Well, i guess the servers are a write off for today, i go to work at 6 oclock pm, was hoping to get a run in but it's not looking like that's going to happen.
Once again, Goodjob blizzard.

dude.... they extended it for another two hours did you get the memo?
yes?
well then start paying attention to it and i'll get you another copy of it
Have you seen my stapler?
yeah this is a pretty major thing, i am just happy the cross server battlegrounds and the open pvp content is finally here!
Not once in my entire Summer break did I have problems with the WoW servers being unexpectantly down. The only times it was ever down was the weekly Tuesday morning.

your on a better server than crashrdge then. it routinely dumps everyone, and i cant imagine it will be more stable come BC. seriously their servers are horrid, and their customer service worse.
Actually I can't even get on their website much less their servers. However like most people already know the downtimes for major patches usually get extended and the servers will not be stabe for a least a week or two. This is normal for Blizzard, but the sad thing is that Blizzard has done it better than most other MMO companies.

What the hell is wrong?
There is a very clear message about the fact that the servers are down for extended downtime due to the new patch being applied and no doubt tested before coming online.
I sometimes wonder what people expect from companies, but after working in systems support for 10 years i suppose that i shouldn't be so surprised. I still remember the times when after sending everyone e-mails, paper memo's and speaking to everyone in person about how long servers would be down for patches and/or repairs with specific time frames (all signed off by managers and directors), you would still get the classic "when are the servers going to be back up, i have work to do" comments.
Blizzard are adding yet another content patch, which is costing us a couple of extra hours of downtime for them to apply and test and i for one have no issues with that at all.
It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays.
22/08/2006 - Weekly maintenance
Please note that all realms will be brought offline Wednesday morning between 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. CEST (Paris Time) for our weekly maintenance. This maintenance is extended due to 1.12 and the cross realm battlegrounds.
All realms should be available again shortly afterwards.
We apologise for the inconvenience.
Having played the game since a few days after release, I can say that most of the servers are up most of the time.
They have been upgrading some of the older hardware on the American realms, hopefully that will fix some of the lag/crash problems. Are some of the older European realms having problems with lag?
learn to read the Realm Status Thread or just look at the Login screen...you know the big box?

Unfortunately, the downtime has been increased. I checked on at 3:15pm (UK time), which is 4:15pm Paris time. Apparently the servers have been called down for longer maintanence and will be so until further notice...
Oh well... Blizz has still done better than some companies.
