Age of Conan has released the tenth in their ongoing series of Gameplay Previews. This week's preview is titled Blood Money and PvP. As usual, the feature is far too large to print here, so if you like what you've read, click the link below to read the whole thing:

The dark and dangerous lands of Hyboria that have seen Conan rise to the throne of Aquillonia make up a treacherous and deceitful world where even the most petty or trivial of disagreements will invariably be settled by the blade (not uncommonly from behind whilst the victim is unawares!) Something is always at stake when reputations are forged by force of steel or the ingenuity of will. In Age of Conan the player versus player combat will always have equally vicious consequences and a bloody purpose that will always ensure you have something worth fighting for.
When we came to think about PVP in Age of Conan we wanted to ensure that it reflected that dark and hostile environment. We want to make sure that there will always be something at stake when a player decides to make a name for themselves in the Border Kingdoms. Likewise though, PVP still has to be fun, and no one really likes losing their hard earned possessions, so we have a very special system of Blood Money that operates in the PVP areas.
Blood Coins are effectively the currency of combat in the Border Kingdoms, tokens taken from the dying corpses of your foes. These Blood Coins are a mark of victory amongst combatants that will serve as bragging rights, status symbols and also a very useful currency in itself.
Read it all here.

yeah sounds good....i would have liked full corpse loot better but if u are able to buy stuff that isnt available to non pvp players (not even to use?) it might be very interesting since the main purpose of carebears is to pile everything together....lets see what they do if there are items they cannot get in flowerland.
i hope u will lose the most of your coins when being killed....people shouldnt be able to safe their coins at all...
But beside that I can't wait to see how it work in reality when your in a group, those the loot is share amongs the group, randomly distribute or it is ninja loot. Will we have to PvP solo? Sorry if these question have been answered already.
Get a life you freaking Gamer.....no no, you don't understand, I'm a Gamer, I have many lives!!
It's better be hated for who you are, than loved for who you aren't.
PvP players will get it from PvPing.
Good balance.
theres only 1 true PvP mmorpg being made
www.thronesofchaos.com
No levels , no classes , all skill based. Age of conan has too many restrictions to be good for true PvP and Instancing. lame
Second, Throne of Chaos=Mourning.
You go to a forum and post "teh throneofchaos ftw" and that's it!
Beyond crap.
It's a PvP grind with a DP(only difference from wow) and lack of 'newcomer advantage'.
1. Noone sane will fight at 50-50 chances, when he can camp entrance and hunt relatively defenceless newbies. Not with DP in place.
2. People who PvP 24/7 already have agvantage of terrain knowledge, game konwledge, contacts and conditional-reflex-like player skills. Why for the love of God give them another advantage in form of PVP ONLY skills and items?
3. Since blood money comes to circulation by entering the zone, two guilds can make an agreement and run normal money->blood money dry cleaning ops.
4. eBay and profit - uber guilds are the ones with total monopoly on blood money.
How it's going to work in detail:
You buy normal gold on ebay and have 20 characters spend it on Border Kingdom tickets. Then you kill those characters and collect blood money. Since friendly guilds are camping entrances 24/7 you make sure you're the only one with a license to print blood money. since you're using entire guilds and several dozens of chareacters, you avoid every possible timer devs can put in.
After you have a lot of blood money, you go to ebay and let winner kill your blood money mule. Everyone's happy - catasses finally have a source fo income and e-peen guys can have cool PvP sword to wag around without having to spend 10 minutes in combat:P
Oh, you mean that 99% of pvpers lose? Screw them - they wanted hardcore pvp so they have it now. Muahahaha!
If any guilds is going to use it, I want membership, send invites by PM:D

I have a thread going. I'm pretty sure I had this out before MMORPG.com did. Just a thought.
Well, even if the guilds farm all the blood money, there's only 20 PvP levels. So even the normal person will get to level 20 and have "uber 1337" gear sooner or later. Also you don't have to PvP if you don't want to. Of course that could be a damper on your gear, skills and overall chances of actually fighting a fair match, but I think it will work out.
We'll see.
And I don't understand why everyone thinks every single game is a WoW clone. WoW just came out a little while ago. There WAS Meridan 50, UO, EQ, AC and many others that set the path for WoW. Only thing World of Warcraft did was take the best and spit shine them up, that's IT!
So to see a game that doesn't have orcs, trolls, eleves is far better then WoW. And remember, everyone is new once in their life.
It's like any game, the bigger, stronger guilds usually sit on top becaue they are, bigger and stronger then everyone else. It's how everything (even in real life) works.
It's Conan, the game isn't made for crying Carebears.
Can anyone tell me why there is so much hate between players with different playstyles? Let the people play what they want, that's why most mmos have different servers.
And just because someone doesn't like corpse looting doesn't mean he is a carebear, I know some good pvpers with skill that just hate that idea. There are more colors then black and white, lighten up and stop insulting people.
There is a difference between "anything" and everything.
I believe in penalties, but it has to be balanced. Not too hard but also not too soft.
And you sound a little arrogant, don't sit too high on your mighty 1337 horse. Many people are better than you and would beat you hands down regardless of the penalties.
Just accept the fact that some people cannot play all day, maybe only a few hours a week. Or they just don't like being looted, because they think punising a victim of ganking is stupid.
To each their own, don't try to force people on your playstyle. Your playstyle isn't better than mine, it's just different.
Many developers are trying more and more to get people to play more carefully but without harsh penalties. Potbs and WAR for instance. Those 2 are gonna be great games with great PvP and balanced penalties for the mainstream.
Of course, you will always have people that want harder.
I really hope you're not talking to me. I work SIX days a week, 10 hours a day. I really wish sometimes I could sit home and play a game all day, but I actually work to live, not game to live, sorry.
And I also don't know what you're talking about when you're saying "mighty 1337 horse", again I really don't think you're talking to me. If you ARE going to talk about someone, please quote them, that's all. Makes life a little easier.
I never said people are anything. Just saying there's going to be guilds that will camp, kids that will play for 15+ hours and people like myself who will "Get there when they get there..." since they actually work for a living.
Also I never said I was "good" I was just saying that the above person to my last post was saying that... and I was just trying to say that a lot of people who think they are good wouldn't think twice about PvP if they had something to lose. I wasn't in any way saying I was good. I wasn't even talking about myself. So before you make a snap judgement, stop and reread it... please.
So you enjoy getting ganked by kiddies and then redo everything when you only can play, let's say 4-5 hours a week? Well many people don't, it's a matter of choice of course.
I really hope these debates would stop, because if you argue about which playstyle is better then you could also argue about what tastes better: apples or oranges?
Let people play what they want without insulting them, you want to make games harder and some people argue against that. Do I call you a whiner because you state your opinion about penalties?
Hopefully we will see more mmo(rpg)s in the future, and I hope that everyone will find the game that he likes.
Raises many questions:
1) Who gets claim on the blood money (Sorry but i don't like the sound of "Blood Coin" i perfer "Blood Money"):
a/ The person who hits 1st?
b/ The person who does the most damage?
c/ The person who is credited with the death blow?
d/ Is it a share of the profit based on damage done?
e/ Does the body fall and just anyone can loot it?
f/ The 1st person to loot the corpse?
2) Is it transferable to alts or guildies?
3) Does it take up an inventory slot?
4) Can you go into blood money debt?
5) What is the conversion rate of blood money to normal money (if there is one)?
6) What is the bare minimum you need to enter the PvP area?
7) Can you exchange blood money back into real coin?
8) Do you have to loot the corpse or is it an automatic transfer?
9) is there a limit to the amount of blood money you can exchange or can you buy your way to the top?
10) If I am part of a guild and make a character of the opposing faction can I exchange blood money and allow my guildies to kill and loot me so they can earn mega blood money without any risk?
You can see where these questions effect your style of play and that the one with the most coin may be the one who loots more than they kill.
