Comments on GW graphics art.

I've been just wondering what type of engine GW team are using to render those graphics.

It looks awesome. It has very distinct feeling in it. A clear contrast from Lineage 2.

    No, our Screenshots Section includes only totally unaltered in-game images. We use a distinctive glow technology that gives an unusual and fantastical appearance to the screen captures. All the in-game screenshots that are in our Gallery are completely unaltered, and come straight from the game to you.




    I cant find any info about the game engine but i'll assume the glow technology has something to do with it.

    I think the glow effect is just amazing.  Those screen shots just look "alive"...

    Heck if the admin likes it must be goodimage

    It was a good idea to change the graphics because alot of people at battle.net were thinking the games graphics were a joke but now they are equal and maybe better than WoW's.

    The screenshots are amazing, they look so well. Nice to see that Admin is liking the game, Guild Wars is certainly going to be a great game.

    The characters look great  but thats where i have to draw the line, the enviroments just look flat.I think it has to do with the way the horizon just ends.Colours are really nice though.

    I am impressed with the graphics so far.  I would like to see them move around though :)  It has caught my eye just because their graphics are so much different than all of the other engines out there.

    Yes, it looks absolutely fantastic...Although some of the characters look a bit stiff sometimes. (Just a little)

     

    Anyway, this game, together with WoW, will be the games I'll be looking forward to...So much great art in both of them.image

    Haha your making WoW sound too good, these graphics are way superior to WoW's......tho I still reckon WoW will be a great game.......plus the new engine for GW's looks great image

    WoW has the crappiest graphics of any of the big name upcoming MMORPG's (Guild Wars, UXO, EQ2, Lin2, CoH)...

    comparing WoW's graphics to any of these is a laugh

    I don't think so. I think WoWs graphics are fantastic...Not in a Polygon kinda sense, but, in an artistic kinda sense. (And that is important, just look how crappy the EQ2 models/Locations look) No other games have such a cool imaginary world as WoW, (except maybe GW) with all those awesome characters and locations. Yeah, to say that WoW has crappy graphics is pretty ignorant...I'm not saying WoW has the best graphics, just saying that It's a beautiful world to be part of. GW looks to go the same way. image

    Yeh, WoW graphics and GW graphics just cant be compared i mean GW is going for the more realism in their graphics and WoW is going for the more cartoonish fantasy type.

    im sorry but maybe u shoudl take a look at some screenshot sections...

    im sick of these people acting like WoW's fx are better then the rest, it just goes to show how being a fanboy can cloud ur sense...

    seriously if u think WoW has good graphics comparing to the new wave of MMORPG's, u REALLY havnt looked around...

    seriously actually go look at some of the other screenshot sections...

    Guild wars - WAAAAAYYYYY better... no if's and's or but's... its undeniable...

    Lineage 2 - once again... WWWAAAAAAAYYYYY better... the architecture and textures are un-matched in any modern day MMORPG...

    EQ2 - maybe not WAAYYYYYY better but still alot better... i've seen almost every ss from both WoW and EQ2 and being non-biased about either i can EASILY say EQ2 has better...

    anywayz i gotta go out for dinner but believe me if i didnt i could go on and on

    Dude, that depends on what you think is most important:

    1. Shiny reflexes and models that look like barbie dolls, great particle effects. (EQ2)

    or

    2. Great art, nice DESIGN, and a very SPECIAL look. Basically the opposite to EQ2, without the great effects that EQ2 can pull off. (WoW, Cartoony)

    ...Personally, I'd prefer a mix of those two variants...like Guild Wars.

    Why is the GW engine far above any other engine currently out on the market?

    I test GW, and I have an athlon 850, 312 MB sdram, geforce 5200 fx, in other words a crap system not worhty of any attention, and GW runs in 1024*780 on 25 fps with full detail, looking just like those screenshots.

    GW runs like a charm on low-end systems and high-end systems alike. The engine is so good that an expensive PC is not needed to see all its charm. Yes, that does include reflections, that nice particle glow effect and lots of other things.
