Federal Appeals Court: Driving With Money is a Crime

This is complete B.S.

This is where this "war on drugs" has led us to.  Now you can't carry cash on suspicion of drug trafficking.

Why shouldn't anyone be able to carry as much money on them as they want to without having to go through something like this?

Would you like, "freedom fries" with that BS?

Frankly I don't think this has to do with the, "war on drugs", rather just another step in the direction of a full fascist state.

ok. I'll give it 10 years before we're all marked with RFID chips and become fleshy robots of the state.

Damn, and I thought it was just the UK authorities that had it in for drivers. (OK you can forgive the police, after all the sniffer dog detected something [then again with that much cash some of it has to have passed through dealers/junkies]).

But for the judges to dismiss this guys reasons for having the money without anything to back up their allegations.......thats when you start to question the reasoning of that judge.

Yup thats how they all go...  first you cant drive around with ridiculously large sums of money that you shouldn't be driving around with anyway (just for your own safety, really...  why would you ever need that much in cash? You wouldn't get paid in cash for that much money unless it was under the table/not exactly legal payment), next it's the chips in the brain.  The vicious downward spiral has already been set in motion.

Honestly, the war on drugs is a load of crap.  Think about it, where does all the drugs the government confiscates go?  Into a "storage building"?  No, and as for the US taxes, why do you think we have some of the lowest taxes in the world (yea, compare us to canada or sweeden where the government takes alot more, or switzerland where everything is socialized and they take 80% of your earnings, YES, 80%)?  we take the drugs, and sell them back to the god forsaken country they came from.  and another reason why they don't want people to carry cash: they want everything on credit/debit cards.  because they can track those.  that is the government's way of getting past this whole "phone tapping is now unconstitutional" thing, and wont have to track phonecalls.  since almost anyone can get a credit card, they just run the locations of credit card users for suspected criminals, compare them, pay some geeky no-life power tripping analyst who thinks he knows everything to come up with some crap story about how these 19 guys all shopped at walmart, one bought soap, the other bought electrical wire, and someone bought a box of matches, so they all must be terrorists pretending to be arabic macgyvers.  no, there is no war on drugs, becase if it was really a "war" it'd be over already because wars happen between countries.  we'd start a war with columbia, and venezuela and all those other south american countries, and get rid of these several square mile pot fields, and we'd have cops stopping everyone in the country searching cars, there'd be mandatory curfews, nobody could own guns, etc etc etc, its just a cover story to do some extra behind the scenes work and thats all it is

Agreed, that is totally ridiculous. But that is what the appeals system is for. Hopefully it will be rectified by the courts in the future. Absurd rulings are handed down by judges all the time and all we can do is hope the process fixes them. Which is why we need strict Constitutionalists on the Supreme Court, not political partisans out to craft their own vision of what the US should be, usurping legislative power from the legislative branch, ala the Eminent Domain ruling handed down last year.

I think he does have a point though.  I don't think they want us using cash.  It's not trackable (or traceable, whatever).

Why did we ever leave the gold standard?  I've always wondered that.  And even then, they don't want us passing paper currency around or carrying it now.  So, in essence their saying that if we use too much of that we're suspicious.

It just seems really strange and ominous to me.

It's not the Governments place to tell you how much you can, and can't drive around with in cash.

    What happend to personal liberties?

why would you ever need that much in cash?

    Why should it matter?

You wouldn't get paid in cash for that much money unless it was under the table/not exactly legal payment),

    You're making an assumption.

next it's the chips in the brain.

RFID chips are tracking chips, and they don't put them in the brain.

The irony of it all...he was carrying the cash in a cooler to start a refrigerated truck business. Or maybe I'm just bored and drunk, and that's not irony at all.
He's an idiot to be carrying that much dinero anyway.

How much money does it take to be deemed suspicious?

There should be no war on drugs in the first place. Most "harmful" drugs arent any more harmful than ciggarettes or alcohol. It's just  government hype. Who is to tell me what I can and cannot put into my own body if it makes me happy?
