damn thing took ages today to load up... what was supposed to be a simple patch now taking over a day...what happened? anybody know?

From what I understand, they've been having issues with server stability ever since the Red Moon Rising expansion. Then again, its patch day. From my experience, all games get fuggled on patch day. Speaking of which, I need to go check if they applied 1.12 to WoW today.

They recently updated the game with something big enough that Win98/ME is no longer able to run the game. Apparently the update also buggered their servers, heh.
Supposedly they think they know what the problem is, but whether things are still going nuts or not I don't know.
