I want to restart my DAoC account, but my parents won't let me because school is starting and they say it will "interfere", i'm considering just taking their credit card without their knowlage (i've done it in the past and they haven't seemed to care if I just explain myself).

My parents are just stubborn about all things video game and try and keep me away from them for the most part..

What should I do, take their credit card, and play DAoC? Not take their credit card and wait for 4 months...four long mmo-free months, or something else?

Thanks for reading this and try and respond without...ridiculing/making fun of me.

I WANT MY DARK AGE.

Well...you probably SHOULD listen to them and focus on school...but...

If you're gonna play anyway, I would say you should try to get your hands on $30 and buy a  2 month game card.  Play for 2 months (or as many as you can afford via game cards), and keep your grades up.  Then tell your parents that you've been playing, but you are still able to keep your grades up, and ask them, as a reward for your grades, if they will transfer the fees back to their card.

I considered that, I get a 30$ allowance every month, and I spent my next 2 on GW (huge waste, I saw pretty pictures and wanted it bad, got to level 20 before I even knew how to add people to my friends list)..

How do I get game cards by the way? If it requires a credit card or if it's something I cannot do without my parents knowlage then i'm screwed.

I played DAoC 2 years ago and my parents considered my 1 and a half hour per week day, 2 hour play time on weekends an addiction, so they hate this game and don't want me to play it.

    1) Don't steal from your parents, ok? Just don't do it, that's like the lowest of the low.

    2) Getting 30 bucks really isn't that hard. Mow a couple of lawns or something like that, that kind of money is cake to get your hands on if you put some effort into it. And afterwards, playing the game will be so much sweeter, knowing that you worked for something and achieved your want through your own efforts is so much more satisfying.

You can get game cards from most of the retail stores (BestBuy, Gamestop, EBGames, etc).  DAoC is an older game so it maybe be harder to find stores that carry the gamecards (i used my CC when I played so i dont know how easy they are to get) but if you can get out to the store, you dont need a credit card to buy the game cards, just good ole' cash.

I'm not ridiculing or making fun of you BUT don't you see whats fundamentally wrong with your problem?

i'm considering just taking their credit card without their knowlage (i've done it in the past and they haven't seemed to care if I just explain myself).

You are telling us you are basically going to "steal" the card and commit fraud.

Talk it over with them and work something out.

Ugh. You're right, stealing from your parents is something meth addicts do.

    Thanks.

Are you kidding me? It's 15 dollars. And it's not like i'd do it more then once that's just wrong. I just want to prove to them..the only way I know how, that I can play DAoC and not get addicted.

You are going to demonstrate this by stealing their credit card? Thats not a way to build a strong defense.

    Thanks.

    Overall you seem confused

It seems you need to think this over a bit. Theft and fraud is theft and fraud, the amounts involved are irrelevent.

Try SPEAKING with your parents. Learn to deal with and negotiate and communicate with them. I'm a parent of 3. I would be very disappointed if my kids didn't talk things over with me.

You're right i'll just talk to them again, thanks for the advice everyone.

I should give things more thought next time.

concentrate on you school. edcutaion is very important.  not only you have to compete with your fellow man, you have to compete with chinese and indian, we call them foreign talents.

after you gradulate, you got plenty of time to play..

  • ZeremiZeremi Member Posts: 386

Yeah, well, you should tell them that you could do the school and play in free time...

And you should really do the school works before games.
After they see that you can do school and play in free time they will allow you to play your DAoC.

But just DONT take the credit card or play in secret...
    It just makes things harder.

If they dont allow you to play it, do school like 1 month and then ask could you play it.

For me, its the best way...

Keep that kind of mindset up and one day you'll find the judge you're trying to explain yourself to will definitely not care when he sentances you.

Well genius, you seem to be surprised your parents try to keep you away from video games. After reading that you have already stolen from them in the past and plan to do it again to satisfy your addiction I would say they have a good reason to slap you silly every time you think about playing a game :)

Here's an idea, get emancipated and get a minimum wage job so you can play all the games you want when you aren't serving people food at mcdonalds.

It's better be hated for who you are, than loved for who you aren't.

I honestly don't know how you could distort this even more. If I tell them I took their money, explain to them why, and pay them back..that really isn't stealing.

I'm not a criminal or a bad kid so shut up douchebag.

EDIT** I already explained that I only played for 1 and a half hours on week days, and 2 hours on weekends, that is nothing compared to a lot of mmo players i've seen.

I think you should go for the studying. You're so gonna regret it in you're future life if you're gonna work as some builder or smth like that. I say study and later when you get a good job you can stil enjoy the fun of games.

  • NierroNierro Member UncommonPosts: 1,755
I'm not planning on playing video games in the future, only pre-college.
