12 days to beta test and verry little info from the devs such as skills for classes and items and so on but i think they should try to relese befor beta if they have any time
The main site for LOTR online gives a basic description of how the classes are situated as well as the traits system (similar to WoW talents and racial traits sort of) as well as some bestiary and geography. But yeah you're right, items and armor are not known a lot about at the moment.

It's not 12 days to beta, it's 12 days to the giveaway of the beta keys. There is no information when the beta will start, there is some rumors that the Alpha phase 3 has started today. we'll just have to wait and se
They're only just about to start Alpha 2! First they have to get through that, Alpha 3, and THEN to the earlier stages of Beta. That you cannot expect untill the end of September at the soonest.
nope, the public beta part started with alpha 2 which began on 3rd of August, from whats being said, alpha 3 either starting today or soon after, and beta is thoguht to follow.
No matter where they are in their alpha/beta sequence I would wager that when you get your betat key, if you do, will have no correlation with when you can actually enter beta.
As far as the official forum goes - they are in ALPHA 2. It looks like some people go their keys for ALPHA 3 last week and its to be expected that it starts today -the 21st. ALPHA 1 was not announced on the forums they did it quitely.
You know what you should think regarding the lack of information about classes at this point? GOOD! That means they haven't rushed into things and they are still leaving the door open for changes and revisions to the classes. It is SO imoprtant to give plenty of time to play classes as designed before locking into them. Once they have a chance to make sure all of the classes work... and work out the quirks and cludges to their satisfaction... then we will get to see a public announcement of details. Look at SW:G - we knew for a long time what classes were going to be available and what many of them would do... but look at the game now, and you'll see a TOTALLY different collection of classes masquerading under some of the same names. I'd rather Trubine get it right... and release a solid game instead of a Pay-for-Beta like SOE did.

I agree, completely. I hope they are really working with their Alpha testers to continue to shape the classes and such and really don't want to see anything set in stone yet. That would have me worried.
I saw some discussion with someone from Turbine about LotRO, and they talked about how they reduced damage of one of the combat classes by 25% because it was so overpowered. Whats good is that they havent released much info on the classes, and therefore they can make changes like this now, long before anyone feels like their class of choice is being 'nerfed'.
I am interested to hear about how much content there is. That will give us a good idea of how far along the game is, because Turbine got burnt pretty bad with DDO and not having enough content. I cant imagine they would risk repeating that mistake.

What kind of content interests you most for this particular game?
I like what Turbine is doing by holding the class specifics for the game. As for content, the whole of Middle Earth will not be included but only the area or Eriador, this includes Angmar(in title), Shire, Rivindell, Bree, Iron Hills. Even though its only one section of Middle Earth its still a massive piece of land. If you were looking to attack the Black Gates or Isengard wait for the expansions .
Does anyone know if staying logged in and navigating through the site every day is the same as logging in each day for the beta key giveaway through mmorpg.com in 2 days? If I am always logged in I am not sure what the point would be to log out then log back in. Anyone know?
My hubby DL'd DDO the other day and is having a blast playing it. I looked at the game and watched and I didn't see what the heck people are talking about when they say it is a bomb.
As for LOTRO, I don't see how anyone could judge it yet. Nobody has even seen it. I'd rather be hopeful and wait to see than prejudge it without any details or information.
Seriously, what i've heard so far sounds fantastically fun. I don't know of any other game where you get to play the bad guys by actually stepping into their role. That is innovative and sounds very exciting to me.
Will everybody have chance to play beta for free (its probably gonna cost money) or ONLY the 200 chosen ones? Id rlyrlyrly would want to check this game out and proly start playing it. God, I cant wait
Originally posted by parrotpholk Sadly I had high high hopes for this game even after the thing known as DDO failed. However the more details that flow the more constricted the game sounds. Especially in the way of land mass to explore. Granted it is a bit bigger than DDOs lol but still. The lack of choice as to either good or evil and the lack of spots such as Mordor makes me less excited. Will wait and see what comes of beta before final judgement just to be fair. If this is as big a flop as DDO was I do believe Turbine will be a four letter word.
You will have to WAIT until more content is released, for my part I prefer having a great game that only covers Angmar and Eriador at the beginning and then enlarge slowly, there is no point hoping to have great graphics + great gamelplay + great lore + huge maps at the game's launching. If we want to have a living world, something more interesting than empty regions with only monsters to slay and caves to empty, well we have to wait...
LOTR is going to be a nice game. From what I read on the game it sounds like it won't be a grinding game and they will reward players that reach the end game. The variety of adventures they claim will be in the game is something I'm looking forward to experiencing.

That beta starts next week is purly hypothetical.
