lol@ the southerner!! I graduated from Palo alto SR high many years ago. You will find out what is hip in S.Cal is considered arse backwards in the BAY AREA! Its not that they are losers, its the fact you have two completely types of scenes. Been to Santa Cruz yet? Half-Moon bay? Bay area peeps tend to be more mellow/hippieish compared to the drudge of S.Cal. Give it time bro. it will get better! Dont forget, you are right next to the creme of de crop"Los Altos Hills" youll meet alot of stuck on themselves rich daddy types at Palo alto.
Ohh and stay away from EPA, its sucks even the police avoid EPA! Have a TOGOs sandwich from the nice indian guy that owns it in palo alto and be happy!
So hang in there, it will be ok.. just takes some adjustment!
Well, it IS in the wrong place, but it seems like an honest call for help, to me. Soooo!
I moved around a lot as a kid - it can be really tough. You're leaving behind what you know and moving to something new and often very different. People can be *really* different from what you're used to in a new area! Attitudes, hobbies, way of talking, and more can all change.
I'm going to hop on board here and agree with other posters that probably not 'everyone' in your new school is a 'loser', though. It might take some real effort, might take a bit of reaching and searching, but you should be able to find some folks to get along with most anywhere if you take the time. Have some courage, and a little faith in yourself, and make that effort; it's usually worth it.
You've got an edge by playing online games, too - you bring a community of people with you when you travel. No matter where you go, if you have net access you've still got access to that community. Draw strength from that, and use that strength to go out and look for real-world friends too.

Saw this and had to reply. SnaKey, I have known a lot of people in 34 years... And have REALLY never seen any correlation between social class and 'losers'. One's mommy and daddy having more money never made anyone a better person. Just a nicer dressed one.

Do you know where Palo Alto is? It's Silicon Valley. It has the highest number of Billionairs per square foot than any other place on earth. In case you haven't taken biology, genetics play a big roll in if someone is a loser or not. Taken by the fact that their parents worked their way up to be some of the richest people on earth, the chances of anyone there being a loser is slim to nil. We aren't talking no "My Daddy makes $200k a year and we live in a 4 story house" like where I grew up... we're talking "My Daddy invented the iPod" (which was invented by a Palo Alto resident).

what the hell do I do?
I MISS MY SCENEY FRIENDS
EDIT** I put this in the wrong place, but oh well.
ok, you're hanging out in a video game forum, and they're the losers. I think you've got it backwards...
Rich people are usually the worst people to hang out with because they are way to stuck up and snobish, they would sell their friends if it meant money. And, the words popular and loser are two made up words, sure the popular people are the ones with more friends right. Wrong the popular people are the guys who dress up like wannabe gansters and the girls put on to much lipstick and masquera and they usually smoke pot or do drugs or something, to be known as a loser, you have to be a smart person who doesnt do drugs and dresses normally. But Im sure you can find friends, just try to find friends that arent stuck up and are normal income people. And remember that loser usually means the people that are smarter than the popular people. I am in between myself, I have plenty of people who like me because I act myself, thats all you have to do to make friends be yourself.
98% of the teenage population does or has tried smoking pot. If you're one of the 2% who hasn't, copy & paste this in your signature.
lol, I grew up in the early eighties. I surfed from northern cali to southern cali.. Was a punk, partied with darby, Partied with Jerry Garcia(lives less than 2 miles from my house) Had the most famous parties up at Merv Griffins pad in monterey(He was never home, Gorgeous daughter and grand daughter). Had a 1966 Kharmaghea(flourescent YELLOW)with push button starter(no keys) surf racks for 3 boards and hung out at Bonney Dunes too much!! Saw so many "Core" groups i forget the names except the big ones..Motorhead,Agent Orange,BONEZ, CRASS... My favorite hang out spot was up in the mountains near Santas Village with a old hippy dude we called Indy(Indica) JIM..
Partying and the scene was fun for me. Had a blast during my teenage years.. And im from Palo Alto!! Its just a matter of who you know!
Didn't silicon Valley get big in the 90s because of the tech stuff ? Hence it might have BEEN kewl but no more it seems lol.
Oh and don't expect kids on here to know who the hell Jerry Garcia is, or what punk means. they think Green Day is punk and jerry garcia is an ice cream flavor only.
It's better be hated for who you are, than loved for who you aren't.

But that was the 80s. Things were much different back then. Like the whole thing of there being more people who did Cocaine then, then there are people who smoke pot today. That's just one example.
