I know a little about the game so far from reading the forums...the consist grinding and everything...low levels suck, but thats just with any game you can't just jump into a game and have everything handed to you.  Im just confused on a lot of scales with the game... Like with jobs like you pick your main job then can you get up to like three  sub jobs or is it just one?  I was thinking about being the tiny race frogot their name sorry...then choose black mage and then going with red mage as a sub job...would that be a good combo for being able to get a group? also what is the blue mage?  With the subjob is it import to work on that job too....like keep it up to level with your main job?!? What would you recommend the craft I choose to pursue that would best intrest me. Im just full of questioned but im pretty sure I can just work those out when I buy the game...20 dollers two expanisions and the game with 30-free days sounds like a good deal to me..almost cheaper then a movie and popcorn and a lot more entertainment. Is there end game content like guild raids ect....Also I heard for like ever new char you start or char you have you have to pay like a doller or something is that true or do you get a set 8 char per account?!?! Thanks for the help!!! =D

In FFXI you can change your jobs at anytime by going to your mog house and speaking with your Moogle. When you start, you can choose from the Basic Jobs, Warrior, Thief, Monk, White Mage, Black Mage, & Red mage. Depending on what you pick You'll get A weapon, Spell, and of course starter armor.

When you start you only have a Main job, Wheather it be War, Thf, Mnk, Whm, Blm, or Rdm. At lvl 18 You can do the subjob quest, which allows you to have a subjob. Subjobs give you Stats, Job abilities, and Job traits. Your subjob its temporarily caped at half of your main jobs level, but will not raise Higher than it is. Meaning If your main is 18, and its the only job you've ever leveled than your sub will be lvl 1 (exampe 18war/1mnk). Only your main job recives experiance, so to raise a subjobs level, you must make it your main job and Level it. You may only have 1 subjob at a time, but any job has the opportunity to be your subjob, Some are just perfered more than others.

The race you were refering to are Tarutaru.

Blue Mages are an advanced job. Meaning you most be at least lvl 30 to start the quest to unlock them. A blue mage typically uses swords and abilities learnt from monsters. (If you've played FFX think Kimahri)

Tanks & Mages are Top Priorty when starting a group, Commen tanks are Warrior, Paladin, & Ninja. And Mages, White, Black, & Red. Blue Mages are mages, but thought more as Damage dealers. Support Jobs such as Bard and Corsair are a high priorty aswell, and every other job is concidered a damage dealer and they fill the remaining slots. (Partys have 6 ppl btw).

FFXI has a sh!t load of endgame content, a lot of people after making it to endgame, will level other jobs just for their importants in endgame. Theres Dynamis, Limbus, Sky, Sea, Moon, & HNM's. Would take too long to explain all of those, Use this as a information referance.

In FFXI you can change jobs freely, So your character can be any of 18 jobs, with the hundreds of subjob combonations. Unlike other games where once you make a job decision you're stuck with it untill you make a new character. With that said, the most commen reason to have multipul characters is for storage, Storing old equipment or even new equipment, Misc items, things you don't want to sell because you may use them again. Additional Content ID (Things which you make your character on) Do cost an extra $1 a month, I'm not sure of the number, But I think you can have 32 Characters Per account.
