I expected to see fleets of ships like in StarTrek Deep Space Nine battle with Dominion. Or at least something like in Stargate, fleets of Guo'uld motherships fighting replicators.
From your screenshots, I don't even see any ship, only colored tiny dots...
Couldn't find the video with the ships going PEW PEW PEW. Nonetheless, this vid should serve the purpose of displaying how crowded space can become.
ASCN and AXE had a combined fleet of like 425 ships (might need to be corrected here). The ASCN fleet was ordered to approach the jumpgate while the AXE fleet was positioned into sniping positions. So what you are seeing is the ASCN fleet (140 ships?) approaching the camera that's by the jumpgate while the AXE fleet is sitting really far away from the jumpgate. In fact, those little sparklely things by the star are actually AXE battleships. The camera later pans and zooms in on part of the capital ship fleet, mostly carriers, which are sitting off to the side of the main fleets.

Err....that's a zoomed out view...if it was closer you wouldn't be able to see how many ships were there because the screen would be blocked by all of them.
Think like in BSG when waves of cylon raiders are attacking, but instead their all battleship sized.

For the love of god people. Stop provoking the Eve-Online fans. They are at least mildly quiet when no one bothers them. Yet threads like this only provoke them, and end up causing junk post. Hence why we have so many damn "Eve-Online is" topics now. They are like a bug bite. If you scratch them, you only make it worse. Just leave them be.
In War - Victory. In Peace - Vigilance. In Death - Sacrifice.
Clan-based. A good corp is a must. Voice comms is a must. A desire to play as a group ALL THE TIME is highly recommended. Yes there are people who play solo and who do so happily for years. I have no idea what drives them, but the game lets you solo if you want.
PVP. You can be attacked anywhere, even in "safe space." Market is PVP. Industry is PVP. Being in a corp is PVP. Corporate espionage, mercenary contracts and backstabbing is RAMPANT. You can get attacked one day out of the blue by another corp, and find out they got hired by some guy you mouthed off to 6 months ago who didn't forget the insult. Politics is HUGE. Real life social skills is a must.
Sandbox. After you do your tutorial and storyline, you are thrown into the game with no friends, no goals and no idea wtf is going on. The freedom is incredible. The learning curve is HUGE.
If these 3 aspects do not make you cream your pants, then Eve is not for you.
Me personally I love it. I love the drama, I love the freedom.

Yes because solo games let you take part in 200 vs 200 fleet battles.
I always hear about these "200 vs 200" fleet battles, but never seen a screenshot of one. Are they a myth like bigfoot or do they really exsist? We want screenshots dangitt!!!
Here is a vid of a large fleet battle(not sure on numbers). Right click save as "randomname.wmv" The best of it starts about half way through.
That's no where near 200 vs 200 ships, so you guys need to stop saying that Eve has 200 vs 200 fleet battles because there's no proof of it. Besides it would probably crash the server if that many ships were close together. That video might be 50 vs 50 or so and just look at the lag he had while filming that wow!

Eve is obviously not for you.
Move along.
Oh, and a bit of advice.

Somebody asked for a 200 vs 200 screenshot, and i pasted it. Not exactly 400 ships, but some mins ago i was very close. If it looks like or crap or not, thats your point of view. As somebody said, it was a zoomed out pic, so i could get more ships on the pic. But from a normal view, you could have seen the ships very well. Well, anyway, argueing with such people seems a waste of time.
I wasnt bashing players nor the game. Its just my opinion that the games not worthy of a fee and is way over-hyped on their ratings here. I even said its semi decent for a space rpg.
Its really hard to base opinions on 3-5000 votes. Link this site on WoW,EQ2,L2 etc forums and see how fast those games are no#1-2.
In a way, EvE is a solo game. But, its is also a multiplayer game in that same way. Its a giant sandbox with thousands of toys to play with, no one tells you how to have fun. If my idea of fun is trading and playing the market, I could sit in a station all day and not talk to anyone. But say tomorrow I want to go bust up some gate camp. So I go group up with my friends and blow stuff up. My trial game felt pretty lonely because I didnt know anyone. People arent gona walk up and say hey want to be friends? and start holding your hand. YOU have to take the initiative and go find a group of people that like to play the same way you do. Maybe you could pool your money together and buy something to sell/make stuff from and get even more money. Maybe you could get 80-100 people together and have a fleet op. Long story short, EvE is what you make of it. The game isnt going to come up to you and say, hey whats up, this is the only way to have fun because I said so! You actually have to decide what you want to do for fun.

^^ So true this game can be lonely, over crowded, whatever you make it. I been playing for 3 months now started a noob corp with some people i met in game (took a little work). To make a long story short in my corp we made alot of money forged friendships and are starting to really enjoy the game.
Today was the craziest day yet for eve for us in EvE we let what we thought was an ex-pirate join our corp a few days ago to run protection for us on mining operations in low security space. Well turns out he got bored protecting us and decided to start killing us. Of course this pissed us off so 4 of us 2 of us being 1 week old players, trapped him and killed him and podded him while he was still in the corp. In the end we lost some money in ships but it made the corp bond together and take this guy out for our first corp kill.
This game is crazy and unforgiving but very rewarding and it's hardly a solo game.
During my trail period I never saw anyone either. All the systems were empty. Occationally I would see some people at warp gates when doing missions but only in the major systems... Other then that no-body.
Yes their were tons of people in my corp channel (that i was forced to be apart of as a newbie) but none of them were actually talking about the game (its more like an offtopic channel).
What really makes me mad about eve (other then the leveling system of course) is how people always say it has such great graphics. When you zoom in the ships look like they are made up of like 300 polygons and their textures are not that great either. The particle effects may have been screwed up by the lag I always got but it would never appear correctly (jet streams running through the front of the ships ect). There was nothing apealing at all. The combat against the bandits or whatever was always done from like 600 units away for optimal range of my weapons and at that range you cant even see your enemy anyway (its just a blob with a coloured sqaure cover up with a bunch of numbers. I really want someone to post screens of these amazing graphics which everyone claims exist.
Finally someone got my view....It is really a game that u may see some other players..but so what? U cant even like go and visit their ship or what so ever...And the worse case is that the channel is all but just ppl asking things with channel so tiny...and so many ppl talking..it is a pain o see the channel talk sometimes...And what is worse is that it is just click and fire type of game..not like in those more lively games...for example, space cowboy...And the graphic is not very cool...so to tell the truth...it doesnt really suit to be in the top 5 of mmorpg and nor it really to have such costly monthly fees...>< I perfer spending it in better games like WoW, guild wars and etc...which should have been in the no.1 postition..

Something more like this? ASCN & AXE Fleet - E3 blockade
