I'm in an mmo slump. I've tried them all. In fact, I played L2 for a bit, and even RF Online for a bit. However, after a "comeback run" with WoW and so on, I've narrowed down my MMO choices right now to these 3. I see positive things and negative things about each. But, I want to hear from you guys. Which of these 3 should I play?

RF online is a L2 clone, and it is inferior.
What am I looking for exactly? Hmm...
I'd say bottom line is fun. I also enjoy community more than anything. Having mature people to group with, explore with, and adventure with is important. And I suppose the combat should be fun, if I'm going to be doing it a lot.
Community is most important, though.
Ryzom if you like a game focused on crafting. Any of the other (I guess) if you prefer PVP.
Definitely Ryzom for community, though you won't see it as much on the trial island.

Okay. I'm down to L2 vs Ryzom.
I have both boxes in front of me. Trying to decide which to install... HELP
Free = bad.
RF online is a L2 clone, and it is inferior.
what the heck are you talking about? RFO is nothing like Lineage 2 at all. RFO is Faction vs faction vs faction where Lineage 2 is FFA to just start with.
from that discibtion, Saga of ryzom for sure. or else Lineage 2.
By the way, what's with games not giving characters the ability to jump? It's amazingly irritating and tends to make the world feel less real (to me).
You got it opposite.
RF online is more like FFA. Because all players belong to 3 races, all the 3 races fight each other with no reason other than the game said so. You fight with the enemies you don't know, you fight side by side with the same race "buddies" you don't even know. That's called FFA.
In L2, yes it is open PvP that means you can kill anyone you want. In fact, there is NO random PvP. It is all about clan/alliance wars. Wars between player made clans/alliances. You fight side by side with yoru clanmates, and against the enemy clans/alliance. You do NOT kill anyone you see like in RF online...well RF online you kill anyone you see from a different race... Thus L2 should be called called group PvP.
WOW is horrible for being overrated THAT much. It is no better than half the MMO came out in the past 3 years. But it has more players than all the good/bad games combine.
You are funny. L2 sure is deserted in NEWBIE towns.
And your saying of no better mmorpg than wow is typical wow fans' saying. It is meaningless and worthless.
And I don't suppose you have seen this thread and the screenshots/videos in there?

Tell me about it what is "fun".
I suppose "go kill x this", "go kill y that", and mindlessly fighting the people you don't even know in battleground is your idea of "fun".
Honestly you are comparing apples and oranges. How are you going to ask which one, Ryzom or L2?
They are totally different games. They have completely different playstyles and communities.
Both games have their pro's and con's. It really depends on your personal taste and playstyle.
All I can say is stay away from RFO. Its a shallow copy of........well very basic PvP and PvE ideas.
Jazia you sure have been running your mouth alot lately. Just reviewed most of your recent post. You seem to think you are right, and everyone else is wrong. You also seem to be under the impression that your comments are fact, when they aren't. You also seem to think whatever you say is correct, when in fact it isn't.
Your posting habits are very disturbing to say the least.
In War - Victory.
In Peace - Vigilance.
In Death - Sacrifice.
True, I should have put IMHO.
So IMHO is not worth the time or the money for anyone to find out
EDIT
wait thats not my quote lol, but I did say the same thing in my post lol
RF online has almost the same elf as L2. Yet different with less clothes and bigger chests, not mention give a different name to their race. Talking about RF online copied L2's artwork.
Same old grinding. L2 open pvp player driven politics that anything can happen, RF online restricted to 3 races against each other because the game design said so...nothing will ever change.
L2 healing is depended on player healers, so more team work. RF online spam potions that you will never ever die in 1 on 1 unless you run out of potions.
Lineage 2 is more PvP and raids, I say definitely try Lineage 2 IF you have a good amount of time to devote. Around like 2-4 hours per day and even then it may take you a bit of time to get of the level to actually PvP in seiges, I used to PvP all the time and I was really low but that PvP was just me picking fights with random people .

The grind is still definately prevalant...I averaged abotu 12% an hour at level 62.
The guild/alliance politics in L2 are unbeatable. Everyone in the server knows the rep each guild/alliance holds, and this is disputed constantly.
Skirmishes occur on an hourly basis, and the castle sieges are the most fun I've ever had in PvP. 200v200, with your whole alliance in vent calling orders...it's just intense.
That being said, I played L2 for 3 years and had a complete burnout, and haven't touched it since. It was a load of fun.
I can't speak for pub servers. I played them at release and the rates were horrid. 12% an hour at 32 is unexcusable.
I've never touched ryzom, so I can;t speak for it, but L2's political PvP is definately worth a gander if you can get in a decent alliance and hit 52+.

You do realize people had worse gears at release? Much easier access to better gears AND high level buffs with time passed. I had D grade until level 43, and I had C grade until level 60, B grade until level 70. Now every level 40 has top C grade right after they hit 40, everyone has B grade as soon as hit 52, A grade in 60s.
And we had to upgrade gears little by little, from the worst of each grade to the best. Now who gets anything below the best? Everyone just directly upgrade to the best gears of next grade. Buffs is also very important. Back then, there was no high level buffers.
Second, C3 introduced xp boost.
1. 30% xp bonus for duo
2. 20% xp bonus for open field
3. full xp for green mobs
And when I leveled a buff bot in C3, partied my prophet with 2 archers, both archers were in 60s, they both claimed that they got 10% per hour.
Different class can level at different speed too. Some classes can't even solo, while nukers will kill the mobs before they can reach melee range.
One thing you might not know, in C3, silver ranger level 75 was getting 1% per hour solo with level 55+ prophet buffs.
And on public server 200 vs 200 is nothing. There are battles of up to 1000 people combine. GM confirmed btw. We wouldn't know for sure, because enemies don't tell us their exactly numbers.
