Graphics
Graphics are good compared to a mid-90's game. Altough i'm still
impressed by its high rating its finally lowering to a 5,8. The
official screenshots lie a bit ofcourse.. they make the world lively
while its big and empty actually. The world is mainly built up from
flat green textures. Some stuff like skincolor hasn't been implented
yet. Everyone looks pretty much the same. Only difference is your
height and the face you picked. (Note that the face looks like a flat
paper mask made from pictures from google-image) If you walk in the
water, 'coz swimming isn't implented yet, you will get an ugly blue
texture on the screen which will overlay your normal view with about
40%. Since the world is pretty much flat and extremly empty you don't
have any points of direction. The horizon is filled with a low
resolution background they probally downloaded at some free gallary
website. For some reason the forest was always on a different place
when i played the game. The ground was always there where it should be
but the trees where always on different areas. Gues it is some bug but
i don't know. Never heard anyone about it. Also note that you cannot
walk over the bridges. And buildings are empty and all look the same.
Sound
Sound is awful. You hear some different standard sounds when walking on
different kinds of terrain and you'll notice the clash of weapons in a
fight. But you won't hear much of nature. Not much of a blowing wind or
anything. A game like Duke Nukem 3D had better sound than this one.
Roleplaying
I havn't tried roleplaying much 'coz i don't like it. I do tried to
enter a guild once.. after 5 days playing with them they mailed the
whole guild to ask if everyone was ok with me joining the guild. Seemed
two guys who wern't online much never spoke to me yet.. therefor i
couldn't fully join yet. So i gues roleplaying is there :P
Value
The game costs 20-25 euro's. I bought it for 24 euro's at pre-sale at a
german i-shop. Ok here is it compared to others games. All games listed
i had more fun with!
1. City of Villians - €19,95 .. got lucky and got 2 key's.. still one unused. Played only the free month.
2. WoW - € 55 bought it from Ebay, played two months for free then sold it with no time left for € 65
3. SWG - € 29,95 .. bought the game plus 1 million ingame money at
ebay. Made 49 million in 2 months of intens gameing and sold it for € 79
4. The Ship Online - € 19,95.. bought this one last week. No monlty
payment. Its such a funny game but not a RPG tho
.. go check it out
on google its so much fun!
5. EQ2 - € 49,95 .. sold it for 39,95 but never had much fun outta it
6. Shot Online - Free.. its free.. and more fun... and better graphics.. better sounds.. better in everything.
Ok .. so much about value.. i wouldnt want to play this game if it were for free.
Fun
I never had any fun with RV. Only frustrations. Bugs... lots of them!
Fanboys keep saying it are the 'normal' startup bugs. Not really true..
there are lots of bugs on which RB should shame themselves actually. I mostly got frustrated 'coz of the attending. There arn't any quests to be done, many craftingstuff hasn't been implented and until last month PC's and NPC's could simply walk right trough eachother making formations effectless. Fighting is 99% about stats and not about playerskills as RB states on their website. I expected fighting to be like a good FPS. Well.. its anything but that. I could troll a complete book together when talking about fun and RV together in one sentence.
Community
Pretty friendly and mature community. Lots of fanboys who for some
reason keep creating false images on forums to attract customers. I
don't understand why they do that but they probally think the same
about me. Community is only nice thing about RV. But you can find a
nice community even in WoW.
Lag
Shame shame shame.. check their forums. People cannot even login
The servercap is probally smaller then my own company servers.
Customerservice
Devs working hard and close doenst make a good customerservice.
Compared to WoW for example the cusomterservice sucks. They don't have
a phoneline. Also you must enter your accountpage in a pretty weird
way. There is no really 'my account' button. There are no helpfiles
except the Wikipages which are built up by players themselves.

But hey, show me ONE more realistic skill based open PvP sandbox game, and I'll eat my hat.
Roma Victor is ugly, broken, unfinished, and lagged, but I play it and have no intention of stopping because it fills a niche market that is desperately crying out to be filled! (By .005% of the MMORPG playerbase)
Besides, RB have a vision, and they're trying so damned hard.
Yeah, I can hear the DnL devs all chanting in unison, "That Roma Victor has POTENTIAL!!!!!".
another lag free night for me last night...tho I did have 3 CTD's, but I am chalking those up to not upgrading to XP.
