Sylvia Brown makes a huge mistake (she's a phony psychic). Watch the reactions from sylvia and the lady, they're priceless.

She is a big fraud.  I have a problem with psychics.  I love paranormal stuff, like ghosts, EVP's and all that stuff, but I have never seen a psychic that I thought was legitimate.

Well, except for that lady that comes on SciFi Channel.  I can't remember her name though.  It sounds french I think.  It's like Chantel or something.  Dangit, I can't remember.

    **Edit**

I found her name.  It's Char.  I don't know where I got Chantel from.  LOL

I'm pretty sure there are real psychics. I've seen pyschics convince very skeptical police detectives by solving their cases, or giving enough information to solve it.

Oh please. Im sorry but I just dont belive in any of that. I saw a documentary on Discovery that went to great detail on the matter and it all was negative.

Penn & Tellers series "Bullshit" also took on the topic, and also proved it false. And even showed how they set up people in thinking its real with placed actors at gatherings etc. Was interesting cuz they also looked at the religious healing stuff too, which naturally was fake as well.

Its just a scam to get ppls money. Like religion is now. lol

It's like the UK's Darren Brown, you can convince anyone to do anything with subliminal messages and you can guess whats on their mind by their actions.

Shes a fraud. If there really is people out there that know everybody else better than themselves then I think they should be arrested for mass invasion of privacy. Sounds stupid I know but its just what I think, I dont want some "phsychic" digging around in my thoughts, my familys thoughts, and our lifes whenever he/she pleases.

There are psychics out there who refuse to take money and try to remain anonymous as to not draw attention to themselves. These are the only people I would think of as real psychics.

I think that 96% of the psychics you see on tv shows or advertising their phone numbers trying to make money off of it are fakers.

Anyone who could read body language, pick up on verbal clues and facial expressions, ask general questions and is very crafty could be a psychic.

Years ago, I remember always seeing Miss Cleo advertise her services on TV. Then she fled the country and is wanted by the FBI a few years later. No idea if she was ever caught. TV Psychics and any psychic that asks for good chunk of money are 100% fakes.

Wasn't there a guy who used to go around and offer a 1 million dollar challenge for someone to prove they were real and he managed to prove all he tested as frauds?

People are more believeable if they do not ask for $ or are involved in politics or have big connections.

That's all the reason I needed to check it out.

And yeah, very cool vids, thanks for sharing. I checked out that phycic tutorial one...wow! One thing I really want to point out is what she called fear- "the four letter f word" False Evidence Appearing Real. - what a good way of putting it.

Kinda reminds me of my ABC's.

Antecedent Event (like losing a dog)
    Beleifs (dog is dead)
    Emotional Conesecuences (anger, depression etc)

the trick is to realize that you cannot make any assumptions withought any evidence to support them.

    She's cool, huh?

The first time I saw her I thought she was starting to do the same things other psychics do.  Because she started that whole, "is there a member of your family with an E letter".  But after that she just blows you away.  She comes up with the persons name 95% of the time at least.  And I'm sorry, but just giving someone the first letter of a family members name is not going to lead them into telling you that persons name with just that hint.  Especially names like Max.  How many people do you know named Max?

I wonder though about one thing.  I've thought that maybe she might be picking up thoughts from the person instead of talking to the dead.  Like, maybe she thinks she is talking to their deceased relatives, but she's really just reading their minds or something.

The show is cool too.  I hope they put some more episodes on SciFi Channel.  Because whatever she's doing it's weird.

It works just takes a bit of time. Also it looked like it came up in Quicktime instead of windows media.

But yeah I saw that on tv and laughed my ass off. According to (i think, not positive) Dante's inferno she will be condemed to walk for eternity with her head on backwards for claiming she is a pshyc.

For shizzle ma nizzle! When she talked about being aware of her thoughts and recognizing certain thoughts as being given to her instead of being her own- THAT is cool :)

Sometimes when I take the bus home, I get these crazy thoughts about death and stuff, but when I get off they go away, and they aren't there before I get on the bus. Hearing what she said there kinda makes me think...

Story time! (This is pretty much arbritary to everything posted above)

This morning I was really pushing my time limit before catching the bus. 5 minutes before walking out the door I was rushing my lunch together and spilled my rice onto a platter of cupcakes and some of it got stuck on the icing on one of treats. Just then I was like "Why God, just why?" So I cleaned it up and ran out the door.

On the bus ride home I thought "I hope they saved a cupcake for me, but there was hardly any left so they probobally ate them all." When I came home and opened the microwave, there was the single cupcake left with rice on it - Immediatly I made the connection that everything happens for a reason.

    /end story

    He was a FIREMAN!!

    Of course he drowned...

Geez what the hell is wrong with people that makes perfect sense. He would have also been within a few miles of New York Harbour so that basically explains it. Have some faith people...

    /sarcasm off

There are several international skeptic organisations that have offered large amounts of money over the last 20 years for someone to complete some basic tests like saying what a face down playing card is etc etc.

    http://skepdic.com/randi.html

Thats a list of most of em...

So far no one has ever claimed the cash which only leaves 2 conclusions....

    1. Its BS
    2. Pschycics dont need the money

I guess if you know what the lotto numbers are gonna be then you wouldnt need to waste your time doing tests right ?

Actually, I don't even by the "they don't need the money argument" either.  If they don't need it then why don't they just give it to a charity?  Not to mention proving that such an ability was real under controled conditions would change much of human knowledge and be a powerful force for good.  Randi has offered $1,000,000 for a long time and has tested thousands of people from around the world since at least the 70's, not one has ever passed the preliminaries.  Being a professional magician Randi knows the tricks for those who are frauds, and the ones that are just self-deluded will always agree to a fair test.

His usuall procedure is something like...
    1. Subject clearly states the aleged supernatual ability, what it does, what they need for it to work, what can interfere with it (ther usually isn't), and how effective it is (they always say it's 100% effective)
    2. Subject then agrees to a simple prelminary test of the ability, if both side thinks it's fair...
    3. If the first step is passed then the subject agrees to a second more controlled test...
    4. If that is passed that the subject moves on to the real tests with all of the test procedures agreed to and spelled out all nice and legal in a formal contract.
    5. If they can pass the real test, then they win one million dollars held in recivership
So far no one has ever made it pass step #3 (I don't think anyone made it past #2 either, but I may be wrong about that). According to Randi most people can't even make it pass step #1, and when that 100% effective ability fiails there is always an excuse for why it didn't work that time.

Ther isn't one single documented case of a "psychic" actuallysolving the case.  Most of the time they just take the credit for any real police work.  The few times that a cop states that a psychic solved a crime, is wasn't because of any info the psychic "revealed" is was only later that the cop goes "oh she said it was near water and here's a toilet" or something like that.  The term for fitting a prdiction to the evience is called retrofitting.

By the way, the SciFi channel has a long history of editing "psychic" programs (to make the performance more convincing) and using bogus edvience.  Don't forget that SciFi is short for "science fiction", they are under no obligation to be honest.  Not that other networks really are either...

I don't think anyone has mentioned that that girl may possibly be lying. What if her boyfriend had no involvment in 9/11, but instead died by drowning. Sylvia Brown isn't a psychic, she just says she can communicate with people who have died, so she wouldn't know if that girl was lying or not!

Always have to look at both sides of the argument(or something like that).

Desalus: good point..it is possible that the woman that Sylvia was "reading" could have been lying about 9-11, but it's not the first time that Sylia was wrong (she's been wrong many times before) on other readings.  On Larry King she long ago (Sept. 3, 2001) promised to take Randi's $1,000,000 challenge this was recorded on national TV.  She has apparently never tried to even go take one of the preliminary tests, but she has offered lots of excuses as to why she won't finally accept the challenge.

Tushae Desalus. If only they had the whole show...maybe she was and it was a test. It could have been edited to make her look bad. Desalus does have a point. She did stick to her word and didn't try to cover up.

It's a possibility that people just hate Silvia and so they go to the show and concoct phony stories to make her look bad. On the other hand that would mean there are no dead people related to the stories and to the audience members thus Sylvia is talking to nobody in the afterlife, so she is still a scam and a lier for always claiming she is talking to someone....or the ghost is a scammer.....
