is mmorpg.com and in the MMO world like I said WoW was before WAR true fact. I said we don't want another WoW clone I didn't say WAR is a WoW clone how about you actually read my post with a little thought instead of taking offense and jumping the gun. The game isn't out yet so we can't truly judge it.

It does have an bit to do with it, actually.
Wha.. What did i say? Yes, you heard me.
    It's called artwork.
WAR stays true to it's own artwork(Which have.. What? 20? 30years behind it?).
The whole warcraft univers stole quite alot from Warhammers artwork.
Hence, they make look a bit similar, but WoW will be the copy-dog.

       Ok, lets try is again...

I say (before you showed up in the thread),

Ranma13...first off, thank you for not flaming.  Your message comes across much better that way, but I still feel the need to point out a few things.  Warcraft was made AFTER Warhammer, not the other way around like so many think.  The graphics already in WAR are superior to WOW and they are still in pre-alpha.  I do agree that the game is similar to DAoC, but it's from the same developers, what would you expect.  As for the RvR (PvP) aspect, I think that it's the closest any mmorpg has come to a perfect scenerio for both the PvP and PvE crowds.

Then, in your first post on this thread you say,

god dam I get sick of hearing this sentance....**Warcraft was made AFTER Warhammer** blah blah blah we are all aware of this fact....we do not think otherwise but in the MMO world WOW was made first and thats what we are on about we do not want another WoW clone in any way.

And WoW is a watered down EQ1 clone. Really people need to STFU with WAR is a WoW clone or this MMORPG is a clone of that MMORPG crap. WoW didn't event the freaking genre and neither did it come up with revolutionary ideas. Blizzard devs took old ideas and refined them. This is evolutionary in game design not revolutionary. WAR will play and have aspects of DAOC, and a host of other MMORPG's out there with the lessons learned along with some new ideas. It will also have a graphical style and characters akin to the WAR universe and if they look WoWish to you then it's because of how WoW had previously borrowed IP from WAR.

Games I've played/tried out:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online, GW2.

    Game(s) I Am Currently Playing:

    GW2 (+LoL and BF3)

Important to remember that when Blizzard started the Warcraft series they borrowed heavily from the graphics designs of the WARHAMMER titles.  Since WoW is true to Warcraft it's graphics resemble that.  And because WAR is using Warhammer graphics the two will look similar, graphically since they're both based on the same origin source graphics:  Warhammer.

But Warhammer will play nothing like WoW... it's going to be skill based, not level, it's going to involve RVR combat, not arenas, it's going to have player housing, guild housing, detailed crafting, etc.  (Like DAOC).

Think of WAR as DAOC version 3.0, not a WoW clone.  Because it's going to be nothing like WoW.  No matter how you slice it.

Currently Playing: Dungeons and Dragons Online.

I know about the influences of Warhammer on Blizzard's games, but that doesn't mean Blizzard doesn't have original ideas of their own.

Frankly, I'm a bit dubious about a skill-based game. All traditional MMORPGs I've played were all about equipment and levels; sure, knowing how to use your skills effectively does play a part into it, but usually people have a pretty good idea of how to use their skills and it boils down to equipment and levels. Even in games like EVE Online, the bulk of the 'skill' is when outfitting your ship.

All I can say for now is that, in the few gameplay videos of Warhammer that are circling around, it looks like any other MMORPG in that your character stands in front of a mob and the two trade blows back and forth. Hard to make an accurate evaluation of the game based on just that.
