I got banned in Runescape, it was worth it.

Runescape...

Well, i had a Red Party hat, a very rare item that is worth 200 million gold in the game.

I sold the party hat for 190 million gold. I then sold the gold to a gold selling company.

They paid me $704.00 for all my gold.

It was real, I received the check and I took my family out to Genji ($167 bill). Bought a new paintball gun. And the rest is just money I spend.

My account was banned, but it was worth the $704.

True story.

    Nice, but some guy in EVE scammed a whole lot of people by 'cashing in' on his business others had put money in. Total sum some 700 billion isk, which is some $130.000.. IF he could cash in on it.

    the funny thing is, i played runescape for 3 years. started in 7th grade. (im a freshman in college now).

    I bought the red party hat for 110k gold.

    and the game was free. cept the $15 I spent for 3 months of members.

    Excellent reading material, thank you kindly for the link. You know, I always thought isk was worth alot more than that. Every day I'm bombarded with eve-mails from isk sellers....it must be rather difficult to make a decent profit off this currency though. On the other hand, I'm assuming that alot of players are buying. 700 billion is alot of money, a hundred bucks for that amount is a joke, really. Its very interesting, because ingame currency tends to cost alot more in other mmos I've played.

    That's because it's illegal to sell isk/item for RL cash AND there's a legit way to 'buy' Isk in the game, so most people will just use that option. Also because everything gets blown up at some point AND the market being totally playerdriven inflation is very much under control.

    700bil ISK is worth $91,000 in which you could EASILY EASLYE EASILY sell that for 10 grand.

    If you sell it for any less... be it legal or not you're a complete moron and should be shot.

    I'd do just about anything for 10grand plus whoever sold that 700bil ISK could just sell his char with it and bump it up to 15grand easy peasy

    I have no idea actually. I guess they were just watching me do the trades with the company character. They said they had evidence, i looked and all they showed me was the report from a GM, saying i was "complete control of the situation" ect. ect.

    I tried to appeal the ban with an apology, they denied it.

    I just got this quote from the EvE forum, which seems to confirm the value of the accquired funds:


    while cally in his video called this a scam. His claims that only he was in on it. Plus stating in the video that he only decided to take the isk and run 2 months ago. That all the other workers, tellers, and directors of EIB/EIBI were not in on it.

    By Callys own words it is in fact really a case of embezzlement, especially if Kal continues to make good on his word, and pay out to depositors,investors, and staff.


    of course, the next week will tell. Plus it will be intresting to see how CCP reacts to someones claims of having stolen ingame assest that have a RL value of US$100,000, if converted to GTC and then ebayed.

    That's quite a significant piece of the ingame economy he holds in his hands. Wow, what do you do with something like that? I mean, even if we exclude the idea of selling that money directly, and instead using it ingame to effect the economy....that's alot of influence directly at one person's fingertips. He must feel powerful.

    700 bil doesn't even remotely show up on the radar. There's enough people having 10+ bil, and they sit on it so it doesn't go back into the economy.

    Yah, I saw it was much closer to 800 bill. I mean, I understand that there's alot of money floating around, or being "held down" by people, but what I'm saying is that's a huge sum to rest in the hands of one person. I'd assume that the potential for reinvestment is staggering....considering the fact that he has absolutely no one to answer to, and no one to filter down his potential profits to. 800 bill isn't a sizeable portion of the economy until you consider it a stepping stone for an even greater accumilation, and therefore concentration, of wealth.
