i played eve online for a few months and was really enjoying the game but after a while i discovered the reason which forced me to quit playing the game....
the sheer arrogance of most of the players i met forced me to quit. dont get me wrong, there are plenty of decent players as well.
whatever you do, if you are playing eve, do not mention you have a console. you will get slagged off at every opportunity by pc owners who seem to think that console owners are all retards or just kids who dont have the iq to play eve...what rubbish. its people like this who ruin the game for others. i got called all kinds of things by pc owners who obviously have a superiority complex or fealt threatened by console owners. if all pc online gamers are like this then i really am not going to bother as i have better things to do.....like playing on my ps2.

Why are you talking about consoles when playing a PC game anyway? Unless you said "omigod console is so more fun than thiss!!!!11", the flak you received was unjust and surely does not correspond with the general PC-gamer oppinions about console-gamers.

true enough, but where do people get the right to flame you to death just because you mention what game you are playing on the ps2 at the moment. it started with one then snowballed and i just got pi***d off with being called retard just because i dare to own a ps2 as well as a pc.
i think half these people have some kind of problem down below and have to make up for it with all the 'my computers bigger and better than yours' or 'my battleship is more powerful than yours'.
who cares, but when you continually get tagged a retard it makes me wonder why i bother.

I don't build PC's anymore. I just buy them from a good vendor, usually Dell. I am way too busy in my life to bother tracking down parts, keeping track of vendor warrantees and worrying about having to force them to pony up when/if something breaks. Even using newegg or other vendors I can BARELY come in with an equivalent system that Dell makes. Their parts may not be QUITE as reliable or QUITE as top notch but when all is said and done I'm not going to quibble about a couple decimal places on a performance chart measured by the thousands. I have peace of mind knowing that if something breaks I can just call Dell and get it replaced.
I used to build every PC I owned from scratch just like yours above. Not anymore... Last thing I want to do after coming home and troubleshooting a ginormous network all day is to work on fixing or building a PC. I still love tinkering around but I could care less about what's under the hood anymore as long as I get decent performance out of it.

Let me ask you something, how much stock do you put in to other people's opinions? I certainly hope the answer is "none." Why then (assuming the answer is none) would you let somebody hiding behind the anonimity of the internet decide what allows you to have fun? They don't like consoles. I don't like consoles. That doesn't stop me from playing the hell out of Tekken.

I hate consoles, i tell people that play on consoles that i hate consoles... i even call console players noobs because they play console. But never for 1 second do i ever expect any of them to take it personally, i mean, what kind of insult is it? "Haha you play on consoles, you noob!! Mouse > Joypad!!". This seriously made you quit a game?

Guys, any insult is unjust, regardless of it's focus. Hammer is not in the wrong for being offended, and if that offense led him to leave EVE, well, that's unfortunate, but it's his call.
And sheesh, insults over a console?! Games are games my friends, on what they are played is largely irrelevant.

Sounds like you ran into some idiots is all , there are 23,000 + on Eve at any one time.There were bound to be a few bad eggs.
Still if you dont like it that much , dont play......It could have been worse ,you could have tried to have an intelligent convo on WoW - Now that's a challenge!
I still play console today on my PS2, my favorite games on it are DDR and Guitar Hero.
I could care less if those people flamed me for having a PS2 or Xbox, because most likely they have a Microsoft or Sony product on their PC as well, and isn't that nearly the same thing?
