Shadowbane

I saw a thread somewhere here, recently, about Shadowbane being free - and fun. So I got a copy, loaded it up, patched it and registered and sure enough it is free and I got all the expansions for free too.

So I just thought I'd tell you guys I just spent most of my Sunday playing a character and, yes, there are some slight problems with walls and stuff - but I have had a great time!

There are a lot of people in game, so those that say its dead haven't been on recently. And if you don't mind the more basic graphics, which I don't, then go ahead and try it out - after all, it won't cost you anything.

Reminds me of pre-planes of power Everquest graphics.

Honestly, its good fun, it really is.

Well, that's my penniesworth - don't know why there's been such negative stuff said about it. I guess if you are used to EQ2 and WOW and the new mmorpgs with all their rigid quests and linear gameplay but high graphics then maybe Shadowbane isn't for you. But if you ever played Everquest1 before POP, or any of the earlier mmorpgs and liked the more open style then this is for you.

Oh, and so far as everyone on Shadowbane being idiots - I didn't experience that. Everyone I came across seemed to be enjoying themselves and playing it like it should be played. And there are lots of newbies so you won't be alone.

I think there's just alot of 'snobbery' in the gameworld - don't let it put you off this classic - and I say again - IT IS FREE!!!

    I'm a HUGE fan of EQ1 pre-planes, however, I did try out Shadowbane and didn't like it. The point and click system didn't flirt with me.

    the OP is quite correct, but theres one thing I feel I ought to say about it, you WILL get ganked multiple times by players both greater in level and numbers. I knew of a few characters whose only real income was hunting low level players down. If you cannot handle getting your nose ground in the dirt from time to time, this is not a good idea. Otherwise, its great, has one of the best pvp systems around.

    Shadowbane is free.........however it is niether good nor enjoyable. 

    It's better be hated for who you are, than loved for who you aren't.
