But, wouldn't it be nice to have an actual Dungeons and Dragons mmorpg? With the actual D&D system built in? Right now, Im playing NeverwinterNights: Hordes of the Underdark and it kinda sparked my interests in that area.
I know there are tons and tons and tons of fantasy mmorpgs, however, it would just be nice to play an actual licensed D&D rule-based mmorpg. Like in Ravenloft

I believe the only ones entitled to the D&D engine are Black Isle and Bioware. They aren't MMORPG kind of people [imho, they are better off with single player RPGs] so the chances of either developer company making a MMORPG are slim.
For now, that is.

Actually a D&D MMORPG is in fact being developed at this time and Turbine is the one behind it (They are also doing Middle Earth Online and have recently obtained total control back of the Asheron's Call franchise)

lol, no.
I have been a Dungeons&Dragons fan since high school. I know this really show my age, but I was in 11th grade when RavenLoft first came out and when the Psionics Class came out.

I'll probably get flamed for saying this but I don't think Atari will be any worse at making MMORPG's then Turbine. AC2 was an utter disaster and still is. They just got lucky with AC IMO, the only proof to my theory is how crappy AC2 is
I will officially go on record saying that in my opinion "D&D online will suck", mainly because of Turbine's involvement.
To En1Gma: I never said it was a good example (trust me I beta'd that one, I know how bad it is lol) but unfortunately it's the ONLY example heh.
To Sunday: Actually Microsoft had more to do with the abysmal failure of AC2 than Turbine did. Now that Turbine is free from the leash that MS had them on, they are doing all they can to turn the game around. Unfortunately it may already be to late to save it though.
I'd be more afraid of D&D Online failing because of Atari's involvement in it than the fact that Turbine is the one doing it, look at how bad of a state Horizons was released in. Maybe the fault in Turbine isn't poor development but poor choices in publishers lol.
