Even though this is the game that is introducing me to MMOs, I will not buy it. And I'm considering at this moment to report it to Turbine...
lol.. I would guess that CM is the LoTRO Eu distributor or has some affiliation if they're offerring beta invites. Funny though.

Think that was the final nail in the coffin. This game is just like all
the others except that this time, they sold out to the European market
by giving away a beta key for the price of a magazine while those in North America are fighting over them like dogs. by begging with posts on the forums and they tease the players with "You may or may not. Enter the competition to win a beta seat". I'm disgusted.
Every day it's something new. Something else this company has gone back on their word on. They've added PvP, and raids, and now this...
This company has become just like every other game out there. Only this time, this is a disgrace and the outlook is grim.
I'd rather play Darkfall. I don't like PvP but at least they haven't pulled this kind of crap.
To be fair the Darkfall team havnt really pulled anything, not even a sign of a realease yet and its been what 4 years hmmmm.
I think your over reacting slightly to this, CM are the EU distributors and its not only a good way for them to make money by foing it, but it will also help them get people interested in RF online (there other game) at the same time, so why it may offend you, its not only good for them but its good for the people who want beta access.
Personally i could go and buy it right now, but im not to fussed.

I don't care how long it's taken to get it out. I care that the company is fulfilling the things it promised and not making it a clone of every other game out there. Just like this one's doing. The only thing that's making this game unique in any way is that it has the Tolkien name.
At least Darkfall (not to mention, Pirates of the Burning Sea, Star Trek Online, Age of Conan, and Gods and Heros) haven't pulled the kind of garbage that Turbine has. What's next? Will be soon have playable evil races, balrogs, wizards, and just about everything else under the sun.
This game, out of all games, should be unique and different. Something that stands out among the current market that's offering all the exact same thing (except for Darkfall. DF seems to be offering the same thing SWG used to be offering. DF is the only one currently offering that kind of "anythings possible" stance).
Why should I buy a game that's just like all the others in everything but name? No thanks, it's not worth it to be loyal to a company when they've been playing everyone right from the beginning.
Well we will se when it comes out, atleast we know that Lord of the Rings online will be coming out and thats more than we can say for Darkfall, many people still belive darkfall may not come out, i actually read a post before and its been in developement for 6 years not 4, most games are atleast ready to beta in 3 or under, so yeh im sceptical about DF.
Still i think your over reacting, im not saying the game will be great but at this point i also cant say that the game will be bad as i havnt played it and nor have you, but unlike you i tend not to make harsh judgements before i try somthing.
If its great then good ill be happy and so will many others. If it sux then oh well say goodbye to Turbine as they may aswell just dissapear if they make this game flop, Lord of the Rings is such an amazing piece of work that if they ruin it, then they will pretty much destroy there last life line.

But you can't blame this on Turbine, I'd blame it on Codemasters. Codemasters is using the rights for LOTRO in a shameful way. They releace info that the US devs refuse to announce... make you register to listen to any interesting info... and Turbine can do nothing about it.
If you want to play it so badly why dont you jus play the EU beta til their simultaneous release... your character is going to get whiped anyway...
The offer is to promote the RFO Magazine. Man if you guys give up this easily youre gonna have a hard time at release.

Im kind of annoyed at that, to be honest i think its total bullshit. (sorry for my language) what the hell is the point in a contest, when you have a means to buy your way in. This totally defeats the object.. oh! its called cheating...

According to the main LOTRO forums there is going to be a EU beta and a US beta, so let codemasters handle their beta how they see fit. The Game is only in alpha so far so why even worry yet. And everyone crapping all over this game saying things like its just like *&&#^@ or same as *#&#^ how the hell do you know. Unless your in the alpha keep it to your self. Basically put up or shut up. Everyone dumps all over turbine, well find me one company thats making a game right now that everyone isnt saying negative things about. AoC looks good, alot of upcoming games look good, but until they are released we wont know.. so stop over analyzing the screen shots and other peoples comments, who dont know anymore about the game than you do. All we can do is wait and see.. It will either be good or another D&L.
