whats 1337 mean in terms of 1337 kiddie

Firstly sorry to make a whole thread about this but what the heck is a 1337 ? whats it mean? and toon (im asuming its refering to char) but im not sure

thanks for taking time to answer these 2 questions

    1337 = Leet which is a form of "language" some gamers use that substitues letters for numbers.  By most, these people are laughed at and considered young, immature and illiterate.  When you call someone a "1337 Kiddie" that's basically what you're calling them.

    Imagine the saddest attention seeking misfit you ever went to school with.

    When that type play online games they use numbers to spell words in order to identify themselves to the rest of the community.
    It's quite useful actually. When you see something in the chat window like -

    "Dr00d neeDed for l33t Group!!!!!! NO NUB$!!11!!!111"

    then you know what to expect if you join them

    EDIT = Toon ( is short for cartoon ? ) simply means your avatar on screen yes.

    Wrong. 1337 is simply Leet in numerical form. Leet is the pronounciation of the "lite" part of the word "Elite". 1337 simply means elite.

    World of Borecraft is filled with "1337 kiddies".  I actually throw that term around a lot.  And it's pretty sad how common it is... seeing 1337 kiddies and all.

    1337 speak was started by hackers back in around 1980-ish. Gamers then started to use it and yes it's mostly used by kids now. 1337 = leet = elite. People usually say man you're 1337! Meaning they have good skills in a game.

    lol, shouldnt let out the secret like that!! I agree, kiddies just copying something thats already been done. Now its a fad!! For me its kinda sad. Back in the day when we communicated thru ASCII we did so for a reason. The numericals were added mid 90ies with progz for the most suck ass service ever made! AOL!! Many of us thought the net should be free. AOL thought differently. So many of us did things we shouldnt do to bring AOL down! It worked!

    For the kiddies who think numerics are cool the real stuff to learn is still ASCII!

    ASCII examples!  £æÉôöòûùÿÖ¥¢???op{~?Çüé due to this interface some ASCII symbols may appear as question marks. ö?ûùÿÖÜ¢£?ƒ!!
