Wouldn't it be nice if you could at least walk around your own ship? Or perhaps a group of you being able to walk around a command ship. Maybe player bases? Just a thought.
If you don't have anything positive to add to my post don't add anything.

It would be nice of course, but making full detailed characters (taking into account how extremely detailed current avatar creation is) would take a LOT of development resources. Its just not tangible enough to implement since walking in a station or a ship is basically eye candy, doesnt have any function.
An example would be developing a 5 billion dollar laser that shoots birds that poop on a monument. Its a big overkill. Still, if CCP's resources would of been unlimited, I bet they would of done that and a lot more. Would be nice definitely.
I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

There are two types of people in this world - people that suck... and me.
Stationwise is another story though and it would be cool to be able to dock and walk out of your ships hangar to a general area. It would be cool to see just how absolutely huge all of the ships are when you're looking at them from the scale of a human being. I also think it would be cool if you could see guns and stuff being fitted to the ship by drones in the fitting screen.
As has been said though, they do want to do this eventually, but they also want to do about a million other things that are far more important than the fluff of walking around a station.
I see no reason to how "walking around in your ship" would enhance game play. Sure it would be "cool" but that's it. It would also be "cool" to have a strip joint in space stations where you could "enhance" the strippers albeit I don't see that happening any time soon.
If you were able to change the setting or environment while docked through clicking or accessing other features such as market, corp, missions, etc I could see how this would be emersive.
I would like to see personalized hangars that reflected your items in a docking hangar as they appearing in the stations inventory.
We all know that if you could go to a "bar" in stations while docked when messing with what ever feature your attention demanded that we all would likely do so.
I say "NO" to walking around and having "guests" on ships. Hmm...does this mean if I pop'd a ship that ALL the "visitors" aboard could be podded too? It would not enhance game play.
read a bit the lore of the game
"I have examined him, I'm afraid the symptoms all point towards it." Anu was saying.
"This mind-lock as you call it, is it permanent?" captain Ouriye asked.
"I'm afraid so. We have studied it thoroughly and found no cure. It's a shame, if I may say so."
"But how do you prevent it in the first place? I mean, was this bound to happen?" the captain enquired.
"Under the circumstances, yes. The only way to prevent this is with
intense training for many years. That timeframe was unacceptable to
your superiors. Besides, you knew what was going to happen all along.
You have no grounds for complaints now."
"I know, I know," Ouriye sighed. "I had my reservations, but what could I do? I was under strict orders."
"I understand," Anu replied. "The lieutenant performed admirably. You can be proud of him."
"I am," Ouriye answered.
Silence. 'What is going on?' Pirkotan thought. 'They must be
talking about me. What mind-lock?' Then the captain and two of the
Jovians appeared before him. They looked at his face, into his open
eyes. 'Hey!' Pirkotan screamed in his mind. 'Help me!'
"He looks so peaceful, lying there. Is he conscious?' asked the captain.
"Who knows? Maybe, maybe not," came Anu's reply.
"It's sad to loose him, he was an efficient officer. And a valued
friend," Ouriye said. "He will receive the Medal of Valor for this, it
will be sent to his parents. His father will be so proud."
"And rightly so," Anu said. "Anyway, we have certain... treatments that can be beneficial to him, if you're interested...?"
"I thank you for your offer, but it is unnecessary," Ouriye
replied. "We have very good institutions that can take care of him. He
will be well provided for."
Pirkotan screamed a silent curse. His fate was sealed. He had been
sacrificed for the greater good of the Caldari State, like a clog in a
great big machine. Just before he passed into a murky slumber, Pirkotan
read the motto of the Caldari Navy embedded on the captain's sleeve:
'All For the Good of Many.' Much good it would do him, stuck in his own
mind for the rest of his life.

well, EVE is a space-ships MMORPG. i dont see EQ players asking for space-ships or demanding being able to fly a plane and have flight-fights.
there are far too many walking MMORPGs with persons, avatars and stuff. EVE is unique. no avatars, other than the tiny picture on your character sheet. please, dont try to make it like any other MMORPG out there
remember eve is get dev that listen ppl
player asked for planetary combat and atm CCP get a demo
if will ask for body avatar what get out of pod and live on stations CCP will make that i am sure just have patience alot of patience

Leaving your ship with your avatar, landing on planets, colonizing planets, are things that the Devs have in mind for EVE in the future, yet don't expect those to come anytime soon if at all.
