How the hell did Ryzom get to number 3?

Last time I played, it was a player barren monotomous solo grind.

enough people voted for, not enough people voted against, that simple. MMORPG.com does not exactly have an even distribution of player opinions, niether does anyone else really, but still.

No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

If we had one person vote a game "10" that game would be number one, even though one person played it. The game with the least ammount of reviewers gets to the top it seems on this website.

Ryzom is quite a good title. It's certainly a niche game, however a lot of people like it. Also, a hella lotta people on the MMORPG.com ratings just play on the game for an hour go "GREAT"and then rate everything 10/10. So don't loose sleep over the issue. Just let it be and get back to playing whatever...

I agree with that. Also bear in mind Ryzom is one of only two sandbox style games. It means those of us that like that style of game over the adventure style games are going to be very positive about it

They have a very robust community of passionate partisans. I respect their drive, though I don't care much for the game.

From what people have been telling me, Ryzom hit that magic sweet spot.... there's nothing to actually do in the game but for whatever reason people stuck around and started making their own fun.

I dunno about others but after walking away from playing that game I respected those who play it and what makes them choose to play it. The strengths of the game are strong and the weaknesses are from focusing on the strengths. It is well made for what it was invisioned to be.

See, mmorpg has this rating system where people rate the games.   They take all these ratings and tally them up.   After they tally the ratings up then they rank them based on the ratings given by the members of this site.

That is how Ryzom got to be number 3.

I know its hard to believe that a game YOU didn't enjoy is popular with other people.

Maybe I'd rate it for what it is, but this website doesn't like me to be able to vote. I'd wager a lot more people who would swing by and vote aren't allowed to either.

EH, its not free. The trail has unlimited time on it. You want to pass over the the other area you need to pay.

Because it's a great, open-ended sandbox game with good RP, great customer service, engaging graphics, a mature community, interesting lore and it isn't the same old pseudo-tolkien BS.

    I'd imagine that's why.

You have to obtain a minimum level to vote.   By the looks of your signature you have already.  Go rate it.

Its absurd to think that any restrictions on this site which apply to EVERYONE would somehow only apply to those interested in giving Saga of Ryzom a bad ranking, and thus elevating its status.

Do you think there is some little cookie in the site that detects people who do not like ryzom and prevents them from voting on it?

Not for those who prefer EVE. For those who prefer Ryzom, yes, it is.

In other words: moot question. Now go home and rethink your life. ::::02::

Why is it that anytime someoen doesn't like a rating on the game list the ratings MUST be bolluxed or it's somehow the fault of the players rather than the simple fact that it's just a good game?

When WoW was on top WoW players defended the ratings list like rabid dogs.  As soon as it dropped down some they started saying how it was rigged and there was no way EVE was a better game.  Then Guild Wars got on it and people moaned and groaned about it too.

Now Ryzom is climbing because, while I don't find it all that fun, it IS a very good game.

Give it a rest people.  There are thousands of people who visit this site.  I don't know how many of them actually VOTE but you can't say this site doesn't get a broad spectrum of MMORPG players.

    Yes, I think it is.
Given the RIDICULOUS score the re-review gave Eve I think they were a bit tight on the new scores for Ryzom.  Maybe they'll review it again after R2.

Ridiculous because you don't agree with it.   Strange because not only does the Re-Review come very close to the original ranking but it also is in line with what members of this site have rated it.   So the only odd person out in this eqUation is YOU.

I'm so tired of you FUCKING RETARDS bitching when something is not in line with your own personal idea of what a ranking should be.

If you think the rating is too high..go give it a shit rating yourself and SHUT THE FUCK UP.

    I'll clarify.
I've seen Eve, wasn't for me, good enough game, just too many long dull periods and PvP gives me hives.

    It deserves a high score.

Does it deserve to be re-marked that far ahead of everything else on a re-review? Hell no.

When you look at how it was re-marked and then look at how Ryzom has been re-marked, it looks bloody stingy.

It's the degree and the disparity.

the fact the EVE re-reviewer gave customer support a 9 clearly point out the review should not be taken too serious.there is a daily maintance of an hour for crying out loud. not to mention tickets take days (my ticket took 3 days) before CCP can be bothered to answer them.

    You have "seen" EvE ?

I've got two 38 month old characters.   YOU?

Cause I have seen Ryzom.   I played probably 45 minutes total.   Just didnt' grab me.  I'm the first to acknowledge that I didn't give it enough time.   But I'm happy for it and its 8.3 ranking.   I'm not going to call its 8.3 rating Ridiculous and in fact I'm on this thread defending its 3rd place standing.    Hell... I hope it reaches the top.   The players of this game sing its praises well and speak highly of the developers (very much like the EvE community).    That and the 8.3 ranking it is enjoying on this site compels me to give it a more in depth try someday.

You just get done saying that PVP gives you hives then you get bent and are quoted as saying "Does EvE deserve to get re-marked that far ahead of everything else- HELL NO".

You can't dismiss something because it gives you hives and other people thoroughly enjoy it.

I just hope you aren't allergic to chocolate.

EvE customer support deserved a 10... the fact that gameloading thinks otherwise tells me that you can take whatever he has to say about EvE with a grain of salt.

Only gameloading would complain about 1 hour maintenence per day for a server cluster that has held as many as 26,000 players at once (which is often less than one hour and for me falls between 2 am and 3 am alaska time).

3+ years and I have had nothing but pleasant experiences with every facet of CCP's customer support.

So you can take the veterans word for it... then you can read the review and take the reviewers word for it... or you can take gameloadings anti-pvp crusade and run with him.

Or you can play it and decide for yourself  and if it suits you go give customer service a big fat 1 in your own ranking.

Ah, the ripe stench of hypocrisy.
I'm not allowed to judge Eve on the basis of my experience - time allotment not disclosed - but you're able to give your opinion based on a mere 45 minutes?

As I said, and will repeat.  Eve is a good enough game, just not for me, I then gave my reasons.

My objection is to the comparitive stinginess of Ryzom's re-review compared to that of Eve.  Eve got the gushing fanboy treatment and, IMO, got overmarked by the OFFICIAL review.  There seems to be a disparity in approach there and when it's a professional review you expect a touch more professionalism and consistency,
