Greetings all,
I wonder if there is a MMORPG (or anything similar) out there that:
1. Does NOT have PvP and
2. is worth playing and paying for?
I've been to some games already and they were not bad games at all, yet the PvP in them always drowe me away after a while. Contrary to many players, I just see no entertaining value in it and thus tend to get frustrated with it. There are a lot of games on the list and getting through them all would take just too much time, therefore I'm asking for your suggestions.

And if you ment a game that is out now, I would reccomend WoW. It has PvP but there are non PvP servers you can join. If you don't mind raiding dungeons over and over for loot for end game, you should really loook into it. There is a free trial I beleive as well.
I'm pretty sure EQ2 is all PVE.
WoW is PVE on the PVE servers.
The best PvE RPG I have played is Neverwinter Nights. It might not be a MMO, but it is multiplay. It is very server depended. Servers with good custom made moduels are much much more fun than other servers. The server I used to play is called Aventia. With 72 slots. And there are 3 of them, you can switch among the 3 with portal inside the game. That's the best PVE I have played.
There is almost no PvP there. Most places are non pvp zone. And you basicly go on to trips with a party. The chance your own party turn on you is pretty much 0. And the chance to meet another party out there is also really low, since all trips are one way through. You wouldn't start the trip if you see mobs were cleaned near the start point.
City of Heroes is worth paying for. It does have PvP, but it's insignificant and confined to 3 battlegrounds and an arena.
You have to go to the specific fight arena if you wish to fight.
Yes, I hear a lot about LotR, but I'm a bit suspitious about it. Especially since the story *is* the story from the book. That means the game might be limited in its scope and meaningful things to do. I have no wish to play Frodo, Galadriel or anyone else and I despise Fandom in most of its forms.
WoW I have seen praised and cursed at various occasions. 'Non PvP servers' might sound like a good idea, but if the game has been developed to include PvP, there will be something missing in the PvP free parts.
I want a horsey!!!
On a more serious note, the statement that "there is a PvP, but it won't bother you" doesn't convince me I'm afraid. I've been there before and it *did* bother me.
After read some other replies, I have some more to say.
If you are a PvE fan, obivously you will not be satisfied by the type of PvE that "go kill x this", "go kill y that", while the mobs are just in one group walk around there with a respawn rate of 30 seconds. It is obivously very boring to slashing/hacking on the same spot...that you kill 1 mob, then go for the next one, and turn around only to find the first mob already respawned. Nothing ever changes. Nothing really being accomplished.
So do yourself a favor. Find the real fun PvE game, not some typical grinding with a mask of "quest". Don't be fooled by some delusioned fans of some popular game.
Like I already suggested, Neverwinter Nights on some servers are very fun. Such as Aventia. But it is just one multiplay not MMO. All the PvE there are trips that ranged from 30 min. to ... 3 days. Most trips are 1~2 hours though. 1 way through. NO camping same spot mindlessly slaying same mobs who are respawning over and over. You fight your way to meet the bosses, and the boss will offer some difficulty but also treaures. Only bosses drop loot, all other mobs don't. So save yourself trouble to pick up worthless loots from every single mob.
As the matter of fact, most .. if not ALL MMO's PvE are grinding.
You might also want to give a try to the trial of Dungeons and Dragons. It seems to be dungeon style of PvE just like what I experienced on Aventia, though the dungeons are really really short that no where as interesting as on Aventia, but it MIGHT just because it's beginner's dungeons. After all I am only level 2. Just go try it for 9 days yourself, it's free to try.
I've checked the Marple Story out a bit, it does indeed seem like there will be no PvP in it, although a quick forum search brought up a fair number of "We must have PvP" posts. The game looks ... well ... cute. I was kind of hoping for a more serious looking game, but I guess I can't have it all.
I'll keep the question up, maybe there will be another suggestion?
