I FINALLY figured out how to describe WoW's "PVP"!

SnaKeySnaKey Member Posts: 3,386

WoW's PVP is a mini-game!

Seriously, look at it. Battlefields is a complete mini-game no questions there. The Raids are nothing more than a mini-game played out in the persistant world. How is it a mini-game? Because. There is no end. You basically play till you get bored. There is nothing to it. When you die, whta do you do? Oh well you just keep playing.

When you finally get bored and leave and everything is all said and done...

the place you just "took" over completely returns to normal
all your equipment is still on you and in decent condition
you still have 100% of your gold
there is absolutely NO lasting reprocutions

WoW's PvP can be described as "total shit".

    That is all.

Well, I never got into hardcore PvP'ng.  My 13 and 15 yr old boys love it.  I swear, they sit in front of Iron Forge and PvP one on one for hours.

Personally, I dont see what they see, but I guess its the "I am better than you" accomplishment.

They have all their epics and its fun watching their tactics.

Yeah, mini game sums it up nicely, you have no impact on anything so sure, its just a sub-game.

I view it as an easier/simpler version of any shooters "capture the flag" map. To add insult to injury, there is no variety whatso ever. At least if they are going to make a shooter map based system put in a few different ones to choose from with some interesting features in each, but then, you gotta stand in queues as it is.... more maps to choose from would just mean more waiting.

It all feels very last minute.

I am looking forward to WoW's pvp with the arenas. It may not be 'real' pvp, but it should be fun and teamwork rewarding with the rank thing.

    No you don't

    Also here in Holland gas costs €1.40 per liter, so that's 1.40 x 1.3 (euro<>$) x 3.78 (liter<>gallon) = $6.87 hehe.... not that I'm proud of that ofcourse :(

I live in Germany (although I buy my gas from the U.S. facilities here) I see the Local prices. Its something like 1.43 euro a liter. We Americans are very spoiled when it comes to gas prices. You can see it in all the huge cars we drive.

I can always pick out the Americans in traffic. They all have the huge SUV's.

Well "real PvP" is whatever you think it is bro.

Some people like FFA some like the shooter style. There is nothing really all that wrong with the style WoW is going for its just to damn basic, easy and repetitious.

What would be nice in WoW if they are going to make it a focus of the easily reached endgame is a bit more variety and challenge.

I would say "totaly shit" is the understatement of the year year if i had a choice of letting wild dogs rip off my nipples and WOW pvp i would take the wild dogs option.

yeh PvP  raids and battlefields are quite useless... no impact on the world

the old school SWG (pre-Cu) where you had faction bases that give you safe areas, faction outposts/mission outpost basically you get lots of faction benefits, including the planet faction orientation. a raid was simply a gathering of hundreds or rebels/imperials to take down player imperial/rebel owned bases and put your own base in its strategically (4-5 hours on deciding the right location to get hill advantage or bottleneck effect or easy access ect...) placed position. when your imperial spy allerted the imperials that rebels were organizing a raid against your base, you call your guild leader, guild leader calls all faction allied guild leaders all guild leaders contact their members and you have a REAL VIRTUAL WAR (200-300 people at once) yeh sometimes a lagg fest but devs catched on and gave us more power during raids :P

SWG pre-Cu ahh those where the good old days where MMORPG was quality games

Well they did fit the WoW target group of 14-20, So doesn't surprise me at all. WoWs PVP matches the current style of PVP that that age group tends to like, The ability to have better equipment, its fast, and the goals in it just make sure that people are in the same area to PvP. Notice any similarities to BF2? Blizzard is really good at taking what people enjoy and putting into thier games to make the largest profit. I guarentee if Auto Assualt would have taken off they would have had the ability to use Steam Tanks in a battleground with in a month or 2.

The fact Battleground is NOT even a part of the world, that said all. Things never change in battleground, things you do in battleground will never change anything. No relationship/impact what so ever to the World outside the battleground. Not even change anything inside battleground...

Not to mention, you fight the enemies you don't even know why you are fighting. And you fight side by side with the people mostly you don't even know.

It's nothing more than a seperated small fighting server with mindlessly keep fighting for no goal, no point, no end, until you leave.

There is no point to it. They could just make smaller servers of 200 people for fighting only instead since all this fighting won't effect the world at all... But what is the point?
